First of all this has been going on for like 3 weeks now

DS has been on Nystatin & Diflucan- finally the diflucan took his away-
No I can't get rid of it from my breast.
I have tried the Nystatin Cream, Diflucan, boiling bras...etc....... All to no avail.
I just ordered some genitian violet. It will be in tomorrow. It hurts so bad! I almost want to give up nursing! It is really only on 1 side. and that nipple is beet red and chaffed looking(well both nipples are like that really) but only one has like little pimple things- which seem to be where the pain is originating from- and to make matters worse- he JUST got a tooth when all this happened and he keeps nibbling on it once in a awhile!
Now he has an ear infection and is on amoxil and the doctor said it would make the thrush worse.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR Will it EVER go away!?

Does he have to be on the antibiotic? I would avoid them now and perhaps give him Motrin for the pain, and garlic and mullein oil in the ear.

Healing Childhood Ear Infections is a good alt earache treatment book.

The gentian violet has worked for us every time. I hope it works for you, too! Be prepared for the purple nipples and mouths! :)

For thrush, I have used a homemade thrush oil. It is 2 TBS olive oil mixed with 8 drops each lavender and tea tree essential oils. Apply to nipples and babe's mouth several times each day. If your gentian violet takes a while to get to you, you could use this in the meantime. I'm sure the gentian violet will clear it up though. Good luck!

So the twins' doctor prescribed Difucan for the persistent thrush problem we've been having...ummmm, opinions on the safety of this for fourth-month old little babies...?

(Doc did not think much of GV for some reason).

not too keen on diflucan - do a google search - i think it can damage livers -
we used colloidal silver and jarro-dophilus (brand name) combined - out with the bad, in with the good - worked like a charm! I took the silver, we both took the jarrro-dophilus.

I think you're on the right track with the GV... I hope that works for you! Thrush sucks!!!

You mentioned boiling bras and I just wanted to point out that you need to boil/disinfect ANYthing that comes in contact with your breasts or your son's mouth. Burp cloths, teethers, toys, bibs...

Thrush is yeast so it likes warm damp places and sugar. So keeping your breasts dry, avoiding sugar and increasing your intake of yogurt (acidolphus) can help too.

Also make sure that you continue to take your treatments even after you start to feel better since it may take awhile to kick it if you've got a resilient case.

Good luck!!!!!
