I have IC which is a bladder condition so this pregnancy will be way different than my last, healthy, normal, and fattening pregnancy.
There are alot of foods i can't eat because it will bother my bladder, i can't take pre-natals because they will really bother my bladder, and i had to stop taking my anti-depressant (for chronic pain) and i can no longer take narcotics for flare ups.
I am worried that the next 8 months or so are gonna be really hard on me. I want to do right by my baby but i can't spend the next 8 months in pain because i'm eating stuff that i know is BAD for my bladder. Also i have my DD to take care of and i can't do right by her if i'm stuck in bed tearing up with pain all the time.
so does anyone else have a prevous medical condition that will make their pregnancy more complicated?

Wow! You are one strong mama! I just weaned off of prozac in April b/c I thought I might get pg again. I went through my last pregnancy on prozac but was nervous the whole time.
Around 14 - 17 wks I have to cath. myself because baby blocks my bladder, I guess? That usually leads to many UTI's and other unpleasantries. But I have nothing like you have to deal with. I did wean off of coffee and stopped eating sugary snacks.

I take an anti-depressent for an anxiety disorder. I switched to Lexapro from Effexor in anticipation of becoming pregnant. Now that I am, I will wean off by 19 weeks in order to prevent pulmonary and withdrawl issues for the baby.
I'm definitely concerned about how it will effect me emotionally and physically. However, I have good doctors and mw that want the best for me, even if that means not weaning totally.
I understand you fears. :hugs mama!

thanks ladies!!
Amy i am soo sorry you have to cath yourself....that hurts like HELL whenever i have to have it done, and for the UTI's i know how u feel....when my IC is at it's worst imagine having the worst UTI on the planet for months on end.....that is what i went through for a good 6 months before someone finally decided i should see a specialist!
stopping the antidepressant wasn't a big deal because it was a very low dose....i luckly havn't had any pain yet (fingers crossed) but once the baby gets bigger it may cause bladder problems

I'm on Armour for Hashimoto thyroiditis, and I am having a hard time getting ANYONE too draw my levels right now! I have been reading some, and they sometimes these symptoms go away, but so far.. My hair is still falling, and I feel poopy, and not PG poopy, thyroid poopy.:(
I'm not sure if this will complicate things, but I know I am dying too know whatmy levels are. I feel like there is some inflammtion in my thyroid right now. I will BEG them too draw labs on the 21st.
I hope that this pregnancy goes smoothly for you, and is not too hard on you.

I was diagnosed with interheptic cholestasis of pregnancy when pg with my 2.5 yr old son.
Supposedly, it returns and worsens with each subsequent pregnancy. We'll see if that is true for me.
If so, I'll be most likely be induced sometime around 36 weeks (as still birth rates skyrocket for ICP babies past 36 weeks). Last time my midwife stripped my membranes daily for three days and labor was induced that way. If I have to be induced, hopefully that is all the push I'll need.

I have what they think is an Incompetent Cervix.
I will have to have way more medical intrusion than I am comfortable with.
We lost our first in march due to either IC or preterm labor. I was 22 wks 5 days.

I have a pre-existing medical condition which increases the risks of miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, neonatal death, and congenital disease. It can lead to heart problems, blindness, and other birth defects. Obviously this pregnancy wasn't planned, and I'm pro-life. It's nervewracking nonetheless, and I feel there's nobody I can really talk with about it.

Not a pre existing medical condition, but my last 2 pregnancies I had gestational diabeties, so I am watching my diet extremely close from the beginning this time, hoping for a smaller baby.

I'm rh sensitized so it could potentially be a problem. It hasn't been for my past 2 pregnancies but I am prepared for it if it does become a problem.

Hi, Wanted to say that my step-mother has IC and I know it can be really intesnse, I hope things go really well for you.
I have a unicornuate uterus and that has caused premature births, one at 26 weeks, the other at 36 weeks. Doc thinks I'll go all the way this time.

Hmmm ... not pre-existing medical condition, but I had to be induced last time (at 37 weeks) after five weeks of bedrest, due to pregnancy-induced high blood pressure. That's a pretty random condition, so I'm hoping it doesn't happen this time. I was hooked up to monitors for me and the baby during my entire labor, which made it very difficult.
Still hoping for all-natural this time out. Sounds like many of you have a lot going on. Good thoughts for healthy pregnancies to all.

wow someone else who knows someone who has IC.....it's such a pain trying to explain it to people they don't understand what a big deal it is and how it has changed my life!!! :(
i met with my OB yesterday and so far everything is looking good....he is gonna do a sono in 3 weeks to see how things are going. He agreed to NOT start me on prenatals because it will flare up my IC but wants to check me frequently for anemia just to make sure the baby is getting enough Iron!
looks like i'll be packing on the red meat for the next 8 months! :duck:
