View Full Version : Obsessive checking for spotting... anyone else?

I swear... I go to the bathroom more than I actually need to JUST to check and make sure I'm not spotting. Maybe it's just me 'cause I spot during implantation and this was the first non-spotting day for me, but um... obsessive doesn't even seem to be a strong enough word :p

And... in the kitchen... I'll swipe a tiny bit of paper towel (we almost never use them...) and check quickly if I can't get away to the bathroom :bag:

Okay. It feels good to get that off my chest  I hope I'm not the only one :shy

love and peace. :love

Me too!! AF was due yesterday and I have been checking alot also. So far no spotting at all, which is good but I too had implantation spotting with my last two pregnancies.

I'm a very paranoid person. Any time I feel at all damp, I have to go check and I'm so worried of what I will find.

I keep telling myself that worrying doesn't help or change anything, but my mind has yet to abide by that!

I did that for a few days just after AF was due. I was still in that state of shock and still expecting AF to show up. I always had to share my findings with my husband . . . "No period yet" :lol

Yes! Me Too!! Phew, so glad I'm not the only one.

I check constantly and even mentaly prepare myself when I go to the bathroom to check, just in case there is blood. I'm pretty papranoid about miscarrying. I had 2 miscarriages before getting pregnant with my oldest so it's always in the back of my head as a possibility. If I didn't have so much on my plate already with work and 2 boys I'd make myself crazy :nut

For me this pregnancy wasnt planned at all so it almost feels like a dream. I keep expecting to go to the bathroom and find AF and the dream will be over.

I'm not in your DDC, but I did this ALL the time until like a week after AF was due. I was driving myself crazy. Now I figure, even if I do spot there isn't anything I could do about it, so I just put it in God's hands.

:lol I do the SAME thing!! I feel like I'm making myself crazy checking. Sometimes I am SO convinced that I've started bleeding that I'm actually surprised that everything is alright. I am looking forward to the 2nd trimester when we are in a safer zone. I know I'll still be nervous, but by then I'll have seen a doc and hopefully the baby as well. Hang in there!!!

Popping in from May to say that I did the very same thing. I obsessively checked from weeks 4-8 and still check every time I pee... and I have never had spotting in pregnancy or a m/c.

yes, and only got my BFP 5 hours ago. i'm a little bit freaking out, because i'm sort of light spotting (none on my underwear, but if i wipe, i get a slight pink tinge in my CM). i've never spotted with my DS or DD.

i think i need some sticky vibes! :sticky

i'm trying to reassure myself, because i got my BFP at 2 pm.. not first morning urine, and it came in under 2 mins. i'm only 12 dpo, but my usual luteal phase is 11.

someone please reassure me :gloomy:

I ALWAYS spot for at least 6 days around implantation time... you should check out the thread in I'm Pregnant forum called "when spotting is okay" or something like that. Just search for spotting and it'll come up :thumb I think it's on the second page of the forum right now...

Sending sticky baby vibes your way!

love and peace. :love

obsessively checking here too... even the thing about checking when I can't get to the bathroom! I think this is the worst part of the first trimester-- all the worrying :dizzy:

I have, and I am worried as well. My (very dark) BFP was this AM, and I too feel like I'm in a dream. I feel crampy, especially when something bumps into my belly (is it psychosomatic?) and I keep expecting to see blood. But, there's nothing...

yes and i will until about 8-10 weeks. i had very light bleeding w/ ds1 around 4 weeks and pretty intense bleeding for about 24 hours w/ ds2 around 5 weeks - actually thought i had miscarried but then a week later took another test and i was still pregnant.

so yeah, i'm paranoid and kinda expect bleeding to happen in the next few weeks.

I do it too! I am so scared of miscarrying that I keep on checking, like that would stop it from happening. I think after the first few days I'll get used to the new feeling and relax a bit more. I only missed AF three days ago, so I am still getting used to the idea of being pregnant again. DH told EVERYBODY though, which is cute because he is soooo happy, so I hope we are okay and don't have to tell anyone anything different.

nah I think we have all done that before. The want for a baby is so intense a woman wants to make sure. I know I've done it many a time.

The father away I get from when AF was due, the better I am feeling. I think it still will be in the back of my mind until I reach some major milestones (like, carrying this baby longer than my first pregnancy, and the 12 week mark of course) but I am trying so hard to just relax and trust in God. It isn't easy- this baby is only a few mm's big, but I'm so in love already. This is a very wanted and anticipated baby! Yup. Still checking for spotting.

Yep - I nervously check everytime I go to the bathroom too - our first pg ended in a m/c at 6 weeks and it was so hard to deal with - cuz we were so excited to be pg... We had our dd right away after that, and now this upcoming little one I am hoping for lots of sticky vibes :sticky. I don't think I will feel "safe" until the second trimester.
I also had about 3 days of brownish implantation spotting before I got my BFP -which is new for me....so still on TP watch....

Glad I'm not the only one! I just need to relax...but I can't help worrying. I wasn't like this with #1 (I was in the dream state :lol ) but this time seems different.

Here's some stickyness for us all: :sticky :sticky :fingersx: :fingersx:

Me too. But I check compulsively and do want this baby. Even though I'm not mentally there yet, I will be. Plus, having already lost two, I don't think I could bear the pain of losing another.

On the plus side of being a "compulsive spotting checker", I have been drinking tons of water so that I actually have to *use* the bathroom when I go in there!:lol At least I'm well hydrated! :lol
