I haven't been on these boards for a while. I have a DD 9 and DS 5. To my great surprise I found out I am pregnant today. Well, okay, we weren't using birthcontrol, but we have tried since DS was 2 and when nothing came of it, we figured our family is just perfect the way it is......
So I haven't told anyone, even my DH yet because he is out of town. We talked today, but it didn't feel right to have him so far away (and spotty cell service to boot.......can you hear me now???)
I have alot of mixed feelings, I'm not sad or unhappy, just really unsure of the changes. With 5 years since the last one, I feel like it is new again. Oh, it is going to be wonderful but I have really appreciated reading your stories and look forward to chatting with you all about the comming months.
Thanks for listening...
Heather

Thanks for the welcome! It is starting to sink in, but haven't been able to tell DH yet. I might wait until he comes home tomorrow.

Springbabes- I'm in the sugarhouse area. I have a DD born in 97, too. Also a DS (01).

Heather ~ Your in Sugarhouse? I hear there is a birth center there. Do you know anything about it?

Yes, I have heard of it. I have a few friends who gave birth there, I know their experiences were all good except one (she had to be transported to hosp due to complications....) I can ask around for specifics if you are interrested. I may consider it myself, but both of my previous pregnancies and births were somewhat complicated. I wonder if it would have been better or worse at a birth center....??
Are you in Salt Lake?

Heather,
No I'm not in SL. I am actually in Wyoming. I have had two previous home births with a midwife, but because of WY laws and other things, I am looking for a new midwife. There is one who will deliver for me, but it is still against the law, so I'm not sure I am comfortable with that. My only other option is to find a birth center in a legal state that is close to me and that would be UT or ID. I have talked to Better Birth LLC in Orem and I am going to meet with them when I can make it over there. I am just trying to find as many as I can so I have options, ya know?

Sorry for hijacking your thread! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I have six years between my first two and it was great! Your older ones will be so helpful! I think you'll like the age gap! Good luck telling your dh! You'll have to let us know how he responds!

Thanks for all the info! Take care!

AmBam, Suzanne from Better Birth was my midwife for both my homebirths--she's wonderful. I had no idea about Wyoming laws. I kind of thought of Wyoming as an outpost state that would welcome things like midwifery:o . So, would you have to travel to Utah in labor or would you come down a week before your duedate and wait it out?

Javamama, I LOVE Sugarhouse--consider me very jealous :p .

Springbabes~ I'm glad to hear from someone who has used Better Birth. Wyoming laws are so dumb right now. It used to be that a midwife could deliver a baby but not give any pre or post natal care! Dumb huh? So I had a midwife who lived in ID and I would go there for pre and post natal and she would come here and deliver for me. Then recently they passed a bill that said something like midwives have to have a WY certification or something. It wasn't something my midwife or another one I have spoken to were willing to do, so I am kind of stuck. The one said she would come deliver for me, htat she didn't have a problem with it, but it would be against the law and if for any reason I had to transfer or whatever I wouldn't want to deal with that headache! Ya know? So here I am. Orem is a long drive for me. About 4 hours, but I do have a lot of family in the area I could come stay with. I'm just not sure I have many other options. Do you know if there are any birth centers in the Ogden area?
