I thought it would be fun to have a thread of the fun and creative ways everyone is telling their friends and family.
Both of our families live far from us but my in-laws will be here for Thanksgiving. So I bought an ornament that is a penguin family and wrote on one of the small penguins, "Baby Due July 2007." We're not going to say a word to them and just let them open this early Christmas gift. I am sending my parents one as well with instructions to open it on Thanksgiving Day.
Here's a picture of the one I'm giving to my in-laws (the one for my parents say "grandma" & "grandpa" instead) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v368/Shelsi/Fertility11021.jpg
What do you guys think? I have to say I'm pretty darn proud of myself lol.

!!!!! That is too cute and a far more creative way then calling everybody I know gushing over the phone about being pregnant. :lol That's tradition for me. :o

Lol, that's exactly what we did with Jake. We were just SO excited that we couldn't contain ourselves. This time it's been a slower build up because on 9 dpo I thought I was prego and my test sort of showed positive but not really. Same with 10 dpo. So we were excited but not totally sure we should be. Plus for some reason I just feel more guarded this time but can't really explain why.

I am a bit "nervous" this time too.. but I think that is just because I really really wanted to get pregnant. I think I can remember feeling this way with ds3 as well. The first two I didn't feel nervous about them at all.

we told my inlaws on friday night - dh asked ds1 "what's in mama's belly?" and ds said "BABY!"
my family is going to be here over thanksgiving and we'll tell them the same way. :)

We're getting DS an "I'm going to be a big brother" t-shirt that he will wear on Thanksgiving (we'll be at my in-laws), and I'm going to email the picture to my family with the caption "DS has news!" so they will find out the same day. Sorry- that's as creative as I've gotten so far! I'm looking forward to hearing other more creative ideas... those penguins are adorable!

I bought an "I'm going to be a big brother" shirt for my youngest ds. We are going to wrap it up like a Christmas gift and have him open it with all of the other kids around. That's how we are telling the kids.
For telling everyone else we are having a family portrait done with dh and I and the kids. I am going to frame them for gifts for all of our family members. Then I will put a note in with alll of the pictures that says something like....
"New haircuts~ $50
New clothes~ $200
Portraits~ $300
Getting the kids to all smile at the same time~ $1,000,0000
Being able to tell you that there are
actually 7 people in this picture~ Priceless!
The newest member of our family is due to arrive in late July 2007!"
I'm so excited about my plan...I don't think Christmas will get here soon enough.

I plan on getting t-shirts made for the in-laws and my family that say grandpa, grandma, aunt, uncle etc. I'll wrap them up and give them to everyone on Christmas. Does anyone have any good ideas for a creative way to tell close friends? I have a couple close friends that I plan on telling on Christmas Eve, but I don't want to just blurt it out.

I told my dh in ds's nightitme prayer. God bless mommy, daddy, and Benji, and mommy's baby.
We told my mom and dad this week (had to...my sister knows...she knew I was late so she knew before any of the hpts knew...and they are staying with her for 2 weeks...so had to tell). We were talking about what we want for Christmas. I said that Benji needs a new stroller (mom knows I have 3) because I need room for 2. It didn't quite register so I told her our due date. Not too original, but it worked.
We were planning to tell everyone in our Christmas card. Each year we send out a picture card, and we were going to include a pic of Benji wearing his big brother shirt with it. That hasn't really happened, and everyone will know by then! Oh well!

That's the best!!!
I made ds a shirt that said "Sign me up for therapy..." on the front and
" I'm the middle child" on the back :lol
I was going to make dd a tshirt that said "Oh, she better be gettin' a third nipple!" :lol but I didn't want everyone to laugh at her and her not understand why. That'd be cruel. My family loved it. We're going to in-laws tonight... I can't wait until they read it!

hey, that's what we did with our first! (well, basically the same idea, it was only dh and me in the picture) They loved it. I am planning on something similar this time around too.

I bought a book that is called "I'm a big sister" and had my dd carry it into DH - it made him cry - then we used the book to tell my mom and my MIL too - we plan on announcing it to the rest of the family at thanksgiving - I think DH will do a toast on how thankful he is for family and just throw in there that he is thankful for our new baby coming in July or something like that...

So, I have an update...
We told my il's over Thanksgiving. Mostly because I am really sick, and we were staying with them for a few days. We figured they would suspect something. We used the Mastercard ad. We had a picture of my dd and did the "new shoes- $32 on debit card, Christmas dress-$20 on sale, photoshoot $120 on Mastercard, finding out dd is going to be a big sister- priceless"
I thought it was pretty cute. HOWEVER, I got an email back from my bil basically telling us how petty it is to list the prices of things, how over done the commercial is, and how he was "tasting his own bile" when he read our email!
Anyways, I still think it's a cute idea!

yup. And he replied to all, so everyone that we sent the message to (just dh's 5 sibs and his parents) received the reply.
Anyways, I thought it was cute too! And it's not like we were telling the prices of things to brag or something! (except maybe the Christmas dress, on sale for $20, I think it's a good deal!)

To the OP, that is ADORABLE!!! What a cute idea! I might snatch it from you if I get a chance to go to our pottery studio before Christmas. Party Of Six, I love your "mastercard" announcement, too. What a bunch of great ideas.
As for myself, DH and I haven't discussed it. He feels like we should just mention it in conversation because it's our fourth, but I think we should be just as excited as we were the first time around. I don't want to hear any "don't you know what causes that" because people don't think we're happy about this pregnancy, know what I mean?
We are hoping to wait until I start showing to break the news, because our relatives will ask me every single day from 38 weeks on if I have had "that baby" yet because they feel like the pregnancy is lasting forever. If I tell them as late as possible maybe they won't feel that way anymore. ;)

That's horrible. :p He really made himself look like a jerk in front of your DH's family.
Congratulations!
