Women Ages 37+ -- How long did it take you to conceive?
I am just wondering if all you pregnant women over age 36 can list how many months trying to conceive before getting a positive.

First baby conceived at 35 took me over 6 months.
Second baby (due next month) conceived at 38.... didn't even try....maybe 2 months?
make you feel better? I hope so!

Our first, conceived at age 33, took about 8-9 mos. (I'm not positive) of trying. We were pretty focused on trying (charting, dtd religiously every month around ovulation). This one, conceived at age 39, took about 7-8 mos. of very relaxed trying (no charting, only occasionally checking my mucus, not even dtd every month around ovulation).
Hope this helps,
Christie

:lol :lol Our first, conceived at 35 was a '15 years in the making'....:lol
Once 'Aunt Flo' came back after extended BFing...3 months for second baby at 37....ditto for last baby, once I had cycles again, about 3 months and not watching my 'fertility dates'....conceived at 39 (almost 40).
I posted a ttc story in 'chelating mammas' in the dental thread. Had one amalgam filling removed that I'd had since 13 years old. Did a detox/chelating cleanse, and WHAM, I'm pregnant after basically 15 years of no birth control and 'lots' of trying...:)
Never did fertility stuff, just figured we'd be one of those couples with lots of grown up expensive toys, that would travel alot...
Things definitely working well now :lol Guess since this is our last one, since I really don't want to do this again at 42/43....we'll be getting Dh fixed...:)

Conceived this one at 37 the third month of trying.
We were also charting temps etc and the first two months we were 'trying' for a boy so we weren't having sex until I ovulated, the first month we just had sex daily we got pregnant :D

I'm 41 and conceived the first time after 3 months when I was 40. We weren't actively trying, but had given up birth control and were open to the idea. That one unfortunately ended in m/c at 10 wks, but we conceived again after 3 months of trying, this time temping. We're keeping our fingers crossed that this one sticks around. I'll be 42 when s/he arrives.

1st child at age 37, after being off the pill for 1.5 months.
2nd child at age 39, after skipping the pill for two days (SAS pilots went on strike, pills ended up in Ireland and I ended up in Coppenhagen. Grateful to those pilots now :wink )

First pregnancy ever at age 37 after 18 mos of not using BC. We weren't actively trying, but we were definitely GIO a lot more than the second time, at age 39, about 3 mos. (?)

I will be 37 in Dec. and am pregnant after one try this mos. Even though I do not take my temps, I am getting very good at knowing my cycles and feel it makes all the difference. It took me 4 mos. with my son when I was 28. Of course we had no idea the optimum time to try back then. Good luck. Shawna

I was 37 when we conceived DD and it happened the first month we started trying. We were surprised – I expected it to take a bit longer than that!

I probably conceived this pregnancy on my 36th birthday, so technically over I was over 36 :D
It was our first cycle trying to conceive following a m/c.
Previous conception (35 3/4) we used no b/c for 3 months but didn't focus on fertile dates. We actually figured out my fertile days the 4th month and got preggo.
First pregnancy (33) conceived on second cycle of trying.

1st: 35, took 2 months
2nd: 37, took about 4 (think i was pregnant in 2 but miscarried early, 2nd try worked:duck: )
I read taking charge of your fertility before we even tried and i think that helped speed things up tremendously. I knew/understood when i was most fertile & we went with it:lol

I got pregnant with my dd at 33 after 11 months of trying.
With this baby, I got pregnant at 38 (I'm now 39) after 2 1/2 years of ttc. I had a miscarriage in February of 2004. I also had 11 months without any periods when I would assume I was not ovulating in that time due to a medication I needed to take. :( So we were really only ttc for about 1 1/2 because my periods disappeared on me for a while.
We didn't find out until January or February of this year that dh has really low sperm motility, around 30% if I recall correctly. It would have been helpful to know that earlier. We both did acupuncture and took herbs prescribed by the acupuncturist. About 2-3 months after dh started the acupuncture and herbs I was pregnant. :) I also took Clomid for 2 months to help me ovulate regularly because my periods were still wonky (from 30 days to 56 days! :dizzy: ) from the meds that stopped my periods.
If you have been ttc for more than 6 months and you are over 35, I would highly recommend that you see your doctor. A basic workup with hormone levels on you and a sperm analysis for your dh could give you some helpful information that might save you some time.
Also, I can't recommend acupuncture highly enough. I think it made a big big difference for us. :thumb
