Ok, it's been a while since your post, but just wanted to say hi! I'm from Argentina, but I've been living in US lately. And I also thought it was strange to see that there's no South American tribe.

Are there any people here from Chile? I'm planning to travel there soon and would like to know about it from a person who lives there. TIA!

me - born in Colombia but raised in the US and Colombia.....Would I go back to live there with my family - in a hearbeat...the problem is convincing DH of it....he would NEVER go for it...trying to find "time" ($) to travel for vacation and for everyone to meet my two newest "additions"

I'm not a parent yet, I just joined these boards because I want to learn as much as I can before having children. I'm from Uruguay. Hey, neighbours! :wave

Hi! My DH is from Uruguay, too!

We are going for a month-long visit to Montevideo, Buenas Aires, and the surrounding area in December (just in time for Christmas on the beach!) I'm working on my Spanish and DD's too. We plan to eventually retire (early, in the next 10 years or so) in Montevideo or nearby.

Allegra, Where are you now? We are in Arizona and Fernando jokes that he's the only Uruguyan in the state! Before moving here, he lived in Los Angeles and knows alot of Uruguayans there.

My dh is from Uruguay also! Azjen43, Where in Uruguay is he from? We spent 6 weeks there last summer, but haven't been back since :(. Retiring there is a wonderful idea that dh and I also have....but we are still way too young for that.

We know of a few other Uruguayans in Hawaii, but we are thinking dh is the only on this island...who knows?

Hi Kristin!

Fernando grew up right in Montevideo, but his father managed a farm near Colonia, so the family spent summers there for most of his childhood.

He spent his senior year of HS in Australia as an exchange student and really wanted to emigrate there, but at the time, (1980's) it was hard to get a visa. So ater finishing college in Uruguay, he went to L.A., (Where his brother had done his exchange program) and ended up staying.

We met six years ago when his job brought him to Phoenix....

Which island are you on? I can only imagine how wonderful it must be to live in Hawaii. My oldest son worked on the big island near Kona for a couple of summers, doing labor on a farm. He said the hard work was totally worth it for the experience of being there...on his days off he just wandered all over the island, went swimming and snorkeling, biking and hiking everywhere. His boss had a boat and he was able to go out on that quite a bit.

Anyway, we're looking forward to our trip to S.A. It's coming quick. I'm a little nervous about traveling that distance with a very spirited 4 year-old, though! :bouncy

We might be traveling down there in about a year (and staying if we like it... my dh has a job offer there!) and I was also saddened to see no South American tribal area... I was hoping to be able to come here and learn more!

Their homeschooling laws rock my world :thumb

I was just looking through the tribe section looking for South America and found nothing and was just about to write a thread about this `faltaŽ !

I am an american (from the USA) living in Brazil on and offer since 1993 my husband is british and has been living on and off/involved/ in Brazil since 1984. So I fit into this equation differently. Brazil is the common denominator in our lives, we met hear had 2 pregnancies and one birth here.
We have three children, 10yo,8yo, 4yo. For our children it is the country they know the best but they are very connected with the bits of them that are from the USA and UK.

Just want to thank you for starting the thread.
ML
