I currently use a group in Dunwoody, but live in Lawrenceville. The group in Dunwoody frowns on co-sleeping, keeps telling me to feed 3 solid meals per day to my 9-month old, and other things I just don't jive with.
Anyone know of any pediatricians in the Gwinnet area that are a little more AP accepting?

You might also want to Contact the Dekalb Pediatric Center - 404-508-1177 in Decatur. They have known from the beginning that we co-sleep and have never made any comments. I also know of non-vaxing Mamas who use them and have never had any problems about that. I really like Dr. Debbie there.

Hi Amanda. We are also in L'ville. We take our kids to both a ped and a family practice. Sometimes I feel the ped's office is just a little more used to working w/kids and is more familiar with them. We use Lori Roberts at Snellville Peds. She is actually a nurse practitioner (sp?) there, but we love her. She is so awesome with the kids and tells me how how proud and impressed she is that I'm so committed to b'feeding and she loves the cloth diapers! We aren't really that impressed with the docs there, unfortunately. But, that's OK, we just don't make appt's with them! :wink
The family practice doc we use is Dr. Rene Latoni (male). 770-682-2024. We love, love, love him! The first time I met him, he asked if we planned to homeschool and told him probably and he said "good, then there's absolutely no reason to vax". He has lots of kids and was very supportive of our homebirth. All of his kids are homeschooled. He always tried to use natural and/or homeopathics instead before prescription drugs. He is great! I feel really comfortable there. He saw dd when she was about 5 days old and was quite jaundiced, but he wasn't concerned (I know the ped would have had a fit) he just told me to breastfeed her as much as possible. I love that he is so cool. Even if you don't use him as a ped, try him for yourself!

I have also heard great things about Dr. Abrams!
Amanda, your name is so familiar to me! I'm wondering if I know you IRL?

I've heard awesome things about Carol Hermann in Decatur. We see Dr. Odusina in Suwanee just up from Lawrenceville--she was completely cool about homebirthed babies b/c she used to work with the Amish. Her breastfed baby boy used to be at work with her all day every day when he was smaller. Very nice woman. We *used* to see Dr. Abrams until he asked me why I was nursing my 12 month old---was I doing it just for me???? :( I about fell over after all the great things I'd heard. His bedside manner just didn't do it for us, or any of my friends. To each her own! I agree with the thumbs down on Snellville Peds. You can't imagine all the bf horror stories I've heard out of that practice
:crying
Best wishes! and don't take parenting advice from a doctor:)
