I'm 30 weeks and have an inguinal hernia. Has anyone heard of this happening during pregnancy? If so, what should I be concerned about and what are the chances of a vaginal delivery? Thank you!

I have what we believe is a hernia next to the incision site of my c-section from three years ago. It was only discovered after this pregnancy, but should have no impact on a VBAC.

I hope you get some answers! :hug

I have a small hernia above my navel from my pregnancy with DC #1 (he's now 2). I also had and still have a diastasis recti (split abdominal muscles).

My midwife told me to watch for signs of intestinal incarceration (you can google this...I think some people get pain, nausea, etc.) as that is a medical emergency.I wish you lufk

I would have liked to get it fixed before this pg'cy, but with nursing DC #1, etc. I never got around to it, and became unexpectedly pg again.

I think an inguinal hernia is a slightly higher risk of incarceration, so watch for that. I read a few sites recently that said it shouldn't impact vaginal birth, and the general consensus I got from reading is that it is okay to let it go until after the baby is born provided it isn't bothering you. If you do need surgery, the 2nd trimester is the best time to have surgery, but overall it is considered a pretty safe surgery.

I wish you luck. I'm a little worried about what the rest of this pgcy will do to my hernia, but I'm trying not to stress.
