Okay, I have these little bumps that aren't clustered together, on my arms and in between my fingers. Had a few on my thighs too. They look like little bug bites and are ITCHY, but I don't think they are bug bites.

I'm 5 months pregnant.

What is this and how can I treat this holistically?

1. I will take a blood test to make sure this isn't a liver issue, but I really don't think it is that.
2. Since it's just on my hands and arms mainly, I don't think that this is caused by a soap or detergent or any kind of alergic reaction.
3. Could be diet related, but I don't even know where to begin. I've been eating a WIDE variety of foods...no more dairy than ususal or anything like that, so I'm not so much suspecting that issue.
4.sometimes the bumbs disappear and reappear. Sometimes I itch a place and two seconds later I see a bump/bite looking thing appear.
5. Did have some diareah with this...

ANY thoughts, ladies? I'm totally at a loss on this one and REFUSE to take a steroid for this during pregnancy. Also am not willing to try an antibiotic, though I am trying to drink more orange juice for the vitamin C and will up my garlic to try and help heal.

Thanks!

Could it just be a heat rash? If you itch and then the bumps appear, that's what I would suspect. My DD gets this occasionally. I would try to not use soap on the area and don't over wash it so it is not dried out. Little bumps always make me think of some kind of irritation to the skin -- like the heat, detergent, a lotion, etc. You might want to post this too in the health forum. You'll probably get more responses there. Good luck!

do you garden? There are certain plants (or teeny bugs who live on them) that always get my fingers and forearms all itchy.

Sometimes Tea Tree Oil helps me with itchy spots and the smell is very soothing as well . .. good luck. I know that when pregnant, the "little things" can really drive you crazy!

using tea tree oil now...seems to soothe the itch soemwhat...but on occasion it can drive me CRAZY. Might try some mint essential oil too...?

Thanks...and keep the ideas coming or if you know someone who might know, please pass it along.

Sorry to say, but it REALLY sounds like scabies to me (body lice).

doesn't this come from a deficiency of something.

I don't really think scabies, espically since they appear and disappear and are only in confined areas...but I don't really know anything about it.

More info?

i don't have a "natural" cure for you but this sounds like what i had with my 1st pregancy- "rash of pregancy" that normally just appears in your stretch marks but mine wasn't confined just to those areas-- i had more "allover" like you're describing and was giving claritin-- they even sent me to a dermatologist to have it biopsied(i think) where they sliced a tiny bit off to ck it out and couldn't find any other thing wrong-- btw, the claritin didn't help that much either! Best of luck!!

I had scabies once, and what she describes sounds exactly like it. Especially the itchiness between the fingers.

It sounds similar to something I experienced around the same time during my pregnancy. I was right around 5 months when they showed up... these little spots that itched like CRAZY. One thing about mine that you didn't mention about yours... if (honestly, WHEN) I squeezed mine, clear fluid came out and more bumps would show up in that same area if I didn't wash with soap and water right away... that made me think it was poison ivy... but don't think it was anymore.

Basically I had to just stop messing with the spots/bumps and they went away within a couple of weeks. HTH!!! I feel for ya because itching is, for some reason, one of those things that make me feel as if I'm going a bit batty!!!!

Sounds like PUPPP - Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy - I have it. My blood tests and bile salts test all came back a-ok. I was told some pregnant woman just get a rash. So I tried a lot of different products and these were the most successful for me:

Kukui Nut Oil - I had to order online, came from Hawaii. Friend with eczema recommended it.

Sarna - anti itch lotion bought at CVS or Walgreens. Steriod Free one.

drank Dandelion Root tea and increased my water intake.

Good luck.

was diagnosed as scabies.

Im totally in shock. But, we'll see if it responds to the topical scabies treatment

I used my "healing all -purpose lotion" last night and it seemed to help a lot

Sweet Almond Oil
Camomile essential oil
Lavendar essential oil

I made it strong enough so that it stings a bit when you put it on. This has worked on everything frmo diaper rash to this...so far.

We'll see how it goes. Thanks for all your thoughts and support.

Now, does anyone know anything about scabies? My hubby and dd haven't caught it. Why not? How long can it live on inadimate things?
