Salaam.

I'm sonsidering having baby #3 but I have a few questions...

My last baby was a homebirth-turned-emergency c-sec because of hemmoraging due to an abrupted placenta for reasons unknown.

I'm wondering...
How long should I wait to have another baby?
What are my chances of having a succesful VBAC after an abrupted placenta?
Is ther any chance at safely having a HBAC?

I would like another baby, but the whole last experience was pretty frightening... not to mention the nasty hospital staff I had to deal with...

It takes between 6 to 9 months for the scar to heal, which is why it is safe to have a vbac if the children are more than 18 months apart, but not so safe, or downright dangerous depending on how close, if they are less.

Abruptions occur usually in women who have hypertension, which is why you should be monitered very closely by your health care provider during pregnancyand anyone attending you in labor.

Be careful of the scar tissue that is formed in the uterus both from the abruption and the caesarean scar. The next placenta may attach to it and adhere. If it is anywhere near the cervix, you have another problem. It is called placenta previa. It can be partial or complete. The placenta does move, so there are things that you can do to remedy this. You will need a knowlegeable and supportive attendant to help you with this.
