A friend of mine has asked me to make a couple of diapers for her five year old daughter who still wears disposable diapers to bed at night. So they would be nighttime diapers, and supposedly she doesn't usually wake up and she soaks through at least one disposable a night. SO I need something that won't be too bulky for her, yet very absorbant. I don't have any PUL but I found some laminated fleece that is wind and waterproof and I was going to make an aio out of that. So any suggestions on how to make this as absorbant as possible, as I am guessing a five year old can pee an awful lot, yet not too bulky? What fabrics would you use?

She also wants one to be a pull-up, does anyone have a pull-up pattern link?

I would start with an underwear pattern a couple of sizes too big! Maybe that
would work and you can put elastic in the legs and the waist like underpants.

I wonder if PUL would be better than fleece, I would test a wet cloth on one side and if is leaks through.

Also AIO's take forever to dry, I would maybe think about a pocket so you could double the thickness in the middle. Also not to discourage the mom but does she know that she'll need to wash every couple of days, only 2 diapers, will it be worth it?

Good luck Jenn

Hemp is very absorbent and very thin. Hemp fleece can roughen up with use, so it's good to put the smooth side of hemp next to the skin. Mabye hemp for absorbing and something soft for the layer directly next to her skin. Even just regular flannel stays soft.
