Just wanted to say welcome! I am just outside Redding, not quite as far north as you..........but I am always looking for close mommies and you are one of the closest:) I have a sister-in-law in Yreka (not very ap) and lots of family in Mt. Shasta, going to visit my grandma there this Saturday..........anyway:wave
Do you ever come down this way? Feel free to pm me if you want to talk. :)
I have two daughters too, 3.5 and 1.5 years.

Hi,

I live way up here, too, although a bit far from Yreka! I'm in Modoc County, which is in the far northeastern corner of the state, about 3 hours NE of Redding. It's far, but it's beautiful! I remember visiting Yreka and thinking it was very cool. How do you like it?

If you ever wander up here, let me know! I have one son, 7 years old. You can PM me if you like: lauriepb@community.hipmama.com

Hi there! I just moved to Hornbrook (somewhere between Yreka and Ashland) in February, and I've found myself feeling pretty isolated :) I have a 3.5yo daughter and I would love to meet a local like-minded mom. Email me at starryriverfall@yahoo.com

Take Care!

Hello! I am not up there but am thinking about moving up that way-actually closer to Redding, but everything is still very much undecided. How do you all like your towns?? Have you had much luck finding other like-minded families IRL around there??

It's just a bit south, but I'm north of Chico. There is a Chico thread around here somewhere.

I'm going to be in Redding most of Saturday. Does anyone feel like meeting up at the aquatic park? : D

:wave Hi Elizabeth! Meeting you sounds fun, but this Saturday I am going up to Mt. Shasta to see my Grandma. Let me know when you come up this way again. It would be nice to meet another MDC mom in real life! Have fun at the aquatic park!

Hi! I just wanted to say hello to all of you!

My BIL lives in Hornbrook. My dh and I will be moving back to CA in Sept. (Berkeley)
Maybe one day when we are visitng BIL we can meet up.

There is also an Ashland thread going in the Oregon tribe area...I don't think that is too far from Yreka.

EvolvingMama~ Wow! Modoc County! I didn't know anyone lived in Modoc County :D :D It is really, really beautiful....Lava Beds is in Modoc, right?

So Yreka was the big city for us! We tried to get an organic farm going & we still have a school bus that we are going to rescue from up there (we're in Sonora now)

We'll be weekending it up there to get 2 new tires & bleed the brakes...so if anyone knows anything about fixing school buses PM me!!! Please!!!

My Dh told me tonight that he has the sloight possiblity of transferring to Redding for his job. We are considering it since it would be only about 5 hours from his family, who is really devastated that they can't have a relationship w/ the grands.

We have such a good thing going here, just the other day we were commenting on how we couldn't imagine moving. I am interested in what sort of "support systems" are around up there, for instance....

1) any crunchy doctors for the babies, us?
2) any affordable home delivery of organic produce. (this is my fave luxury at the moment.)
3) Any good home birth midwives?
4) what is are the options re: alternative schooling?

Those are the biggies off the top of my head. I see there is a bit of an AP playgroup. Do you mind telling me more?

THANKS!!!
