I have been starting to swell, a little all over, but my legs and ankles are so swollen that I am having troubling sitting down or moving them much at all. They are firm to the touch, and I have some scars on them that have started to puff out from the extra fluid. :( I have never had swelling before and it is worrying me.

I have tried looking it up online, but all that I can find is about swelling in the third trimester, not at 5 weeks. I did read that heat can cause some swelling (and its been getting up to 105 or so here in TX) so maybe thats it...

Does anyone have any experience with this, or any idea of what i can do to try to help my poor body out. I would like to try to fix it on my own before heading to the doctor (i dont have one yet and if I can make it till 12 or so weeks, the bithing center i want to use will accept my health insu.)

Thank you so very much!

I can't really help you, but maybe you should call a primary care provider and talk about it? That, and drink lots of water, and when possible, keep you legs elevated. Good luck to you!

Some things to try:
Drink lots of water and maybe some nettle tea to help with circulation
Make sure you are getting at least 60+ grams of protein per day
Lay off sugar - even fruits high on the glycemic index
Get some exercise - preferrable indoors considering your heat
Take a swim, spend as much time as you can in a pool

I hope it gets better.

Thank you for the advice. I am doing much better today. I slept in, have been taking it easy, have not even stepped outside, and have drunk about 2 gallons of water. Now my legs are a little tight but not nearly as bad as yesterday. I hope that it keeps getting better. Now I just need to find a way to get to the pool. that sounds heavenly.:p
