Reading any good pregnancy/birth books?

I'm reading Magical Beginnings/Enchanted Lives by Deepak Chopra. It's wonderful. This is my third pregnancy, and I'm still learning new things. I guess I realized before that baby could feel my emotions, but I didn't realize how much stress affects the baby. Their heartrate is raised and they kick more. His book is about becoming grounded and taking care of yourself and connecting with your baby. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy reading it and is reminding me to chill out.

This is my 2nd pregnancy. I read my cbe's copy of The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth a couple of times last go 'round, but I bought my own this time and insisted that dh read it too. I have a copy of Birthing from Within on the way and have been looking at different types of birth hypnosis. The Bradley Method didn't do it for us (totally user-error ... we didn't practice outside of class AT ALL :o) so I want to try something different this time.

The Chopra book sounds interesting ... I like his work!

Now this is my 4th so I don't really read the basics anymore. I do have the Mothering, Having a Baby Naturally and love it. Far better than the mainstream JUNK you will read in the "What to expect" series.

Some of my favorites....
Naturallly Healthy Pregnancy - Shonda Parker (and Mommy Diagnostics is a MUST have after birth)
Birthing from Within
Spiritual Midwifery
Pregnancy, Childbirth & the newborn by Simpkin
Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year
I love both Bradley Childbirth books...Husband Coached & Natural Childbirth the Bradley way.
Thinking Woman's Guide to a better birth

Silent Knife - changed my life after my c-section
VBAC - wonderful book

not from your DDC but wanted to add my current favorite to the list:
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin.

I also enjoyed Dr. Sears book on natural childbirth when I was pregnant with first DC 4 years ago.

congratulations to all of you on your pregnancy! :love

I really like "The complete book of pregnancy and childbirth" by Sheila Kitzinger. It's older but good if you like natural preg/childbirth stuff.

I did not love "birthing from within" but other's seem to.

The Chopra book sounds like it would be worth getting.

I LOVE Ina May's books--they really empower me to trust my body!!!! These are the only (pg) ones I will probably read this time around.

I am a HUGE Sheila Kitzinger fan. I have been reading her books on pregnancy and birth for the last 19+ years. She is awesome.

I love Spiritual Midwifery. I have Seasons of Change, by Suzanne Arms and love that one too. Dr Miriam Stoppard's Guide to Conception, Pregnancy and Birth is a GREAT book too.
