You probably want "The Netherlands". Holland is a region of The Netherlands. It's like calling the entire United States "The Midwest". Holland and The Netherlands are not mutually exclusive. Thanks!

I'm guessing that this needs to be posted to the suggestions board. I don't think any moderators read here.

I second your suggestion, though.

But you are all in Holland ;)

Me, however, I'm in the Netherlands, the nether regions of hte lowlands ;) (near Enschede/Hengelo)

Actually, it's like saying "America" when you mean only the US.

I'm not, I'm not! I'm in Utrecht province, so I'm outside the North and South Holland provinces. Unless we're going by medieval-era maps... :)

We LOVE Apenheul!! My DD is obsessed with the place--she asks for a story about the monkey park nearly every night. We would definitely meet you all there!

Oh it's nice to see some activity in this forum! I've been living in the Netherlands (in Noord Holland) for 5 years now. I just found this forum in Sept so it's all pretty new for me. Me and my partner are ttc #1 and so I'm always posting in the TTC forum.

I've been to the Ape zoo, it's great! Lots of fun especially with those little monkeys - I don't know their name - that climb all over you! Funny!

I'll also make the suggestion for a name change,.

Just saw this. We, too, would be up for a get-together, Apenheul or otherwise.

Welcome to MDC, hazieluna, from a fellow Amsterdammer!

I may be up for a meeting if it isn't too far by train from Rotterdam.

Yeah the planning is not so smart, huh? This morning we had frost outside. Apenheul would be fun, but it's better in spring I guess.

How old are everybody's kids? My oldest is 7, which is just about the max age for one of those great indoor playgrounds where they can climb and stuff... Something like that could be cool anytime, and I think they have them all over...

Mine is 18 months.

We have an indoor playground (TunFun) here in Amsterdam that allows kids up to 12 years old.

My DD is 21 months.

We actually tried to go to Apenheul last week on our way to Germany, and it's closed until April. But the Amsterdam idea sounds like a good one--can we get there by train or bus Sarah?

It's worth noting that Apenheul is open to members on Sundays throughout the year.

Yes. Both TunFun (the indoor playground) and Artis (the zoo) are easily accessible by tram from Amsterdam Centraal.

So, how about a show of hands for everyone who is game for getting together? Let's not just talk about it!

My hand is raised! My DD is 3.5 and DS is 1.5.

Starting Dec., I would PREFER any day but Wednesday, but I would consider it if it was the only day for others (we are going to an activities group for kids).

Does the TunFun have an area to eat? Will we meet morning/afternoon?

TunFun does have a little snackbar with a few sandwiches.

My only concern about meeting at TunFun is that we will all be busy running after our kids, so it might be hard to get any time to talk. The zoo could be a slightly better choice for that reason, since it's a bit easier to go from animal to animal at a controlled pace. There are a variety of cafés at the zoo.

Who else is up for meeting? You know, I'm going to start a new thread. Having this buried in this thread might be keeping people away.
