View Full Version : Do you have any leanings towards Boy or Girl?

I realize that we're a little early for this, but I wonder if anyone is leaning towards either gender yet?

With both of my kids, I felt like I knew the gender right away. We didn't find out the sex of DD until birth and I wasn't surprised at all to learn she was a girl. With DS, I just knew it was a boy and when we had an ultrasound, I said, "See, I told you he was a boy." I never had a doubt.

With this one, I'm not sure yet. I don't think we'll have an ultrasound this time around. I want DH to be the one to see the gender first and announce it. I'm sorta leaning towards girl...I would like another boy. Of course I am thrilled no matter what gender baby turns out to be.

Have you ever done the ring test? We did it with DS and it was accurate. I might try that one again......

The other day, my daughter said, very matter-of-fact, "Me and Mason have decided what we are going to name my new baby sister. Sparkle!":lol

This was two days before we told her I'm pregnant!

Ours is a boy  Both DH and I knew this right away, plus when DH told a friend, she immediately told him that it was a boy. DH wanted a girl:lol

With DD, I had no feelings at all either way, but 2 people told me it was a girl, one of whom did not even know I was pregnant!

When I was pg before, I knew it was a girl, but I had a m/c at 6 weeks, so I never found out if I was right.

Anyone know of any good boy names? DH likes traditional and I like unique, and we have not found even one that either of us both remotely likes. We know what the choice would be if this kid were a girl - we decided that one months ago. The boy name never got decided on...

I have no idea, but I know I kind of want a girl ;-). I'm focusing on growing a heartbeat first! Oh, speaking of, does anybody know at what week the heartbeat can generally be heard? I'm going to have a rent a doppler to preserve my sanity.

I am on the fence, but slightly leaning towards a girl. My dd is younger, has a bigger room to share (one will have to) and I have more clothing in smaller sizes for a girl. But other than that, I don't care much. I think it is a boy. I would like to find out (found out once, was surprised once) but the thought of it being wrong would negate any benefit! Dp wants to wait. We'll see.

She's so cute. Now, whenever she tells anyone about her baby sister, she says, "We're going to name her Twinkle...Uh. I mean Sparkle!"

I hope that she forgets this name soon.....I just don't think I could saddle a kid with that!

would be a darn cute nickname, though! "this is my baby sister sparkle!" oh, lordy.

i wasn't sure with dd until about a month before she was due, although i wanted a girl; i was thinking about names and thought "oh, maybe we could give the baby a middle name of scott, after my cousin" and another part of my brain responded to that with "that won't work, though, because the baby's a girl." and she was!

i don't have any sense yet with this one, but i would be happy with either! girls are great, and one of each would be neat too.

Dh always seems to know he has been right with all 6 kids, even with 12 year old ds that the u/s told us he was a she.

When I told him I was pg I said boy right? (he had a dream of a boy baby a few weeks after my m/c) and he said nope Girl. So we will see,I am not going to find out, just going to let it be a surprise.

DH and I are sorta hoping for a boy but dd is hoping for a girl. Girls are awesome so I'd love to have another girl but I know how much dh would love a boy and I already got my girl. Anyway, we will love our baby no matter what gender he/she is. I really just care about the baby being healthy.

Here's some gender prediction charts, just for fun.

I have 1 girl and 2 boys so in a way it would be nice to have another girl to even it out. But I have a feeling it's a boy and that would be wonderful as well. I'd love 3 little boys :love And then my DD could be the only princess.

We found out with the first 3 so the plan is to wait until the birth for this one :D

:yeah:

Well, we're only having one, and I'd really love to have a little girl. That's not to say I won't love and cherish a little boy! My brother has three sons and it'd be nice to add a girl to the mix. Also, I was cheated out of a mother-daughter bond and relationship with my own mother, who passed when I was just 10.

When I was pg in March I had a dream (before the BFP) that I was pg and it was a girl. Now I'm getting no dreams or vibes. It's making it a little difficult to bond with this baby. :( I had so easily and quickly bonded with the one I lost.

With dd, I had a vision 3 weeks before we found out I was pregnant about our little girl. Even though every single pg dream was of boy babies, I knew she was a girl.

A few months ago, I got a feeling that a boy was hanging around waiting to join us, and I had my first pg dream last night: I uc'ed a perfect little son! We'll see ...

The Chinese thing says "male" this time around, but that's what it said for dd, too!

The chart says Female this time, but says boy for dd, boy for ds Who knows?

My mom feels like it is a boy, I have no clue yet. We will be doing a US to find out!

Oh ... my sister did the ring test while pg with dd. She said she was never wrong and that it was a boy. I just smiled and told her there was a first time for everything. :lol

I'm leaning towards a girl. It's our first and I just feel like I "know" girls better. Right now, I'm just worried about it being healthy and hearing the heartbeat! There are a bunch of boys in our family and everyone (from across the country) are emailing me to "think pink." It's kinda annoying. Talk about pressure! :dizzy: All those Chinese things say boy...what is the ring test?

...what is the ring test?
Your wedding ring (or some other ring or pendant) is strung on a chain and suspended over your pregnant belly. If it swings back & forth in a line, it's supposed to be a boy; if it goes in a circle, it's supposed to be a girl.

I'm feeling boy. We have 2 girls. While I am kinda leaning towards wanting a 3rd girl, this will be our last bio child and I am happy with either sex. My husband suggested a boy name to me and I already think of the baby that way.

The Chinese chart thing was only right for one of my girls.

I dont know... on the one hand, I would love for my daughter to have a sister. I also have a lot more girl clothes than boy - when we found out #2 was a girl I got rid of a fair amount of boy clothes.
On the other hand, it would be great for DS to have a brother. To be honest, my dd and I have an amazing bond and I cant imagine having another daughter. So I dont know.

I think it's a boy. Before I got preggy and my mom knew we were trying, she said she had a dream that she was holding a newborn little boy in her arms. She says her dreams are usually right on about predicting babies in our family....but I just found out that my cousin is pregnant as well....I guess the little boy in the dream could very well be my cousin's baby, for all I know.

When my pastor's wife found out we are pregnant, she inadvertantly called the baby "he" and "him" and says she never does that, so she thinks it's a boy. And let me tell ya, this woman has a lot of intuition and discernment when it comes to a lot of things that are not clear to most people.

DH and I already have a boy name pretty much set in stone, and I had a feeling even before we got pregnant that our firstborn will be a boy. We'll see:wink

I think you can start hearing the heartbeat at 7 weeks faintly but it just gets stronger from there!

I am not sure what I am having right now, I guess I just need more time to get to know this one (I knew with the last two, but I'm not sure if I knew this early). I did the ring thing and it said a boy. I honestly would prefer another boy. My DD is an amazing little girl who tends to be very spirited! I just wonder what having another girl would do to that spark she has--KWIM?

I have no real preference (or inkling, at this stage) for either sex, but with two boys already, I'm a little nervous at the thought that it might be a girl. Little boys I can deal with. A little girl might be trouble :lol

well we have the two girls and my stepdaughter so odds are dh made another girl :lol I tell him its because he's so sensative :p
I feel its another girl right now, but I would love to raise a son, especially with all the female influence he'll have in the house :) He'd be a great guy
I will take either though, girl will be easier since we have everything for a girl, but then someone I work with has a ton of boy clothes she could give us

What if you are not married? Can you use a pop tab or something? :lol

You can use a threaded needle. :) That's what my mom has always done.

You can hold it over your forearm (underside up) or in front of your belly.

Circle for girl, side to side for boy.

EDITED: Forgot to mention that this test is for ALL children. For instance, with me, it goes in a circle (for dd) then stops. Then it goes side to side (boy) but then goes in a circle (girl) without stopping.
I'm a twin. It's only me and my brother, and my mom says that's what it does when she does the test. So I have no idea what this pregnancy will be! :)

since i have some of each i really don't have preferance!
but i am really feeling Girl with this one, but DH is feeling boy...
with all 3 of my others we agreed and where right about what we where going to have, we also always wait till birth to find out what the sex is:)

so maybe its twins !! since we both feel it lol

dh could be right tho cause i am not sick yet and with the girls i was sick right away, and with my son i was only sick from 8- 12 weeks :)

who knows!!
i never have had an u/s with any of my pregnancys but i am kinda really wanting to know what this one is!!! so we will see what i decided around 20 weeks! DH tho since i drilled in to him no u/s with our first, is really against having one now unless its NESSASARY... of course a phsyco wife that wants to see her baby could deem it nessasary! :)

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I've talked with other Moms too and they say the same thing: lots of ms with girls and none (or not much) with boys......hmmmm. I'm not sick this time around (just slightly nauseous every now and then), but with dd I was sooooo sick that I couldn't eat for the 1st tri.

I think I could have written this post, except it is my sister that has the ALWAYS correct baby prediction dreams.

I just know it is a boy. Plus, based on Shettles, it is pretty definitely a boy. We were in different states until the day before O. Plus, boys almost ALWAYS come first in both of our families.

Guess we'll find out, but this is the first of a planned 3, so it really doesn't matter to us!

I'm leaning towards another girl because of when we conceived. Hoping secretly (and not so secretly) for another girl as well. My family all thinks I "Need" a boy to "protect his sisters" (who are older than him and my 3 year old so far could kick butt lol). I don't really follow that thought.... the thought of raising a boy slightly freaks me out lol. I do well with girls.

I think we'll have a boy. I've thought this for a while before I got pregnant too. This would be good because dh is an only son of an only son and my father-in-law has cancer that is not responding to treatment, so dh would really like him to have an heir before he dies. Kind of silly, but it's important to dh and I would love one of either gender for different reasons. I know eventually I'll get my girl. (the ring test said boy over my belly, and over my forearm said boy then girl then boy) Although right now I don't think my dh deserves a son because we are still fighting about circumcision, I just wouldn't have to worry about this argument if it were a girl :lol . Oh, and dh is very excited that it might be a boy because when we first found out we were joking about names and one that dh said was danger. Believe it or not this was one of the better ones:lol so I said ok as long as we pick out a cool first name you can use danger as a middle name for a boy. Then our baby will be able to say "no, no, danger's my middle name.":lol

i use any ring for the "ring test"... my friend just used a pendulum on my tummy...didn't really work! so we did it on my hand. when i've done this before to women (none of whom were pregnant) it was completely accurate (showed boy boy girl, if that was what children they had, for example). so, i completely expected it to show boy (for ds) and then another one. however, it showed girl five times. i'm hoping that the energy from this baby was so strong, it showed that five times over... (i really want a girl this time) :wink

the pendulum was accurate with my son.
