May I just brag a little?

I've posted my views on the label 'gifted', and I'm not meaning to presume my 2.5 yo fits any category like that necessarily. But, maybe this would be a good forum to share happy and fun accomplishments of our kids which amaze us and make us think they are extra special :innocent ?

I cleaned dd's outer ears with a Q tip the other morning, which was a new thing for her. Later that day, she went into the bathroom by herself and was quiet for a while (never a good sign, eh?) I was sitting on the bed reading a book and all of a sudden her little face pops up over the back of my book with a devilish look in her eye. I put the book down, and she had put Q tips into both ear canals so that they were sticking straight out each side. She looked at me with a suppressed smile, then broke out laughing at her own cleverness :lol ! I just thought it was brilliant humor for a 2 yo to come up with.

Then last night dd was in her room watching a DVD. Dh called us down to dinner so I went up to get her. I walked in just as she was walking away from the TV after freezing the picture (I barely know which of the dozen buttons to push for this - how in the heck did she know ?!) She looked at me and said "I paused it, Mom." I said "Honey, how did you know which button to push?" She nonchalantly said over her shoulder as she was heading down the stairs "I was hungry, Mom!", sort of in a 'what a silly question' kind of way :rotflmao .

She just amazes me :).

She sounds adorible! And amazing! That reminds me of when my ds was almost 3. We had just bought a new computer and it was our first one with windows XP. I was playing around with how you can change the colour settings. It is several steps to get to where you can do that. Anyway when dh got home from work later that day, ds asked if he could change the colours. Dh said he didn't know how to do that so ds took the mouse and showed him (he had seen me do it once)
"you click here, then here, then here, then you do this..." Then he turned to dh and said "now do you think you can do that by yourself next time daddy?"

That's the thing that was so freaky about the Q tip joke: she knew she was supposed to keep a straight face at first.

She just pushed her little face into mine and stood there trying to look serious, like "What? What are you lookin' at?" Until finally she couldn't contain it anymore and busted out laughing :).
