Hey! I'm so excited, I just order my first cloth diaper!
I got the trial cloth diaper kit from Green Mountain Diapers and 1 AIO for my toddler! I really wanted to cloth diaper when she was a baby, but I was going back to work so I couldn't. But now I'm expecting again and I know I'm going to quit work soon, I figured I'll give them a try on her first.
Then I get to buy lots of little bitty ones! :lol
Is any one else here that plans on CD for the first time with this bebe?

Not for the 1st time, I started at 4 months with ds1...but I usually have a small stash, so they get all used up by the time they outgrow them...I'll be making a completely new stash!

Oooh, diapers! Congrats on your first fluffy mail Casie!
I CD'd ds for the latter part of his diapering career and am so looking forward to CDing this one from birth. :love Some of these little tiny diapers just kill me with their cuteness. I do have a bit of a stash together already and a buying/sewing plan all figured out for the rest. (Oh that sounds so bad when I type it out! :bag: I spent way too much time with tiny diapers on my mind while TTC.) I'm planning on fitteds and wool, organics as much as feasible, and I just started knitting a tiny pair of longies last night.
I think it's important to love your diapers because it helps make the best out of a not always fun job. Or at least that's my official story to dh when I want to buy them. :lol

I really want to do CD this time... I didn't before. I would even like to make them myself, but I don't know the first thing about it. I have a bunch of research to do! I just remember the first couple months or so with DD, the messes were extraordinarily explosive. Even those premium diapers couldn't keep it in sometimes... do the cloth do ok with that? I was kind of thinking of doing disposable for the first couple months and then switching to cloth. Maybe that's not really necessary?

ohh i am! i just found out that fuzzi bunz is comming out with colors for their xs dipes!! how can i resist that? i already have a ton of infant prefolds i had started to collect for the last one...i actually don't mind not having diped my others since birth, it gave me a chance to figure out what i like and what works withough spending the $$ on those cute newborn dipes that they will wear for a couple months...lol...but i think i'm going to go with some fuzzi bunz for outings, some nb mutts for grandma's house and prefolds that i may convert to prefitteds for simplicity :-) (and for bf poo!) oh and a TON of wool :lol thank god i have 9 months to collect!!

Jenny, when I switched to cd at 4 mths with ds1, I found I wasn't doing much more laundry -- because I didn't have to wash copious amounts of clothing anymore -- I didn't have a leak on clothes for MONTHS after I switched. If you decide to sew them, I'll give ya any pointers I can -- also check out the diaper sewing forum here. :D

I started CDing my son when he was almost a year old, so I only have large diapers. I'm looking forward to checking out cloth dipes again, and sending CD urls to the grandparents, so they can go nuts buying cute dipes!

We'll be CD'ing and EC'ing from the start (first baby).
I've had a stash growing for about two or three years now... :hide: But all my own, haven't bought anything.
Yet...

This'll be my second time around CD'ing. From birth until about 7 months Julian was in prefolds (we had a diaper service.) I've already started making fitteds and contours for this baby so we can go that route. :love

Carolynn, that's good to know to reduce my leakage fears! I can't wait to start looking into the diaper sewing forum... but I just gotta get past this nausea before I can start any projects...

Astromom, there is an AWESOME diaper sewing forum that was made after we were told we wern't allowed to show our diaper sewing creations in the MDC diaper forum. Its chalk full of tutorials, swaps, co-ops, etc. Its an awesome place.
Here's the link. (http://diaperdivas.proboards57.com/index.cgi)
This is the first time I'll be CD'ing from birth. I didn't start DS until he was 7 months old.

The girls were both CD from birth. My older DD probably wore a total of 10 sposies her entire life and my younger DD never wore one :thumb
We thought we were done so I sold off all my NB diapers which just gives me an excuse to buy more :D
I do still have a bunch of med & large FBs and I have embroidered most of them :D

Keri -- I LOVE your stuff. :D I was ogling it the other day -- dh was dumfounded at the prices of the CD sets. He says "and it's already sold?" I told them people were lining up! :lol He doesn't get it, obviously (although I do -- totally worth it ;) ).
I'm going to have to get my hands on some of those mama tanks etc. this baby. And I'm crossing my fingers that I can claim a homebirthing shirt for this baby too. :D
Okay, back on topic -- with ds2 (failed hbac) when I was packing to leave the hospital, I took the formula out of the "bfing bag" as well as all the disposables. The nurse came in at the time & didn't seem shocked at all. I said "nope" and proceeded to put his first cloth dipe on him. I'm pretty sure the entire staff had been warned about the crazy hippy mom -- no one gave me any flack about cosleeping (dozing is more like it) with him, and I don't think they even offered to take him to the nursery. I was also released a bare 36 hours after surgery -- 2 days is usually the bare minimum. Gotta get rid of the crazies, I guess. :lol

I just started cutting out and sewing my thrifty recycled clothes diapers.:sew I am starting with the tiny little ones and will move my way up in size. They are turing out so cute! Its nice to know that all I will need to buy to diaper this little one is some wool so I can knit some longies and butt covers.:knit They are going so quickly that I think Im going to applique on the butts of them too. I am in :heartbeat with my diapers!
