Just curious to see where we all lie on this one. Was this pregnancy planned or was it a surprise?

Planned-- we just started trying and, bang! But we've been wanting and waiting for years and years...!

Hey, I was just getting on here to post a similar poll!!!!! No fair stealing my ideas!!!! :wink

Seriously, I've been TTC for almost a year. This was our 11th cycle of trying. So this baby is very much planned.

This was a big surprise for us. We had planned to start TTC for number 2 next year. We haven't been super strict about contraception though. I was pretty sure we were past my fertile phase but I guess we weren't.

Considering it took 7 months of very well-timed BD, while I was charting etc to conceive DD, I am SHOCKED that this happened so easily and quickly. I know exactly which, um, evening this pregnancy resulted from.

Planned and worked very hard for! 10 cycles of TTC and 2 m/c's and now finally here we are! :bgbounce

I can't really say . . .I had problems TTC my 2nd DD (no issues at all with #1), so I was almost 100% sure I couldn't get pregnant. I thought I'd need progesterone again.

This was only my 3rd cycle PP-- the first I didn't chart, the 2nd I did but didn't temp on "the" most important dates (to count my luteal phase) 'cause I was sure I wasn't ovulating . . .but I knew our timing was all wrong anyway . . .and then this cycle.

So, we didn't think we could conceive but were not TTA.

Far too much info than what you're asking! :lol

I'm with Paisley - vetrans of TTC 6 months +! Although in our case we were no birth control for over a year, charting for only four cycles. I started weaning off psychotropics in Feb or March 05, in anticipation of TTC. So very, very much planned.

Sorta both? With my endo, we knew I had a VERY small window of opportunity to get preggo again, but we weren't going to officially try for another month or so. DH was going on a business trip, I told him I was gonna get some before he left--two weeks later we had a BFP!! LOL

We had sex once this month. We've been not trying for a second pregnancy, but not preventing it either. I just have kept reminding DH that we have to do the deed if we want another one... but apparently, once is all it takes...

A surprise? - A shock more like!!! - but a very nice surprise of course! I have one DD - 16 months, and was planning on waiting until she was 3 or 4 to try for a second. This was some kind of miracle baby since DH and I are pretty consistent about contraception! VERY EXCITED FOR #2 - March 5 2007! I got my BHP YESTERDAY MORNING after figuring out I was 5 days late for AF.

Second month of TTC, last month I charted and worried about getting pregnant. DH got upset with me and said stopping thinking about it. This month I didn't chart and didn't think about it and just had sex whenever and it happened.

We decided this month to not try, but not not try. I got pregnant in the first month. We got pregnant with my daughter the first month trying also. I guess we are both just very fertile people. :) Thank G-D I was on birth control before we were ready to start TTC.

Big, huge, monstrous surprise! There is still the possibility I will wake up tomorrow and find that this entire day has been a dream...so surreal. I'm really worried about how dh will take it.

I'm getting excited though...it's kinda nice to have the decision taken out of my hands... ;)

Planned and conceived during 1st month TTC! Though we haven't tried to prevent pregnancy in years this is the first time we actually said "the time is now" and I guess it was!

I voted planned, because we have been TTC for a few months now. But it's a surprise, too. I really didn't think I would be pg this month, and if you saw my chart you'd know why. All the bd'ing looks like it's at the wrong times. I guess it was right somehow anyway :shrug

Planned, using charting to pinpoint ovulation. Love the charting! :thumb

grr...it won't let me vote for both...lol...we had planned to get pg, two weeks later got a :+ then four weeks later had a m/c, it was a surprise though to get a :+ two months later, we thought it wasn't possible without an af after a m/c, so it was a bit of both for us :D

Planned. :) I went off the pill in late January. Got pregnant right away, then miscarried. Been trying since then. Hoping this one will stick! :fingersx:

Planned, for the most part. However, I didn't expect to get pg the first week I was living with DH!! (We have lived apart for years, we're FINALLY living together. Lots of moving in the next month, but you'll hear all about that later, I guess.) I was impressed when I got pg last January, given that we weren't living in the same state, and I ovulated on a Wednesday!!

Being in academics, it would have been better to get pg in August, with a due date in May, but we'll make this work.

We just started thinking of trying for another baby, and we were going to officially start in July, but we got a little excited in June and decided to "practice."

And that's when I got pg! I'm still in shock, even though we were planning to conceive. Very exciting!

Well, a conscious (sp?) surprise. We weren't TTC by any means, had planned to wait until this winter. But I know exactly when it happened, because I even commented to DH that day, "Well we could have a little sister now." and we laughed about it.

Oh well, here we go...wanted a baby very badly but this is earlier than what we hoped. DD is a handful (more like 3 or 4 handfuls) and she'll be almost 2 and 1/2 when baby comes, hoping that we will have some kind of plan worked out by then to save all of our sanity!
DD is just very extremely spirited and energetic and independent and fearless, I have other people comment all the time on how she keeps me running and it is true! I'm going to have to work my muscles so I can keep running with her and carry the new little one along.

Pinksmommy - My DS is the same age as your DD, and they have all of the same qualities. Julian is spirited and as headstrong as they come. :lol

Like lunadoula, we are two women, so definitely planned for us too!

Though with that said, it's very surprising that we are pregnant--we were visiting friends across the country, including our sperm donor, and tried for #2 since I happened to be ovulating during the trip, and got very lucky!

PLANNED! Surprise! Both!!!

We've been ttc with help for more than 2 years, and ttc on our own for 3 before that. We've had 2 losses and I am SO excited to be here!!

Sort of both. I've been trying for a bit, but not this month. This is truly a huge surprise. I've been so busy with my doula and CBE certifications that I've been at the hospital several nights a week. I O'd about 6 days after we last DTD, and wow! So much for TCOYF's rules!

After TTC for 2 years and being told I had infertility it was PLANNED! But I was in denial that we would ever get pregnant again....so in that case it was a surprise to see 2 lines on that wonderful test!

But a long awaited for planned surprise! :)
