Hey all.

I had my ultrasound level two today and all looks good. When I went in with my age of 40 statistics say 1 in 90 babies born are downs but now that this went well it changes the numbers to 1 in 180 so I feel better and my sugar test was normal. So I am ready to celebrate Cha Cha tomorrow.

KJ - I'm so glad your visit went well! That is awesome. By the way I did get your PM and I will try to call you this week. I love to cook, so would love to share with you. I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier but was out of town.
Hope everyone is well. I will go for my US on 3/27. I think we've decided to be suprised and not learn the sex of our babe! Gotta work.......

Thanks for starting this thread, Kathy Jo! I meant to after that post, but then got distracted by work...imagine that! Work?!?
And congratulations on your u/s! That is great news!

I had mine today, and the wee one looks great! So happy and relieved! Plus, we did find out...we're having a girl! :D It was soooo cute to see dh watching the baby on the u/s screen...he was amazed! The whole experience was fabulous. And we have pictures of her cute little nose to boot!

Greetings, everybody! So good to hear how well folks are doing. I'm not due until late August, so I'm a few weeks behind a bunch of you, but overall I'm feeling really good, too!

The big thing I've been struggling with (both physically and worry-wise) has been pelvic and lower back pain, but after starting a prenatal yoga class and seeing a great physical therapist yesterday, I'm so much more optimistic about managing it.

We don't have a U/S until 4/9. Still haven't decided about whether to learn the baby's gender or not. DH wants to this time (we didn't with DS), but I just go back and forth. Agh! At this moment I'm leaning toward not finding out, but who knows where I'll be in three weeks.

Anybody else having trouble sleeping? I wake up 35 times a night and then take forever to get back to sleep -- no matter how exhausted I am. OK, so I'm exaggering a BIT. But still!

Peace to one and all,
darcy

Darcy, I feel the same way. I swear I don't sleep longer than 20 minutes at a stretch. I took a 2 hour nap today though. I think we are all coming down with something.:(

we have our us on monday. We are gonna wait and be suprised about the sex

I see the Dr again tomorrow and hope to find out the baby's sex. So far, things with the pregnancy seem to be going okay still. The Dr checks every time I see him to make sure that the loss of Mica isn't negatively impacting Sam, and so far, Sam has been doing fine... hopefully it will stay that way!!!

I only wake up 3x a night to go pee these days (much better than before!) I do have trouble getting comfortable every couple of nights -- like I am SO tired that I just can't get to sleep. I still need 8-10 hours of sleep a night to function during the day, but in the first trimester, I was needing 12-14 hours of sleep + naps to survive.... it was nuts...

My DP is still unemployed (2 months now) and $ is getting tighter and tighter -- we really thought she'd be able to find a job by now.... It is getting really discouraging. I changed from her health insurance (it was GREAT) to my pitiful company insurance -- and I just got accepted for Medicaid as a secondary insurance to help cover our out of pocket expenses. DP still is with out insurance and so is DS who is 19 now. Kinda scary them being without insurance.... especially DP because she has asthma, arthritis and diabetes.

I have been looking for great deals on cloth diapers on ebay and the trading post.... I figured I would get some now while we still has SOME money -- since I didn't know how much worse it would get until it got better. We are at the point of DP looking for work outside of Tulsa (if it's in her field) and here in Tulsa, she is looking outside of her field at other types of positions and STILL NO LUCK!!!!

I am 19 weeks this week -- can't believe we are almost 1/2 way!!! Anyone else finding that hard to believe???

I just had my ultrasound today. Didn't want one, dh did, soo, I caved. But we did not/will not find out sex. It was very reassuring to know that the placenta is up nice and high, nowhere near cervix or scar. One less obstacle. My hospital doesn't want to do vbacs anymore. After all, ACOG says you should have 24 hour anesthesia present. Ugh. Well, I'll show them when I give birth in the foyer. Halfway there. Yay. It's really getting to the fun stuff now, isn't it? I love those little kicks:)

Wow, it's ultrasound week I guess!! Glad they all went well! I didn't have one w/ dd and don't plan to this time unless something comes up. So hopefully I won't need too!

I've been feeling pretty good too! It's great to finally have that m/s gone and a tiny bit more energy. Still taking naps most days though.

Anyone else having name dilemas? I can't find any that I like. Or else a friend or family member used the name I like for their kids!

Hello all!

Annais, congratulations on your little girl! I won't be finding out the gender! I do have an ultrasound scheduled April 1st, because the first one I had (to see if I was carrying twins) showed my placenta laying low, so my midwife just wants to make sure it corrected itself! Otherwise, I wouldn't be having this u/s!

I'm feeling much better than I was ,I really want to start working out again. I'm gaining weight where i should not be, I was doing so well pre-pg, with my work outs and feeling healthy, I want to feel that way again.

I've also been feeling the baby more regularly now, it's great! So Annais, were are now 19 wks, is that right? (we have the same due date!)

Thanks, mamasoleil!!!!! :love

I will officially be 19 weeks on Sunday, so I guess I'm 18 1/2 weeks. I didn't realize that we had the same due date!!! How exciting! The u/s tech said that our baby was measuring at 19 weeks, and I think I usually ovulate around day 11 or 12, so I could officially be 19 weeks. :D It's kind of funny, 'cause dh didn't want to find out the gender, and now he's so glad he knows; I think it helps him bond with her more. But it would also be fun to find out on the babe's birthday, too!

Good luck with your u/s, mamasoleil. I'm sure that placenta has moved right on out of the way!

I'm feeling the baby squirm SO much now. It's so amazing (but a little strange to get used to!)!!

We had a little vacation last week and I slept horribly while gone, but I'm sleeping better than ever now that we're back home! I'm crossing my fingers that this trend keeps up. I still wake up to pee about 2x each night, but at least I can easily fall asleep again.

We're also skipping the ultra sound unless the midwife decides there's a good reason. It amazes me how many funny responses I've gotten from people when they ask. It seems that "EVERYONE" get an ultrasound these days and it's SO strange not to. No one knows what to say.

We're having a terrible time with boy names. Smeta, I'm having the same problem as you. Don't like any names or the ones I do like have recently been used by a close friend. DH doesn't seem to think that's a problem and we should just pick a name we like. But I have mixed feelings about most of the names that we sort of agree on! I'm convinced the baby will be born and we still won't have a name. I guess worse things could happen....

Happy almost 1/2 way point everyone!!! I can't believe it! :)

We have solved the name dilemma. After 4 kids we finally figured it out.

We just don't talk about it til they are born.:eek That is what we did with Sarah and it worked great.

congrats on all the good news mamas. My ultrasound (my one and only) is Monday morning. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow.

We're hoping that if theres a fibroid its not anywhere near my cervix hindering vbac chances... and of course we're really hopin theres no fibroid at all.

I also will hope that baby will cooperate so we can find out gender. We have decided we need time if it is a boy to make plans and decisions, so we do want to know. Tho i have to say i'm so SURE its a third girl. lol

lots of movement now, and braxton hicks like crazy. Anyone else extremely congested or is it just me in arizona after the rain? actually i've been congested since december! I wake up every 2-3 hours all night to use the restroom and blow my nose lol

as for names... i don't think we'll decide till baby comes. I really want to name a girl for my mom, she passed 11 years ago. Her name was Anita Eve and i want to use Eve or Eva. So i like
Eva Saige alot right now. Dh isn't so sure tho.

anyway.. will post on Monday after my u/s. But looking forward to hearing how everyone is doing!

Me too! How funny is that. I am having my U/S next week. I heard of people putting a sign on their forehead "Don't tell me the Gender"

I must say I haven't felt much kicking yet, nor too tired. Just lately I'm getting menstrual-type backaches. Of course the vivid dreams and waking up at least once a night.

Has anyone else on their 1st pregnancy felt nothing too out of the ordinary yet? I'm just beginning to fit into maternity clothes (and I'm not that small when not pg!)

RachelMolly,

I am in my first pregnancy and haven't really felt movement yet -- One reason we know this is the case for me is that the placenta is on the front of the uterus and when the baby kicks and moves, it hits that placenta -- the Dr and Midwife have both said that it will take until the uterus stretches more and the baby can land some blows that DON'T hit the placenta for me to feel movement -- maybe it is the same for you, who knows!?

I am also edd 8/15/03 -- guess there was alot of activity around and about Nov 20th ;-)

My dr appt got rescheduled until tomorrow (monday), so hopefully I will learn the sex tomorrow -- if the baby cooperates this time! If not, then hey it will just continue to be mystery baby!

I am 20 wks, 1 day now! More than halfway there, esp because I'm carrying twins...

I had my very first (ever) BH contraction yesterday. I didn't have any, or rather, didn't feel any with my daughter, and I think that becaus my uterus is fuller than that pregnancy, I'll be feeling much more.

I can't remember if I posted in this thread about our US... we had one March 11 and found out that we are expecting a boy and a girl. There are also a few "problems" that have arrisen-- Baby Boy has a SUA and no abnormalities have been found, but I have an echocardiogram scheduled for next week sometime to check more closely. My perinatologist thinks I may have an underlying kidney problem that has never been diagnosed that is causing elevated blood pressure and protein loss. We won't know anything until after I deliver, but for now, we'll have to treat this like it was a plain ole case of preeclampsia (I had it the first time around, too). I also only have one uterine artery that is functioning properly. Oh, joy. It basically all means that I have to rest more than I normally would and more doctors' visits between now and when I deliver, with an induction or c-section more likely than before (if something goes wrong, they will deliver right away). It's hard to imagine that my babies might be here in 3 months or so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for August, though.

The babies are squirming around like crazy, and even at this early stage, it gets uncomfortable at times... something that didn't happen until I was 30+ weeks along with dd! I guess everything is different when you're expecting twins.

So far the only complaints I have are the incredible back aches (I seriously look like I am 8 months pregnant) and the overall tiredness. I'm guessing both of those are only going to get worse, though... I guess I should get used to it! :p

another August 15th due date here- geez, must have been something in the air that day!!!! I'm doing well now that the MS has passed- not too tired or achey. I haven't found out the sex yet, but have an U/S in a couple of weeks, so will then.

just thinking it is cool that we have four of us due in August from Minneapolis on this thread, nostrow, seagan, smeta and me. You are all cool though.

My ds turned two on Wednesday and he has not weaned sense. I was hoping he would wean by his second birthday and he did. I am happy about it.

I am about 20 weeks and have not felt any movement yet. I heard you always feel movement earlier with number two. I don't remember when it started for number one.

I have a fun story from my midwife appointment today. She wanted to try using the fetoscope to see if we could hear the heartbeat that way yet. Just as she was getting it out, the baby started moving around a lot. As she started listening, I felt a big thump and she jumped and said, "that was one strong kick!" :D I've been feeling lots of rumblings, but this was probably the strongest kick yet! My kid is already showing off! Poor dh, he was sitting there saying, "not fair! Why can't I feel it yet!"

Otherwise, all is well. I'm measuring right on and everything looks and sounds perfect! YAY!

We had our Dr appt yesterday -- still don't know the sex of the baby -- At this rate, we may not get to find out -- I know some Mom's don't want to know, but I do and am both disappointed and bemused at Sam that we still don't know -- I guess this is fair warning that we are having a strong willed child!!!! LOL

Sam was measuring a little "ahead" but within the appropriate ranges -- there is no mistaking the due date since we did insemination and there are no questions on THAT end....

I can't believe we are 1/2 way there! It seems a little unreal.

Good luck to all you other August mamas!!!!

kathy

ps: having TONS of fun buying cloth diapers.... I got 6 squishy packages in the mail yesterday!!! They all came the same day -- it was better than Christmas!!!

Had another appt today.

There was no protein in my urine, but my blood pressure was up again (144/92) and I was started on medication to help control it. I have a history of Preeclampsia and pregnancy-induced hypertension, and nothing we do, diet-wise will help, so meds are basically our only option.

Doc raised my "likelihood" of having a c-section to 50%. I asked about it and she told me not to plan on haivng one, but be prepared and educated about it, in case we do.

I have a fetal echocardiogram scheduled for Monday, to check out Twin A's heart
and maybe get a peak at his kidneys, too. Then I have another ultrasound a week after that. Oh, joy. I must admit, though, that when you are having difficulties, it is quite a relief to see your babies on the screen.

Went to my prenatal today.
All was well except
My midwife told me Charlie was 9.15 that a VBAC might be even harder for me cuz 2nd babies are usually bigger. depressing.
Lost another two pounds but they are not worried.
Happens with bigger girls often.
And, I have a yeast infection. GRRR!!!!! I thought my underwear were rubbing like too small or something. Dang!

I have a great maternity find. I found the best maternity underwear at Target. They are seamless microfiber and come in bikini, brief or thong (congrats if you are that brave.) They come in a pack of 3 for around $10 and are soooooo comfortable. I don't normally go around chatting about my undies but I figure when you find a good thing you should pass it along.

Annais, I'm pretty sure I o'd on the 11 or 12th day too!!! So, my prenatal was cancelled this wk cause my midwife was up all night at a birth. SO, I now go for my u/s and prenatal on Tuesday. If the baby allows it, we will find out the gender, dh is DYING to know.. I want to keep it a guessing game...but I need to let him make some decisions....and the name isn't part of that! :LOL

Half way there...unbelievable. This pg is flying compared to my first! Anyone else with #2 finding this? But I'm working, parenting, keeping busy...makes sense I guess. Is the babe ever making himself/herself known...I'm trying not to stress out on names...but man, it's so hard to find another SWEET FRENCH name...ARGH.

I read in my Dr. Sears pregnancy book that you can start to feel movement anytime between 16 weeks and 24 weeks, if that helps any! :D

Yes, I thought as time progressed we would shorten our list of names, but, um, it keeps growing. First we had two, now we have four! Ah! They are:

Anna Grace
Elena
Iris
Isabel

No middle names yet for the last three. But I keep asking the little one to help me decide. And lately, when I think of what life will be like after she's here in August, the name Anna pops into my mind, like "When I go to the grocery store, Anna will stay with her daddy..." Maybe that's my hint? But I'm also in love with Iris, right now, maybe because it's finally spring!
I didn't think the naming part would be so hard!
Take care everyone!
Congratulations on your baby boy, Colorful~Mama!
And thanks for the undies info at Target, laurag! I need to head there, like right this minute.

I like Iris too. I would like to use that but dh doesn't want it. He stuck two names he decided on before we even got pregnany and I'm not sure I can get him to change his mind!

For those hoping for movement - I think the best time is in the evening after dinner or after a snack. Sit or lay down being still for awhile and see if that helps!

I'm wearing maternity pants for the first time today. So far I've managed to pull a rubber band over the button and wear longer shirts, but I'm running out of options!

Sharon
03-31-2003, 06:00 PM
Annais, I love all those name choices! Elaine is our girl name - that was my middle name and I dropped it and took my maiden name as my middle name. Want to keep the name around. I would prefer to use Elena, but Dh has a cousin Elena and he wants to use MY name, not her's.

I mostly feel the baby move at night or first thing in the morning when I've stopped moving around. There have only been a few times when it's strong enough to distract me from what I'm doing. Otherwise, I have to be concentrating to feel it. I've heard that the location of your placenta can make a difference as to when you feel it.

This is my first and I've been in maternity pants for a couple weeks. A friend loaned me her overalls...ahhh, those are the BEST! I can only imagine how wonderful they'll be when I'm even bigger!! A warning about drawstrings: if you have to tie slip knots, make sure you pull on the right loop when undoing them! I pulled on the wrong loop and tried a nice tight knot and got stuck in my pants until we finally cut it....and of course I had to pee!!!

I am at 21 weeks and have only felt a little movement here and there just beginning the last few days. If I remember right - I didn't really start feeling dd until about this time too. The best time seems to be at night in bed before I fall asleep or when I am in a warm bath. For those of you just starting to wear materinity clothes - WOW! I have been wearing nothing but for at least 6 weeks. That belly sure does pop alot earlier the second time around! I have an ultrasound on Thurs to check on my fibroid and I am hoping we will get to know the sex. We loved being surprised with dd, but this time we want to know.

Hi everyone,

It's great to hear how you all are doing. It really helps me to put my own pg in perspective, although I have to say, I've been wearing maternity clothes since the second or third month! Second kid, I guess. I also am feeling the baby move a lot, but maybe she's just a kicker!

I'm on spring break from my job and have finally gotten a chance to focus more on the baby. It's still hard with ds and everything else going on... I'm finding that during yoga is one time that I try to concentrate on her. Anyone else with a second pg feeling this way?

I'm going for physical therapy for my sciatica (sp) today. It's been much better the last few weeks but was so bad I could hardly walk. That's my biggest symptom. Otherwise, I'm getting the second trimester "I feel great" rush--a real change from the first pg where I felt awful the whole time!

Happy spring (if it would ever get here!),

well i guess i'm 21 wks and 4 days now and man my boy is MOVING. lol. i had felt flutters for the last 2 weeks off and on but now i've got real little pops and jolts goign on in there. nothing strong enough for anyone else to feel yet but its such a nice feeing to know he's wiggling around happily in there.

i'm still huge. PPl look at me and can't believe i'm not due till august. i go into the midwife again on the 14th and i'm sure i'm still measuring at least 2-3 weeks ahead. oh well, long as everythings ok on the inside guess i'll just be huge.

my uncle has taken over for me in finding and hiring a mohel so i'm happy bout that (no debates please) and now just still doing the name thing. I posted a new thread. i found my name and dh doesn't want to use it.

otherwise feeling good. still not sleeping well tho. man i'm up every 3 hours to pee or blow my nose. and i keep ending up on my back!

ok off to do laundry and dye a bunch of playsilks. have a great day!

We had the u/s this morning and found out we are having another girl!! :)
I am happy but dh was a little disappointed, he wanted a boy.
What's more important is the baby looks fine and healthy, dd sat next to me on the bed and kept saying, "Baby's swimming!!"

I've been feeling movements since abt 17 weeks, from small little flutters to minor kicks, and soon i know there will be karate kicks, lol!! I've been in maternity clothes since 12 weeks! Belly seems bigger than before but I can't really remember!!

Oh, I can't help smiling imagining my girls in identical dresses! Did you all see that incredibly cute & pretty patchwork fairy dress Lala made? (There's a link in the Crafts board)... oh, that's what I shd learn to make....

oh, I always admire pple who have the patience to wait till the birth to find out the sex! I will be bursting to know!!

With dd1, we cld not really see the sex at 20 weeks, but we had another ultrasound at 32 weeks (before an int'l flight), that's when we found out, hooray!! Before that, we saw some real cute cute cute French baby clothes on sale, and had to buy all those yellow ones, urgh!! I mean, I love babies dressed in white, but, call me typical & boring and whatevers, but girls do look cute in pink!! :p

Just found out we are also having another girl! I really have felt this one was a girl all along. I had a very powerful dream a few months back where she told me her name was Hannah. Funny since we hadn't even thought of that name before- but now we love it and it will be her name! Well after getting a weird Afp result that was wrong I might add! we went in for an ultrasound and found that we are having a boy! After sweating it out about the test for a week we decided finding out would make things brighter! We were happy to see our beautiful baby boy healthy as can be and were overjoyed to find we were having a boy. We already have a3 year old fairy girl Lilyana Rain, so its a blessing to now have a boy!My husband although he never said he wanted a boy (outloud) is walking around with a perma grin!!:D

My intuition already told me it was a boy but its neat to be right!
We already have his first name which is River but havent come up with a middle name yet!
Just had to share our news!

Congratulations Willow and Laurag...I have to say, I'm a *little* disappointed to not know the sex of this little babe...but the guessing is fun I guess. Knowing would've helped with name choosing argh!!!

I'm glad we are all doing well, and our little ones all seem to thriving.

Keep on keeping on!

I've had a couple of fun things happen recently. I've had several strangers comment on my pregnancy so I guess I'm beyond the "is she fat or pregnant" guessing game! These comments have made me feel sooo good! :) I'm really loving being pregnant right now. I feel healthy and beautiful and special!

John, my husband, felt the baby move a couple days ago. He wasn't SURE the first time, but last night it was kicking SO hard and he felt it for about 5 minutes straight. He's thrilled and I love being able to share those movements with him!!!

Today I had a great pregnancy brain moment. I had to work this morning and slept horribly last night. So I was frantically running around trying to get food ready to take with me and get out the door before I was too late! Well, after being at work for an hour and a half, I suddenly realized I was wearing my slippers!!! First I was shocked that I was wearing my slippers and then I was shocked that it took me SO long to notice!! :LOL

:LOL :rotflmao that's hilarious Sharon!

Anyone else having ligament stretching pains? My left side was aching for a few hours last night. Had me a little worried, but I think it is just the ligaments. In my 1st pg. I got horrible ligament pains when I would go for walks around the 5-6th months - couldn't last longer than 15-20 minutes! Guess that's starting again. But I was just sitting around last night so it seemed weird.

Congratulations on the great ultrasounds! :D

Smeta- I'm having those pains, too. Sometimes they will stop me in my tracks! But they are very brief, so I'm trying not to worry about them. I figure it's ligament pain, too.

I've been trying to get dh to feel her kick, but as soon as he puts his hand on my belly, she gets shy and stops kicking altogether. Maybe it's too much pressure! She kicked really hard last night while we were watching Road to Perdition, during the Irish jig scene, so we figure she must love music already! :wink Which is a good thing since her daddy's in a band and they practice in our basement.

Take care everyone!

i just have to share that dh felt kicks last night for the first time. was about 10:30pm and i ate something sweet (*blush*) and baby boy was bouncing in there. i told dh to come over and see if he could feel it since it felt so strong to me

and sure enough he felt baby kick! he says "oh. that was one". "oh , there was another". lol. Big excitement here last night. Now i can't wait to let my dd's feel... my oldest is 13 and has been waiting and feeling my tummy for two weeks now and little zoey is only 30 months and i think she's going to freak out!!

yay. they can feel baby move too (22 weeks 4 days or so)

:)

Colorful Mama, isn't it just the best when your dh can feel the baby?! It's added a completely different dimension to the pregnancy and we both love it so much!

No aches or pains here to speak of. Well, just the ongoing tailbone pain I've had ever since mid-Feb when I flew cross country....And that's manageable as long as I sit properly. I just can't believe it hasn't gone away. Sometimes I get really worried about it.

I looked in the mirror this morning after my shower and thought,"Is that really me?!" I can't believe how much my body has changed over the last few months. I actually love it, but just can't believe it sometimes!

smeta,
Wow! I have had alot of round ligament pain/stretching with this pg,too. Especially when I get up/quickly change positions.

It is great to get back on this thread now that I have some time. Good to know everyone is doing so well. I can't believe we are halfway there already. This pregnancy is going by faster than my first...

Looking forward to another prenatal week after next. I love to hear that heartbeat!:love

This pg is flying eh?! Annais, my dh is in a band too, what instrument does your's play? MIne plays drums and guitar.
This baby is such a kicker! We don't even have to put our hands on my tummy anymore, we can just lay there, and watch my stomach move. too cool! :love

That's too cool, mamasoleil!

My dh plays guitar and sings, and I have to proudly say he writes all of their songs. :D He also named the band...The Lickables. They're kind of goofy.
Punky-pop stuff.
What kind of music does your dh play?

So, I just thought I'd share: our littlest dog, she's about 40 pounds, ate an ENTIRE package of cookies yesterday. About 60 of 'em...needless to say she was up all night, very sick...dh stayed up with her, so I think he's getting good practice for August!

Hi, everybody! Thought I'd check in on this momentous day, the 20-week, halfway point exactly for me. It's amazing to me how quickly this pregnancy is going, though I must say those first 12 weeks crawled by as I feared another miscarriage, etc. Once I got past that point, though, the speed of the days really seemed to pick up. At least for now...I remember how slowly time went again toward the end of my pregnancy with DS.

We had an ultrasound this week and everything looked good and healthy, thank goodness. I was struck by how differently DH and I reacted to this U/S, too, compared to the one we had when I was pregnant with DS. With that one, we were just so excited and happy and blown away by the chance to see our little baby. This time around, we were so much more focused on whether they would find some problem or something. I was just on pins and needles the whole time, and totally drained afterwards, despite being handed such great news.

Otherwise, I'm feeling good, and hope you all are, too!

darcy

P.S. Oh, and I have a musician DH, too! What is it about musicians in November and December, I wonder? Anyway, DH plays bass and sings in a couple of bands that play old honkytonk, western swing type stuff. He's a crooner! Tomorrow DS gets to see him play on stage for the first time...I can hardly wait to see the look on both their faces!

We had another Dr appointment yesterday.... The Dr did an u/s and his best guess is that Sam is going to be a Samantha.....

But the even bigger news is that during the u/s, Sam rolled over and I could watch and feel Sam move all at the same time -- what is really cool about this is that by seeing and feeling the movement at the same time, I discovered that what I had not recognized as baby movement has been, in fact, something I have been feeling for a while now..... So today, I felt what I now know for sure is baby movement off and on ALL DAY LONG!!!!! It has been a GREAT day!!!!!

YIPPEE!!!!!!!!

Welcome Mommy960003.

Seagan I pm'd you. Would love to meet you before our babes are born or after. Are you interested in going to a childbirthcollective meeting.

I have to tell you all. I think I decided on my doula. I was struggling cuz the one who seemed like the perfect match was so polished for me and then I realized I am being defensive cuz I am so afraid of the VBAC.

Willow Tree, wow congrats and River is a neat name.

Earth, where do you get cute French clothes?? Love European clothes and shoes.

I think we are going with Edward John and Angelyn RoseMarie.
I added the Marie to Angelyn Rose recently as my good friend Maria has terminal brain cancer. I want to know the gender. DH does not so I am giving him that.

I've been snooping ard ebay too...

It's been one heck of a wild week here! In March, my in-laws said they wanted to give us some money to help us buy a house before the baby came. So we've been trying really hard to save the extra we need to make it happen. Well, we got pre-approved for a loan last thursday (a week ago today!) and we made an offer on a place on Tuesday, accepted the counter offer yesterday and are having the inspection today! My dh is a realtor so that made it much easier, but it's so completely overwhelming!!! I told my parents last night (after we accepted the counter offer) that I feel like a kid coming off of a week long Halloween sugar high! I've been running on adrenaline for the past week! To top it all off, I had a midwife appointment yesterday. I told her the whole story and we figured my blood pressure would be a bit high! Surprisingly, it was only a little higher than usual! All I can say is thank goodness the house and baby are two wonderful changes because if they were bad, I can't imagine how stressed I would be!!! I had yoga yesterday morning (we still hadn't heard what the counter offer was yet) and it was certainly an interesting challenge trying to relax and concentrate on the class instead of thinking about the house!

Well Iam now 24 weeks pregnant! It seems surreal! However I must admit the 2nd pregnancy hasnt been as blissful as the first!! I dont know about any other secondtime around mama's but every muscle in my body feels sore, I already have siattica with this baby and I am always exhausted! I didnt have any of these symptoms with lily until last trimester, and I have less weight gain with this baby at this point in the pregnancy! I keep telling myself it because now i have a 3 year old to keep up with! But I have to admit this experience may permantly thwart any attempts at # 3!
I know i sound like a whiner but iam in a funk right now and wanting to get out of it! Maybe I need more sunshine! This northern CA rain is making it worse!

Anyway I do love being pregnant and i know i will miss it when its over River is kicking so much now and he really responds to Lily when ever she talks to him or play loudly or touches my belly he just goes buckwild! It is so sweet I tell her how much he loves her already and she beams!
Well mamas thats all the ranting time i have for know the sun is peeking and we must get outside for at least 15 mins!
Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying our lil kickers!
peace and :love

I am with you Willowtree. This preganncy is not as "fun" as the first. I still love being pregnant, but I am definitely feeling the aches and pains and funk more this time. I also have not gained as much weight yet and think it must be from keeping up with a 20 month old.

I had my first meeting with my Doula yesterday and it went really well. I did phone interviews with about 6 people before I chose her and meeting her in person made me feel more sure that I had made the right choice. We really seemed to click and I am excited about working with her. It also made my upcoming birth seem more real - it is not so far away anymore!

Hi there, mamas-to-be! I'm 22 weeks today and feeling pretty good, though man oh man I struggle with fatigue so much and am feeling pain in my lower back/SI joint more and more -- I'm another case of a 2nd pregnancy seeming way tougher on the bod than the first was.

In our case, too, I think a #3 kiddlywink is probably out of the picture, unless we adopt or something. If I'm this achy and tired with this pregnancy at 36 with one 3-year old, I can't imagine being 38 or 40 or something and going through this again with two little ones running around, at least in this body! Maybe somehow I'll strengthen up again and be up for it, but I just kinda doubt it...

And here's a question for you all: has anyone else entered a phase where you get suddenly hit with these little anxiety attacks here and there? I'm finding that out of the blue, I'll suddenly start panicking about either (1) going through childbirth again, (2) caring for a newborn again, or (3) whether we've made a mistake in having another child at all -- if I've got the energy, if I'm a good enough Mom, what it will do to DS, etc. etc.

The panic usually floats away as quickly as it came on, but it's disconcerting to say the least! Like this worrywart needs more self-doubt and anxiety, even in short bursts!

Anyway, I wondered if maybe this is common at this stage of a pregnancy. I don't remember how it was with DS. I just know these worries weren't as pronounced in the first trimester, and they seem to have a real rhythm and purpose now. Maybe they're the Braxton Hicks of the psyche or something -- practice worry for motherhood!

Hoping all is well with everybody else,
darcy

Annais
04-25-2003, 10:54 AM
Darcy, I am having them too!

I am prone to panic attacks anyway, but I've really good for awhile. But I had one last night, just a little nudging one, because I was calling a potential doula back, and then it was like "OMG, this is really going to happen. Can I do it?..." and on and on. But I'm fine today! I am really excited to be a mama, but I think those little doubts about my capacity to deal kind of get the better of me now and again. But I did read in my Dr. Sears Pregnancy Book that panic attacks and anxiety are pretty common starting in the second trimester. That makes me feel better!

I'm so glad to hear everyone is doing well! It's going by so fast!
