View Full Version : Annapolis/Baltimore Area get together

Monica

Last fall we did an Annapolis area get together at Quiet Waters park in Annapolis, and over the winter a few of us met at Children's museum in Annapolis...Is anyone game for another get together now that the weather is getting nice? I would be willing to go closer to Baltimore so Baltimore mommies could be included. Any idea's for a place? I am not too familiar with what is between Annapolis and Baltimore. I am thinking any day of the week around 10 am. Post if you are interested and we'll see if we can work out some details.

Count me in! I haven't been to exploraworld in columbia, but I heard it was fun...someone know of a big outdoor playground?

hey, i'd love to get together! the walking trails here in columbia are starting to green up and get pretty - would a walk and/or picnic be feasible?

I'm interested, too! I am close to Annapolis, Columbia, and Baltimore! We do most of our outdoor play around the Crofton and Annapolis areas so I can't think of an outdoor place closer to to Columbia or Baltimore off-hand. Any date and place suggestions?

Centennial Lake sounds good to me too. Does anyone have any details? Playground? directions? Is it open every day? Park admission? This week is kind of crazy for me, but any day next week is great. 11 am ish with picnic lunch? What does everyone think?

I would love it but my in-laws will be in town for ten days (starting this coming Friday). If you all get together, have fun! If not until after next week (they leave the 21st), count me in!

I'm free pretty much any time, and vote that we wait until the week of April 21 so Melissa can join!

Between 11 AM and 3 PM is generally best for me, but I'm flexible...

It'll be great to meet you guys - don't know much about you, so we'll have lots to chat about!

Aww, thanks Funshine! Actually closer to 10:30 or 11:00 is OK by me (DD #2 goes down about 12:30 or 1:00 and if she falls asleep on the way home, my day is shot!). KIT!

Denise, you go there, so you should tell us where to meet, how to get there. Columbia seems to like to hide how to get to its facilities (they are just getting around to numbering their play areas since eventhe polic don't know how to find them...) The columbia website in unsuprisingly map-free. (keeping out the riff-raff I suppose.)

Centennial park is right off Route 108 (reachable by 32 and 29 most notably)

It's been several months since I've been there so i'm trying to remember. There is one main entrance that branches off into a couple different parking areas. Lots of open spaces and pavilions dotted around the path that surrounds the like. Makes a lovely but long walk.

i know on the weekends reservations are usually necessary to use a pavilion but not sure about weekdays. Since school is still in session, I'm sure one would be empty.
I think if you park in one of the areas off to the right, there's some open space there set off the main lot but with a lovely view of the lake.

I'm going to pull out my Howard County phone book and see if there's a map in there I can scan for everyone and email or whatever. I actually can't make it this time,
:crying

and clarity - you hit the nail on the head. i lived here several years before i could even figure out to get anywhere besides to work or the mall and home again lol. as for keeping out the riff raff, it's not like we don't have enough of our own lol ;) i'll see what i can do about that map tonight and at least give better directions

Thanks Debi!! I won't be delivering at Special Beginnings because we are moving in about 5 weeks. Not sure exactly where I will be when this baby is born. Dh and I are considering homebirth for this one depending on our housing situation. (I have no desire to have a home birth in an apt or navy housing) So only time will tell. Look forward to seeing everyone on Friday!

We won't be able to come, the boys are sick.

I was pretty sure we were too sick to come this afternoon, but then they were both asleep by 7:15 so now I know we should wait to meet everyone:(

I hope we plan something else soon!

Sad news, we won't be able to come either. Little one's ill. Yes, let's plan another one soon!! Thanks for waiting 'til this week for me, though. Let's keep in touch.

Have fun tomorrow!

So that sounds like Denise, Debi, Jess, me and winterbaby, right? So we're still on? If anyone else gets sick tonight, sounds like we should push back a week.

Hi! It sounds like there's a nice group going on around me. Would love to get more info for my son and I. We are in Damascus, Maryland.

It sure is. We're right on the border of Frederick County. Mt. Airy is right up the road. Where is Odenton located?

glad2bhome
05-10-2003, 09:16 PM
Odenton sounds a bit far from you. We're NE of D.C., about 20 minutes or so from Annapolis. Ever heard of Crofton or Bowie? They're about 5 minutes down the road. I certainly don't mind traveling and I know last time, we tried to find a pretty central location for everybody (even though I couldn't attend!:( ). Hope to meet you soon!

Wanted to add, mommo, that there is a helpful birthing center in Frederick that, when I was looking for like-minded community, offered to include me in their parents group! Not sure of the name, but they said they had a group that met regularly so it might be a nice way to meet new friends closer to you!:)

Thanks for the info about the moms group! Would love to get together! Any ideas of where a good place to meet might be? Oh, tomorrow there's a moms meeting in Hagerstown at a great open gym there. I know this is probably way out of your way, but just thought I'd put the offer out there. It's off of 70 West. Take 81 South. Turn right off of exit. Turn right onto Milestone Terrace. It's up one block on the left.

A couple of weeks sounds good. I heard there's a great park off of the Falls Road exit in Rockville. Ever heard of it?:p

It may be Hadley's Park, right near where I grew up! It's designed to be handicapped-accessible and is great for little ones! The entire play surface is foam-like padding and they have marked-off lines for tricycles and the like. It's across from St. Raphael's church.
