This past week I had 2 scary pregnancy related dreams, always in the dreams I woke up in a pool of blood. I cried and cried in my dream, telling dh that I m/c. I awoke this morning thanking God that it was only a dream.
Do you have such dreams? or other scary dreams?

I had a scary dream Saturday night. It was weird, I was on a trip or something, then I went to the bathroom and saw blood. Needless to say, in my dream, I immediately arranged for a flight back home from wherever I was so that I could get to the dr. I've never had bleeding with any of my pgs so that just wasn't normal. I was so, so, so, so, so glad when I woke up that it was just a dream.

Last night I dreamed I had 5 babies, does that count as scary?
I hope you have better dreams tonight!!

Last night I dreamt that I looked down at my ankle and realized I'd been neglectful in my shaving. I had more hair on my foot than a hobbit!
Now, I just want to point out that I don't normally shave my feet. Nor do I need to. :lol
But when I was pregnant with DD I had a hard time shaving toward the end, so I'm counting this as a scary pregnancy dream. Yikes!

I haven't had a scary dream, but I definately had a strange dream last night! I dreamed that Tim McGraw was pursuing me, right in front of my husband! :dizzy: It was wonderful, I was so sorry when I woke up .......:irked:

All my scary dreams right now are related to DD. DH is supposed to be taking care of her while I'm sick or something and when I come to get her he doesn't know where she is... Stuff like that. Right now I'm seeing the pregnancy and new baby very much through the lens of DD's life, so all my worries are focused on her.
I do remember having a very strange dream while pregnant with DD, though. I dreamt that I gave birth to not one, but two fully cooked and trussed cornish game hens. And when I picked the first up, one of its legs came off and I was horrified! I spent ages trying to sew it up with twine. All this was after being driven to the hospital by my dad who stopped numerous times to run household errands. (Granted, that part isn't as unrealistic as it may sound!) :lol

Sara - I love the game hen dream! I have crazy dreams all the time anyway, and they just get more interesting being pg. The 1st time around, I was always dreaming about going off to work for the day and leaving the baby home alone... or for days. Those are the WORST dreams. I also had one last time that I gave birth to a mantel clock instead of a baby and was so upset and disappointed :lol
I wonder if the birthing-something-other-than-a-human dreams are common and if so, what they mean.
No baby dreams this time around... YET.

Despite myself, I have to laugh when reading your posts :lol . I am sure when we dreamed those things, we were scared/frightened, etc, but when we put it in words we could see it in a different light and makes us smile.
When I was pregnant with dd, I used to dream about giving birth to old baby, more like a 12mo baby with teeth, or something-other-than-human, as look11 put it, or dreamed my worst nightmare: stillborn baby. I remember waking up several times crying. I haven't had that dream yet, maybe it'll kick in near due date.
I wish I don't dream scarry dreams, but maybe our dreams reflect our deepest fear?

If dreams reflect our deepest fears, then I am most afraid of public toilets. :)
They haven't started up yet, but all through my pg with DS, I would have these very stressful dreams where I need to pee, but I go into a bathroom and it is filthy, with toilets overflowing and nasty wads of wet tp stuck to the seats of all the toilets (and the walls and the floors...)
These toilets are also usually in weird configurations--not your standard one toilet in one normal stall, but rather sitting right by the door next to the sink with no walls, or several in one large stall or weird shaped stalls with teetering walls about to fall in on me. And these restrooms are always full of rude, dismissive, or scary looking women.
I would try to make the best of it and use the least nasty looking toilet, but I would fall in or feel that I'd gotten covered in the toilet water...
I've never even heard of anyone else having stress dreams like this! Admittedly, I would always wake up from these dreams needing to get up and pee. Just stress + full bladder?

I've had the same kind of toilet dreams, and yes, it's when I have to go..
but they are yucky and full, and sometimes, very public....
right now, I am having vivid dreams, like the one where DH and I were taking ballroom dancing lessons in the pool (!), and I erupted all over some woman who was coming on to him.....
honestly, they are entertaining in the light of day.....
we ought to start a thread that could be ongoing:
Weird pregnancy dreams:lol

I haven't had any scary dreams yet but I keep having the same dream about a waterbirth in my bedroom. It's weird because there is no way I could set up the birthing tub in my room, there isn't enough room and we have light carpets that could get ruined. Yet every time I have this dream the tub is right at the end of my bed. Maybe it's trying to tell me something?

Yes, so far I've had only one scary pregnancy-related dream (won't mention the content - it was horrible & I woke in a cold sweat - ugh!), but many "bad" vivid dreams since being pregnant. I dream this way around my period too... it's just hormones. Nothing else to it.

Willo, I too share your toilet dreams and my mother has described the same thing. In the last one I was a very pregnant spy and in the (also filthy) stalls next to mine there were phone booths. Yucky.
My weirdest dream yet of this pregnancy was a breastfeeding dream. As this will be my first I've never done it. In the dream I was tandem feeding the baby and one of my six dogs who is a rather cranky 13 year-old male border collie. And yeah, he's the one most likely to be jealous.
Last night I dreampt I gave birth to a 20 week old baby and I thought it was dead so laid it on the bed and went to get my husband. The baby was still alive and its heart was beating but it was all purple and cold so I wrapped it in blankets and nursed it for hours. Then it started talking to me. It was so weird but also scary.

OMG, another gross toilet dreamer here!!! With the weird configurations and everything. They are always overflowing and the naaaaastiest thing you EVER saw.
I've never even told anybody else I have those dreams - it's too weird! I can't believe they are this common!!!!

Oh so some background so the dream makes sense. I live in South Africa and crime is high here. Dh works away on an oil rig and is always moaning at me to wear the remote panic button linked to the alarm, but i never do.
So last night a dreamt i was coming out my bathroom into the bedroom and a man was there, he grabbed me and all i could think was oh no i don't have the panic button on me.
Then i woke up in a cold sweat, so today i had the stupid thing with me all the time.

This morning I woke up from a dream where DH and I were going "home" (not real home), but we missed our driveway, so we pulled into a rickety old building's parking lot to turn around. But we stopped and got out, and I just had to open the door. It was filled with people watching a circus--there were a bunch of people up on trapezes, and, instead of a net, there was a row of pregnant women lying on the floor beneath the acrobats. The ringmaster was saying something like, "And now, in an act of daring so risky it could be foolhardy, these people don't have Informed Consent waivers..."
I think I'm really overthinking my birth center vs. hospital situation right now. Sheesh.
We could analyze is some more and say the "crowd" is the mainstream acceptance of medicalized birth, the doctors are the acrobats everyone is watching, and the pregnant women are almost literally doormats!
And I had a really GOOD first birth!
Sheesh.

I haven't had any pregnancy-like dreams, but I've had some very vivid nightmares about terrorists and things on airplanes. I had them every night for about a week, and then got my BFP. I don't know what that's all about, but I'm attributing it to the hormones.

I had my first scary pregnancy dream last night.
I was going into labor, I checked my cervix and it was 4 cm so I told DP. I was having to breathe through contractions and I was really excited that I was going to get to meet the baby soon. Then DP told me I was only 8 weeks pregnant. I said "So that means I'm not in labor, I'm just miscarrying?" he said yes. I started to freak out. I kepy pushing on my cervix in hopes of getting it to swell shut again. I knew if it kept opening then the baby would come out. I was frantic. I called the ER and they said there was nothing they could do for me. So I just sat on the bathroom floor crying. Then I woke up.
This is the first scary pregnancy-related dream I've had since being pregnant but I've been having other nightmares every night.
