My friend lost a lot of blood after her son's birth and declined transfusion due to a bad reaction to earlier transfusions. Her son had some palate issues and had a poor latch. She was unable to establish a milk supply w/an electric pump, and it sounds like her milk never came in, so she stopped pumping after a couple weeks. She also has PCOS, which can be related to supply problems in some women. i have read about a connection between hemoglobin and supply but can't find any info.

She wonders if the lack of supply was stress-related or what. i know some women have little response to a pump, but it seems she would have started to respond after a couple weeks' time. Any ideas, articles, links or tips i can pass on to her so she has more success next time?

Thanks so much!

Here's info on PCOS:

I couldn't find anything about the anemia / hemoglobin thing, but I know anecdotally someone who had iron deficient anemia and had terrible supply problems.
