Oh darn! I can't this coming Monday. We are going out of town this weekend and won't be back til sometime late Monday.

Do you do this frequently? I'd love to get in on another get together soon.

My dd is 10 months old and is really fascinated with other babies! We have a baby program at the Shepherdstown Library every monday at 11:15 til noon. If you'd like to come across the river for it sometime that would be great. Some of us get together afterwards and have lunch or go for a walk or to the local park.

I hope to meet some of you soon!

Susan, Yes, I have been to a few of the LLL meetings here in Shepherdstown. My baby is almost 11 months old. I dont know if we were at any of the same meetings!

I'm back from my trip and up for a get together anytime. Just let me know. I have not been to the Hagerstown park before. Is there more than one entrance? If we get together, someone please give me some good directions so I don't miss you guys!

Perhaps a bit late in replying... I just happened to be be perusing later pages and Hagerstown caught my eye!!
Have you women been meeting regularly or at all?? I am relatively close to City Park and would love to get together. In fact, my 3.5 year old, Clara, just started an Art for Toddlers painting class on fridays at the museum. I don't work on fridays...
hoping to connect,
tara :Peace

Hi! i'm sorry to crash your thread but I can't resist asking - is downtown Hagerstown a good place to live with kids? DH might be taking a job in Frederick and I don't think we can afford it so we are thinking Hagerstown and I have seen some great looking houses on the internet that we could afford. I have 2 kids I will be homeschooling so the community we live in is really important to me. Anyway, feel free to ignore me but I was just wondering...thanks!

Wow! I just noticed this thread too!

I live accross the street from City Park - my babe is too little to play (he is 8 days old so the most we have been out at all is one lap around the lake each day) but I am home all summer and would love to meet other Hagerstown moms.

So maybe we can meet up somewhat regularly!

PuppyFluffer: I went to Shepherdstown LLL over the winter (I missed some because of school - and will miss tomorrow's because my baby is too little).

oyemicanto: My mom lives a little further out (Sharpsburg) but homeschools all of her children that are still school age...I don't know if she reads this forum but she does MDC her name is Yakmom_8 you could probably PM her. I know one of the reasons we moved out this way was for homeschooling...but I do not know a lot of specifics because I was already in college by the time my family moved out here (from VA).
I grew up on in the country and DH grew up in NYC so Hagerstown has been the best of both for us - big enough to have most stores we would need etc, small enough that we feel safe and the City Park is amazing (but there are a lot of other parks too) sense we truly live downtown we also can walk to the library and restaurants etc...which is a plus - but nothing is too far of a drive...there is traffic in the downtown area at certain times of day - but not as much as in Frederick! We love it here!

Hagerstown is a great place to live!! But I wouldnt recommend downtown for raising 2 kids. There are some great neighborhoods and the housing market has been slow so you should be able to get a good deal. My neighbor homeschools and she has group of friends that also homeschools if you decide to move up this way I can get her email addy for you.
Let me know the area you are looking in and I can let you know :)

Wednesday May 9th at 10:30 my Mom's club playgroup is meeting at the City Park. Im extending the invite to anyone who wants to come play ( our group is 2 1/2 to 3 1/2) but all are welcome. I will be hanging out at the play area closest to the conession stand. Any one who is coming PM me or post here and I can figure out how to identify each other.

saw this thread and had to reply.

We have been living in Sharpsburg since 2003 and we love Washington County. Lots of great homeschool support groups - Appalachian Regional Coop and Potomac Home Learning Circle (PHiLC) are my favorites.

I am one of the leaders in the Shepherdstown LLL group but I don't get to all the meetings as I work Wednesdays in the Fall.

I think Washington County is a great place to raise kids - it reminds me of Loudoun County Va back in the 80's when my older kids were small - before all the development hit.

I have considered moving to downtown Hagerstown for the convienance but I am really missing having trees around - if we can afford to move where we have just a bit of land and stay in Southern Wash Co we may do it.
