I know alot of you are not having them done for various reasons.
But i wanted to see what the earliest some of you may have found out what sex your baby is.
I thought the average age was 16-18 weeks but have heard some find out as early at 13-15 weeks.
Is this true?
I am having an ultrasound on weds and wanted to know what my chances of finding out are. I will be 14 weeks 5 days.
Thanks!

I've heard as early as 12 weeks, but I wouldn't necessarily trust what you see at that point, as a penis and a clitoris can look an awful lot alike then! 16-20 weeks is more accurate. You *might* be able to see it at 14 weeks, but the tech is not likely to say for sure at that point... they may not even hazard a guess because of how early it is. Occasionally it's really obvious at that point, but I wouldn't count on finding out then.

I think that might be too early......we had ours at 19.5 weeks and we were able to find out. Good luck tho!

i tried to find out when I was 17 1/2 weeks and it was too soon. They could only see some parts of the body. (Spine, heart etc). No genitalia though.

I had nuchal scan at 12.5 w and they told us it is a boy. Hovever it is very unusual - the baby was very cooperative and turn at the right angle.

From what I understand, if you have a low risk pregnancy you usually get 2 sonograms during your pregnancy and that's it. One is the dating scan in the early stages of your first trimester somewhere around 8-12 weeks to determine your due date. The second is the anomaly scan done during the second trimester around 17-22 weeks to check the baby for birth defects since at this time most organs have grown and the baby is still small enough for the doctor to see the entire length of the baby.
Any sonograms done after that are only done when a problem arises or if the baby is overdue (this is according to what my doctor has told me.)
Hope this helps!

My friend had a nuchal fold u/s at around 12 weeks (although they said she's measuring about a week ahead) and she said it was obviously a boy. Not sure I totally believe it - I'm skeptical. lol
