Just curious if there's anyone else besides me. I always hear pharmacist is a great profession for mothers. I don't understand that statement at all when I think about it. I can hardly think of any other profession or job where it is customary to receive no breaks or lunches and be expected to work 10, 12, 14, or 16 hour shifts. Makes going home to nurse out of the question and no real time to set aside for pumping regularly.
Currently I'm really concerned about breastfeeding and keeping up with it when I go back to work. I'm worried about how I will keep up with pumping when I go back to work and the long hours. I think my co workers (techs and the other pharmacist) will be supportive, but I know its going to be rough finding the time to pump uninterrupted in the pharmacy with the phone calls and the patients needing counseling etc....
I'd love to hear the challenges others faced and how things turned out.
I won't be too suprised if I don't hear from too many pharmacists.. it isn't exactly the crunchiest profession. Most I know used formula or supplemented :(
