I had my #14 molar pulled recently, and I still have the wisdom tooth in that row. I remember smilemama posting somewhere that you can have teeth "pulled" forward to fill in the missing gap. My dentist has only been in practice for 3 years. He never mentioned this to me as an option. So I'm wondering 1 how would the teeth been pulled forward?? With a retainer, or braces?? and 2 should I seek a different dentist to try this, or discuss the option with? What should I look for, and what is this procedure called.

With this being number 19 (the lower left first molar), this is an important chewing tooth for you. Do you still have #17, the wisdom tooth? Another choice then might be to have #19 out, and have braces to pull #18 into #19s space, and #17 into #18s space. Then you could be rid of it, and still have your own natural teeth!
It's in
this thread (http://mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3782&perpage=40&pagenumber=3) about 4 or 5 posts from the end of the last page, a long post by sm followed by me saying "Dang!"
that's the best I could find, and the only post that I remembered on the subject.
