Lucky I introduced Browneyed to a great consignmeng shop, Better than Ever, 58th and Nicollet cuz she picked me up a steal this week, a brand new pair of flax pants and she told me they had a bunch of j.jill too. So I went in last night and got three pairs of pants and one top. Now I am set on maternity. I really don't wear maternity I just buy bigger clothes.

So while I was paying I noticed a rack of clearance, kids clothes 50 cents and coats $2.00. So anyway I highly recommend you pop in there and check out that rack 58th and Nicollet. They are open Wed - Sunday only. Good luck.

Two posts in one week!

Just wanted to come on quickly to say thanks to kaje for telling me about this sale. I know many of you have already purchased these clothes 'cause I saw them on lots of little ones at the last gathering we went to, but for those who haven't . . . I recommend trying to stop by a sale sometime. They're good quality and, at least during sale time, quite reasonably priced (and I do mean inexpensive -- like, mostly Target prices or better). And cute!

If nothing else, stop by to see the cool place where this woman both lives and operates her business. I was totally jealous.

K., who is ducking back out into real life now

I am in a bit of a pickle with DH and would appreciate feedback.

Before Charlie I held the title Director of Development for four different organizations over a 9 year period. I also sat on two different non-profit boards helping with fund-raising needs. I specialized in direct mail, special events, newsletters and grant writing. In addition I have helped quite a few friends plan weddings and parties with entertainment, food, invitations etc...

Anyway I have over the past few months been helping Daughters and Sons with their mailing list, advertisements, direct mail and retail. I have really enjoyed it and it is a win win situation. My friends have complimented the work I have done and the owner Laura is very pleased.

Last night my dh laid in on me telling me that he thinks it is an escape for me because I am avoiding my fears etc...around my upcoming VBAC and that I should be busy preparing for that with my free time rather than be preoccupied with Daughters and Sons.

That really hurt me and upset me because this has been a boost to my self esteem as a stay at home mom. I have felt sometimes that all I am is someone who wipes snotty noses and sings humpty dumpty. I am pretty bummed and hurt about this. I need to explain to him why I am upset. I think he does not understand why I like to do it.

I know how you feel KJ. I work in my dad's office (usually nights), and now that my sister is out of school she can watch Cora so I can work during the day. DH feels it's better for me - moneywise - to nanny b/c I can take Cora w/ me and I don't have to pay my sister. BUT, I like working at my dad's office MUCH better b/c I am doing work that makes me feel good.

Anyway, I think you do need to explain that to dh. But, I also think you should consider if he has a point. Even if he does, it doesn't mean that you have to stop what you are doing, maybe just do a little less or something. Or just more of a point to face your birth. It seems to me like you've been doing a pretty good job of that though - with those birth rituals and going to the collective meetings and stuff.

KJ -- Perhaps doing this work you enjoy *is* an "escape" -- and perhaps that's exactly what you need! As in: an important balance, a break, something to keep you feeling fulfilled and whole at a time when your mind, spirit, and body are dealing with huge changes/possibilities, etc.

Doing this work sounds as though it is *helping* you prepare for your labor and birth, not detracting from it. It may not be doing so in the direct, linear way your DH might be assuming it needs to be, but if it's making you stronger and happier and more balanced, it most certainly is. (And besides, you've been doing plenty other things as well to prepare for the VBAC itself!)

My guess is your DH is actually worried about something else altogether, and he's just picked this as something to hang that energy on. It may not even have to do with you. Or it may be his own worry about *his* not doing enough to face his *own* fears about the upcoming birth!

Regardless of all that, I hope you'll keep doing what makes you feel strong and good, and have faith that that's what in turn will make you prepared for birth.

Cheering you on,
darcy
