I am in the general area of Gore mt.
I was at the Saratoga protest about 2 weeks ago!!!
We have one up here every Friday afternoon 3:30-4pm.
My "babies" are grown and I have 2 draftable-aged boys. One is almost 18 and one is almost 23...and I have a daughter who is 20.
This war is a night mare for me as a mom. I raised my kids in an AP way, though we didn't call it that back then. We did family bed, extended bfing, and cloth diapers too!
Take care and feel free to PM me anytime. I am keeping a rather low profile because of my activism so am not posting as much as I did.
I am a treehugging dirt worshipper.
See you around!...Joyce in the mts.

Hi. I'm in Saratoga Springs, too. Moved here out of the blue 3 years ago. I just happened upon this board, and I'm relieved after all dh and I have been going through with ds (11 months). Any chance, Tracie, you want to chat about peds?

i talk funny(southern accent and language), ebf, cloth diaper, sling wear, co sleep, eat beans and greens and cornbread (my dh tells me New Yorker don't eat beans!:rotflmao (he's from "the city")
we like to walk aroung saratoga when the weather is nice(and i have to admit being weak when i get that close to a starbucks!.....mochachinno
good to see someone in the area! :rotflmao

I was so lonely, now there is a glimmer of hope!!!!!!!!!!
I live in Albany temp., with my mom. I have a 14 month old and want to get together with anyone in the area who won't tell me I am weak for not letting my son cry it out. I feel like the only ap in all of nys. Mocachino's are my favorite. I used to work at the saratoga shoe depot. for years. I don't know how to get my pm's but I will try. Hope to hear from you soon.

Does anyone belong to an organic food coop in Saratoga? I'm trying to find one and it seems that there are a few to choose from.
Thanks.

How 'bout 4 Seasons in Saratoga? They have organic produce and a wonderful selection of just about everything under the sun, plus their buffet cafe, is superb!
I live way up in the boonies north of Saratoga and I go to 4 Seasons every chance I get.
Just my opinion, but maybe helpful...Joyce in the mts.

Hi I'm relatively new to these boards and I live in Burnt Hills. About 30 mins south of Saratoga! Boy I thought I was the only sling wearing momma around. I was at Crossgates yesterday and I got soooo many funny looks. It's good to know that there are more APers around. I get so many comments about our choice in parenting styles, so I'm always looking to meet like-minded moms, too! :)

I don't feel all alone anymore.
Eating out is a luxury for us (partly because I buy a lot of staples at Four Seasons for cooking at home).
Maybe the park since it's finally getting nice. Or, I can afford a cup of tea anywhere.

Aww, too bad we didn't see each other Princess Buttercup (one of my fav movies BTW :D )
I was getting so many looks that I thought I had something on my face, or butt, or something. LOL! Do you get that a lot? I just got my sling that same day so it was my first time wearing it. LOVE it though. :)

Sorry I've been gone so long --- seems we've been dealing with one ugly bug right after another. Oh the perils of toddler activities, meeting all the lovely germs going around. Right now Aidan's getting over bronchitis. It's been insane here.
anyone can feel free to email me - I'm far better about checking email than I am about checking boards. When Aidan's healthier and able to be social without infecting someone (hopefully next week), we'd love to do something. My email is 1tracie@nycap.rr.com
I have a wonderful pediatrician in Clifton Park -- he's worth the drive. His name is Dr. Chen, and his phone number is 371-7371. He's been great. The only weird thing is that he honestly believes it takes 1.5 to 2 hours for a breast to "refill" (sigh), but otherwise he's been really great about breastfeeding. he won't even give nursing moms formula samples in his goodie bag for new moms. He knows we're planning on child-led weaning and said that most children wean themselves between ages 4 and 4.5 He offered a natural solution to Aidan's reflux (rice cereal) as opposed to baby zantac. He has NEVER asked *where* Aidan sleeps, only how many hours/how well. He knows we no longer vax, and he didn't try to talk me out of it, although he did question me. He said he wanted to make sure I was making a rational, informed decision as opposed to just reading some of the more hysterical stuff off of the internet. He's not fond of antibiotics and doesn't give them out like candy. He's fantastic over the phone when you call at 2:00 upset with a sick baby. I really like him. He does have a thick asian accent, and my mom has trouble understanding him, but as long as I'm paying attention, I have no trouble.
I was a member of a food coop in Saratoga, through my church (Unitarian). But the food coop is a pain in the but and I wasn't saving enough money to justify it. You have to use this awful food ordering software. Then you have to show up when the truck does -- once every 4th thursday. You won't know what time until that morning. Invariably, it was a time when Aidan was napping. Unloading the truck is a major drag. I just go to the big health food store in Albany once or twice a month to stock up on staples, then I rely on Hannaford and 4 seasons for the rest. 4 Seasons also gives 20% off when you order a whole case of something, and I've done that before too.

Hi, I think I recognize some of you from the Mohawk Valley and Albany threads. I'm in Gloversville. I took my Bradley class in Saratoga. Is anyone interested in a RL get together? I'm starved for the companionship of other AP moms, or even any kind of moms! None of my friends has children. My daughter and I live in isolation -- the only people we ever see are family, or occasionally one of my childless friends. She never plays with other children. I never talk with other mothers. I don't think this is healthy for either of us!

I live in Glenville, which is a few miles from Burnt Hills. My kids go to Burnt Hills schools. I forgot your name, the one who lives in Burnt Hills? Nice to know another sling wearing mommy is so close!
To the people asking about the get-together, I was one of them. I am still interested. Let me know!

Hi there, butting in... :)
I'm from Lake Placid orignially, my "second home" is Saratoga, I'll be there in a few weeks! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO HOME!!! :D
I'm in Virginia now (ugh), as my dh is in the Navy and we're stationed here. I miss home!
Maybe somewhere in the frame of July 15th/16th - 20th some folks would like to get together? I know I'd love to meet some other moms there (as I plan on moving back!!!) and Jared would love some baby/toddler playmates, even if just for a few hours. :)

Okay, everyone interested in a RL get-together:
What days/times would be best for you?
What location(s) do you vote for?

Does RL stand for real life? DS and I would be interested in meeting other people. We're going to be out of town for the next two and a half weeks, though (we rent our house for track people so I can SAH during the year).
Keep us in mind.

Oh Geez, I posted on the old thread.
I would like to get together too. I am the OP of the AP mamas in Mohawk Valley.
I was thinking the park in Scotia. It seems like a good center, so noone has to drive much further than the other. KWIM?
Saturdays or Sundays are good for me, any weekend. I think that this weekend calls for rain though.
I will check back tomorrow to see if anyone replies.

I'm in...just waiting for the rest of you.
I have a party to attend on the 17th and Monet's is on the 23rd...so I can't on those two days. Other than that, I'm free.
Post here so that we can get it figured out. Hopefully it will end up being a nice day :)
