hi all,
i have a question for everyone ... more or less to see if anyone else has experienced this ... my 6 month old baby boy, who already has his two bottom front teeth, seems to be sprouting his two eyeteeth ... although this scares me a bit in terms of breastfeeding, i was wondering has anyone else experienced a strange emergence order? i know every child is different ... the two eyeteeth seem to be protruding a bit more ... the babe is handling it all pretty well ... anyway, thanks in advance for your responses/experiences.
thanks,
mary

my dd got the first four top teeth at the same time, she got all four bottoms at once too.

check this archived thread: tooth eruption (http://mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=769) I seem to remember a bunch of stories about strange eruption patterns there. It's nothing wrong, but it always helps to see you're not the only one.

thanks for your reassurance!
one more question about eyeteeth ... has anyone ever heard of the eyeteeth causing a change in the stomach acids ... i guess the idea is that because these teeth usually emerge around 18 months or so that the child would be eating solid food more and these would aid digestion etc. ... i suppose my fear really is about the fact that i have the 6 month check up on monday ... my boy is exclusively breastfed and does not seem anywhere close to wanting solids ... i would prefer to wait, but my doc told us we could start two months ago ... just anticipating the conversation on monday ... i just like to go and get him weighed and have her listen to the heart and lungs, otherwise i think i would stay away until necessary ... anyway, thanks for listening,
peace,
mary

they got the bottom 2, then things went haywire from there. She looked like a baby vampire...lol. the other babe was all uneven, getting teeth on one side but not the other for weeks. it all worked out in the end. and I BFed both of them with no changes or difficulties!

Mary, I've never heard about hte stomach fluid thing, but that doesn't mean it's not true of course :) Still, it seems strange that the eyeteeth would do that, and not the others.
When doctor discusses solids, I'd just say, "Well, he hasn't wanted any yet. The WHO recommends exclusive bf-ing for 6 months, so I've felt it was okay to do that. If he shows interest in solids, I'll definitely make those available. Isn't he gorgeous, healthy and well-fed? Everybody says so!!!" And if doc keeps going on about it, in one ear and out the other :wink
