My wonderful DD came home from camp and brought many "things" :fever: :sneeze: along with her. My 2 littlest ones got all she brought. Bronchitis, sore trough, fever, runny/stuffy noses... Now, pink eye. :irked:
We had to get antibiotics for the Bronchitis (hated that) and are taking breathing treatments. I really would like not to have to give the eye drops prescribed. Would anyone have a tried and true remeidy to get rid of pink eye, or any others listed above? Would love to find a Homeopath around with and MD that would take insurance. If you have one you'd like to recommend that would be helpful too. I 'm in MI (not far from Ann Arbor) on the boarder of OH (by Toledo).

Breast milk works, if you have any and if she'd go for it.

Growing up we never did anything but apply a hot compress to the affected eye and of course try not to touch it. My mom was also a nurse and she didn't take us to the doctor for pink eye. You can search natural remedies for pink eye and get a bunch of ideas. I just found one that reccomends placing a cool moist chamomile tea bag over the eye for 10 minutes several times a day.

When DD had pink eye earlier this year I used Similasan Homepathic eye drops and her pink eye cleared up within almost a week. You should be able to get it at your health food store.

Hope you DD feels better soon!

After breastmilk (can you get someone to give you some?), I'd also recommend the similisan pink eye relief. It worked for dh very well. Most pink eye is viral anyway, especially if there's already a cold going on.

raw milk (cow, goat, horse, sheep) can work in lieu of breast milk. pasturized milk won't help, but raw milk works well.

good luck to you!

Us too this works well, just remember if it doesn't get better then think about using the drops that the dr gave you:duck: I know that anitbiotics should be a last resort...but I have heard of serious eye problems from untreated conjunctivitis(sp?) Now of course you will use your motherly wisdom but i'm just saying...anyhow...hot compresses, and Breastmilk will work too. Poor babies hope that they are feeling better soon.:fever:

Just because a doc prescribed antibiotics doesn't mean it's bacterial ... the doc on call for mine said any time there is weeping they prescribe antibiotics. From comparing symptoms from what I found on the internet, ours was viral ... I did nothing and it went away.
