View Full Version : Painful Scar Tissue

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with!

I had a c-section with ds 6 years ago, and for the last 3 years or so I've noticed a hard, painful "knot" under the skin at the site of my incision. I've asked my gyn. about it, but she said, "hmmm....I haven't seen anything like that before. But I don't think it's anything to worry about." Not very reassuring!

I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed anything similar. I should say that I really think it's just an adhesion or something like that, but it's really uncomfortable, and not just when I touch it, you know? I also wonder if it could affect VBAC if we ever conceive again.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! :)

"just an adhesion"??!!?? OMG! I have been literally crippled by the pain adhesions caused after abdominal surgery (not the c/s, thankfully). Check out adhesions.org

Thanks for the replies. I will check out adhesions.org (and ask my general practitioner Dr. about it next time I see him).

When I said "just an adhesion" I didn't mean to imply that adhesions aren't serious (and painful). I just meant that I don't think it's a cyst or cancer or anything life threatening (like some of my friends had suggested)! :)

Thanks again!

Here's another link you might find helpful... www.womenssurgerygroup.com
That's my surgeon's website, the one who removed my endo and adhesions, making me painfree and fertile! You really want somebody who knows their stuff to do your lap, if that's the route you choose to take, because any abdominal surgery has the potential to cause even more adhesions.
