We may be moving to a house which would better suit our needs....and I would love to start up a *small* daycare business in our home to a. bring in some extra income and b. to have something that's just for *me*. I had thought of becoming a doula or childbirth educator but it doesnt seem conducive to our situation right now.
Anyway....I homeschool my dd11 and ds 6 and then I have a ds2 and a dd 7. Is it do able to still homeschool and run a small daycare? Anyone else do it? Thanks mamas :)

It can be done, just takes a little extra planning and organization. I only have 1 little one right now, she is 13 months, and I have her a couple of days a week. I also have 1-2 other part-timers, so that leaves us plenty of time to do homeschooling things.

I homeschool my son, have a ds 4 and dd1 and take care of a little boy 3.5, 11-12 hours a day, and I homeschool my neice 13 yrs old. It can be done, just don't take on more kids than you can handle.

I homeschool and do schoolage home daycare. My work hours tend to be 6-8am and then we have a break until 3pm when school gets out. I offer evening and weekend care as well to help increase my income.

I have cared for preschoolers also(I prefer not to do under age 3) before and I've always been very upfront and open about our homeschooling lifestyle and its worked out fine.

There is a Yahoogroup for homeschoolers who also do daycare if you're interested.

I babysit 1 little boy who is the same age as DS, I do homeschool with both boys. I babysit second shift, so I do all the big kid learning in the a.m. with my oldest DD, and then all the kids come in the afternoon for crafts and reading and experiments, etc. It works just fine for us, if I babysat a younger kid, it would be harder. But they are all within a few years of eachother and it's easy to make things easier/difficult depending on child/age/development.

I homeschool and watch one extra baby two days a week. I'm planning on taking on one or two more kids in the future.
