Well, I don't know if I'm excited to be here or not. This came a huge shock as I had been planning to be a surrogate. Apparently spermicide isn't very effect BC after all. My bf and I haven't decided whether we want to keep this baby or look into adoption. We still need some time to adjust. But I know if we are keeping it we'll have a UP/UC.

I thought I'd give an update if anyone is interested...

After much discussion we decided that now is not a good time (actually, it's probably the worst possible time) for us to have a baby so we feel that giving the baby up for adoption is our best option. I feel so great about this decision, like a million weights have lifted off my shoulders and I am now happy and excited about being pregnant. I know this is the right choice for us all around. I was planning on being a traditional surrogate-where my own egg is fertilized by the IF's sperm-so adoption really isn't all that different for me, it's just my boyfriend's bio child now. The wonderful couple I have been planning to be a surro for couldn't be more delighted to adopt our baby. We all feel that maybe this happened for a reason and it's the way it's suppose to be. I'm still telling people (except family) that I'm a surrogate though because I want more people to know about this wonderful journey.

Congrats Trish. I have a close IRL friend who came to a similar decision when in a very similar situation. She was married with two children and was going to be a surrogate for her husband's brother & SIL when she got pregnant by her husband. They continued as planned and looked at it as a surrogacy as well, eventhough by all true definitions it's not--planned adoption I believe is the term that is usually used in such a case. But, anyway, it was 17 years ago and all went extremely well for them :)
