TIA girls i need some new pants for the gym tommorow lol Clarinet 09-05-2006, 10:12 PM I'm not quite sure what you mean, but when you pin the paper pattern on the fabric, you don't stretch it. I just sewed a shirt with stretchy knit and the instructions said when sewing straight instead of serging to stretch while sewing. oldgirl, newtricks 09-06-2006, 01:51 AM You also need a stretch stitch on your machine. Have you checked? A plain staight stitch will pop and not allow the fabric to stretch. That could be why the pattern says to stretch it. It's assuming you aren't using a stretch stitch. I've had machine with them and many without, but they really do work for stretch fabrics. Gloria kayabrink 09-20-2006, 10:50 PM If you have a stretch stitch, do you still need to stretch the material while sewing? :o Clarinet 09-21-2006, 07:59 AM I don't think so, Kayabrink. Erinok 09-21-2006, 09:32 AM no, you wouldn't stretch the material while cutting or sewing. just hold it taught like you would any other fabric. If you stretch while cutting/marking or sewing you will wind up with a garment that is too small and misshapen.
