Has anyone ever taken Zoloft for depression while nursing?

According to Dr. Hale, SSRIs are ok to take while breastfeeding. Check out the PPD forum. The mamas there have lots of experience with depression and the associated drugs.

I was prescribed Paxil when I had PPD. I never took it though. I took St Johns Wort.

Yes. I currently am. I agree with the PP to checkout the PPD forum. Connecting with some other mamas going through the same thing really helps. :hug

Not Zoloft, but Prozac during both pregnancies and while nursing both kids. I have not noticed any side effects on my kids.

Zoloft made me super, super tired. Effexor was much more effective and didn't make me so tired. If one antidepressant isn't working, try another :)

I took Zoloft prior to and through pregnancy, and I am still on it while bf. It has done nothing but good things for me.

Yup, I was on Zoloft during pregnancy and I'm still on it now while nursing. No side effects for baby that I've noticed. :)

Yup, Zoloft from the time my twins were around 4 months till around 16 months. My ob said it didn't have the sedative effect that Paxil can have for some people.

Yep both my kids i had to be on zoloft no problems with it at all. Other than my loss of labido. Zoloft is rated #1 at Kellymom.com for bfing moms. Since it has the least amount that passes thru bm.
Hope it's ok if I jump in here. Mother-risk in Canada have all the info on SSRIs and breastfeeding, I think they have a web site. Computer isn't cooperating so I can't search right now - sorry.
