This may sound strange, but ive never gotten on well with Leo's.. im a pisces and all of the relationships i've had with Leo's have gone from bad to worse.. i dont hold much faith in astrology, its more of a fun thing for me.. but in terms of describing myself i would say im Very pisces! my dp is a libra (and fits the description to a T), my son is a capricorn and my daughter is a sagittarius (she was supposed to be a scorpio..and i was worried about that too!)
anyone else? or am i being totally silly (especially seeing as im not even 100% sure im pregnant..)
my EDD would be around the 3rd of august based on the first day my last period..

i hope i didnt offend you! i was just making an observation about my life.
maybe i will be lucky, or maybe growing up in a good home with a loving family makes more of a difference than astrological signs (hopefully!)

I'm an Aries (fit that one to a T, if I do say so myself :lol) and one of my best friends is a Leo and she is honestly one of the most kindest, thoughtful, generous people I have ever met.
Don't forget all signs have their good points and not so great points and as the childs mother, you have the ability to build on the strengths of their personality and their signs (sun signs, moon signs etc). I'm not an expert in astrology, but I do believe in astrology and there is more to just the birth month. :D

My oldest is a leo born aug. 10. She's very sweet and much more timid than my youngest. She's very caring. Although she does tend to be dramatic about things. I welcome another leo after my wild child Sagittarius.

i was looking it up and found this description...from..http://www.angelfire.com/in/RajunasRefuge/signs.html
LEO
Descriptors: The Performer. The King or Queen, The Child, The Creative Artist, The Lover, The Actor or Actress
KeyWords: Vitality, Confidence, Self-Expression
Warm, loving, and generous, Leo have big hearts. Their kind and magnanimous gestures come from a love of the dramatic, as Leos play to the crowd and feel happiest with an appreciative audience. Although they capture center stage, Leos are also attentive to others. They readily show their appreciation and approval of others. Ruled by the Sun, Leos possess a loveable, childlike playfulness, and a strong need for creative self-expression. They see themselves as leaders, and be struggle with vanity and pride.
They have a hard time admitting they were wrong, and are susceptible to flattery. They compensate though, with their sunny personality, sense of fun, and generosity. These friendly and gregarious people are ideal partners for social events, parties, theater, and long holidays. Their desire to shine combined with their royal commanding air, brings Leos naturally to positions of authority, where they can display their remarkable leadership skills. They take charge naturally. Some may accuse them of taking over, and being too bossy. They will work extremely hard to live up to their responsibilities, and make excellent managers and leaders. Leos who do not fulfill their natural potential may fall into idleness and lose their spirit.
They are known for their courage and dislike being considered weak and defenceless. Even under a facade of modesty, their regal dignity shows through. They presume everyone has the same sense of integrity as they have, and they maintain their sense of self-respect even in disagreements with others. Leos want others to think well of them, and are very aware of the impression they make on others.
They can be lively and enthusiastic yet stubborn. Their creativity and sense of drama combine to make them great romantics. Leos love to love and be loved. No matter where you meet them, their sunny personalities will make a lasting impression.

Having my due date so early in the month, it could go either way. Cancer or Leo. I'm a Libra, so I can bend. I'm happy with whatever. DH is a cancer and my SIL is a Leo, it seems like this baby could be really influenced by his side. I understand what you mean though, I know some Leo's with very strong personalities and it's kind of intimidating.
I always wondered can you do a birth chart ahead of time?

I'm not so much worried about the Leo I'm bringing in to this world as I am how my two Scorpio kids will handle it... I'm pretty sure my Capricorn will be fine with it, but my two Scorpios constantly fight to stay in the spotlight as it is. :lol

Not in your ddc but I am pg with a Gemini and AFRAID of that! I Leo would be cool for us (I am cancer\leo, ds is leo, dh is Taurus) - Geminis are the sign I fear most! :lol I guess I am being given an oppurtunity to change my view of Geminis!

I have one child and she is a Leo. She is a classic Leo.
Its tough now but I know that I will enjoy seeing her in action later on in life...I know she wont take any crap THATS for certain!
Im a Virgo and I have a really hard time with her. My dh is a Scorpio and they are interesting to watch together..:lol
Good luck to you..
Oh and I have to add that every Leo Ive EVER known had had GREAT hair. Its known as the lions mane...:wink

Well I'm a "wild sagittarius" kid so I get along great with most Leos :D That said, I was terrified about having a Virgo when I was pg w/ ds, but he is loads of fun and I think the universe is trying to show me that virgos can be good for me. If anything, he will balance me out as he grows (and hopefully will pick up the slack on my disorganized messy packratness :o ).

I'm actually hoping for a leo, but if I'm late enough (dd2 was induced w/ castor oil at 42 weeks to preserve her homebirth) it might switch over. That being said, I'm not going to induce for ANYTHING this time around!!
I don't think a Virgo would do well in our messiness :lol!

I have been reading this thread chuckling :) My ds is a Leo and I was afraid too. I am an Aries and I have to admit we mutually combust at times (ask dh :lol) BUT, he is also all of those wonderful things....smart, generous, loves life and is happy...truly a joy. Yes, he can be loud at times...we are working on that. It's a challenge for me to help him control himself a bit because I don't want to 'break his spirit'. He has beautiful long blonde hair :love
Good luck! Keep us posted :)

It's funny the things we pick to fixate on and worry about!
I was actually very excited by the possibility of a Leo because I've
always been surrounded by them: my dad, my first three boyfriends,
2 close friends. I'm a Pisces and wouldn't expect to get along with
them but it's worked out alright. My mom's a Pisces too and she and
dad are still going strong. Hubby is an Aries, though not necessarily
a "classic". It's meant to be whatever it will be, I guess and I'm guessing
it'll be fun!

Don't forget about the moon sign (which I don't know how much we can predict that before the babes are born, since it also depends on the exact date/time of the birth), but my understanding is the moon sign is second only to the sun sign for its effect on temperament. ;)

Well I am a cusp (8/22) and am also Gemini rising so I am evenly split pretty much between Leo and Virgo. I have one Virgo already and am really looking forward to having another Leo in the family. I do have to say that many of my friends are Pisces so I am surprised that you don't get along with Leo's. The ones I know though are at the tail end so perhaps that makes a difference? My sister is a Leo and one of my very best friends is a Leo. I LOVE LEO'S! We aren't all bad you just have to get past the strong personality.

not in your ddc but I;m a leo, my husband is a leo and my son an aries. We are all very strong fire signs but i am way more mellow than my husband. I think its strange because although i do like to talk about myself and have attention i am very shy. I think leo's can be a lot of fun and have very dynamic personalities. This time depending on when this one is born she could either be a picses or another aries.

I don't think it is silly to be concerned about the sun sign your babe will be born in. Just remember that the moon and planets play a big part into your child's birth chart.
I was, and perhaps still am, concerned about having a Leo. I was being really careful not to conceive a Leo (but read my post in the "surprise" thread :lol ). My reasons are a bit different than babe doing well in our family that consists of me (Scorpio), partner (Pieces), and son (Taurus). <--- interesting, no? :)
I'm not going explain why of my concerns, because we are all having Leos here! I just want to say that it is o.k. to be concerned, and it is o.k. to work through that concern during your pregnancy. I am envisioning that we are all going to do well regardless of what our concerns are! :wink

My cousin does them she rocks! This is me to a T eerily so.
The sun, moon, and rising are the three most looked at aspects of a chart...
Sun reflects your basic personality and behaviors.
Moon shows your unconscious nature, inner drive. Also shows your relationship with your mother.
Rising shows the way you interact with the world; the energies you put out and receive from others. Its often a reflection of yourself youre not so aware of but its how others see you.
Venus reflects our ability to love and be loved.
Mercury reflects our mental capacity; logic and reason.
Jupiter generally affects the larger group of people born around the same time youre born. However, if its on opposition or conjunction to a sign or house, then the affect is likely stronger on you. Jupiter has much to do with spiritual and higher learning. It reflects areas of your life you wish to seek the most freedom from.
Mars reflects your ability to assert yourself. "I want to be what I am" is a statement of mars. Its self confidence and taking care of oneself. Granted, if the sign in mars is not strong on those traits, then the sign is conjunct or in opposition. Mars shows where youll be most active. Mars reflects your father.
Saturn is rules and limitationsoften our careers. It gives form to life so we can be more effective in our disciplines. Saturn is Rigid.
Pluto shows the power of transformation. It reflects the changes that must occur in order for you to grow. Pluto can also indicate somebody using a power over you.
Uranus is the planet of freedom. It designates the area of your life where you need the greatest freedom and are likely to experience sudden surprises.
Neptune makes rules unclear. It doesnt set to break rules, rather, it cannot accurately see them. It reflects an area of your life youre often confused about. Neptune puts you in touch with the meaning of existence.
Your chart
Sun: LeoYou're strong willed and like to be in the center of things. You're warm until pride gets in the way. You consider yourself important; good and bad trait. On the bad side, you may turn friends away with this. Good side is that you won't allow yourself to be compromised.
Because you're so perfectly on the cusp, the Leo traits may be mixed with Virgo traits. In fact, you may find you battle with each side. Signs that lay near each other are often very conflicting in nature. YOu probably find yourself confused at times because of this. Virgo is very earthy and practical. Virgo is a perfectionist and cannot seem to do anything good enough. They're very critical.
Moon: Taurus
You enejoy security and warmth. You're warm and loving to those close to you. Emotionally, you're very stubborn. You're good at saving money and find good ways at earning even more.
Rising: Taurus
You do things deliberately...calmly. You resist to pressure.
Mercury: Leo
You think you're right and need others to think so too. You're stubborn and put a lot of yourself into what you believe. You put forth much energy to things you feel passionate about.
Venus: Libra
You can be friendly and enjoy having fun. You can handle being along and sometimes need it; however, you can often feel lonely because of it. Its a battle of two strong traits here...to be alone but not to feel lonely. SOmetimes you ask others to do the dirty work for you. You like beautiful things and unique clothing.
Mars: Libra
This has two strong differences... you're competative by friendly and unfriendly means. However, you also prefer working WITH people in a cooperative manner. But you do have a strong sense of fairness.
Jupiter: Cancer
You need to know you're loved and cared for. Your relationship to your father is likely very important to you. You need to know your family loves you and supports you. You enjoy things old rather than new.
Saturn: Virgo
You have an affinity for things that are precise, clear and definite. You enjoy order yet sometimes cannot create it. You're not willing to spend your energy unless you know the end results. Try not lookin at life so practically. You can be very critical and sometimes to yourself. Let yourself fail sometimes and dont condemn others when they do the same.
Uranus: Scorpio
You can show difficult moods. As a child, it was likely hard to get you to talk about feelings. You're used to doing things halfway...even though the first half is done with gusto.
Neptune: Sagittarius
You're from the generation of idealism. You likely grew up with a strong Christian view but might move towards a more eastern religious approach as you age.
Pluto: Libra
Everybody our age has Pluto in Libra. Basically showing we're raised without a sense of good marriage skills. Most kids our age have parents who get divorced, cheat and deceive the family image. IT can sometimes make it hard for these kids to be successful in their own marriages. Or on the contrary, can make the children of this era really strife for the best marriage because of their failure parents.
The nodes...
The North-South Node polarity pulls people in opposite directions. Nodes are karmic lessons. Basically, your karmic lessons stem from the south node and the only way to fix those are in the north node. Its a push and pull problem within ourselves. You want to grow and change, like the north node asks you to, but you're pulled into the ruts and challenges of your south node. So when looking at the nodes in a chart, you look at the challenges of the sign each node is in. It can get tricky... but here goes...
Your north node is your future and your south node is your past.
North Node (dragons head): Virgo (5th house creativity, children, developing love, talents and hobbies) You are learning to purify yourself and be of service in this life. You will make fortunate contacts with hard-working, clean-living people.
The north node presents opportunities to lead out of the south nodes nuts. Look to the north node for new ways of being, talents you dont realize you have or havn't manifested in your life and open your soul to these experiences.
Learn to foster productivity without criticism. Mentor others and develop good health habits.
South Node (dragons tail): Pisces (11th house excessive worries about others, egotistical, easily flattered, spiteful) You need to break away from being ungrounded, and from a tendency to escape reality.
The South node tells you waht you're leaving behind. It's a glance into your past and an example of you what you don't need anymore. Bad habits and repetitious things we do are likely our south node sticking around. Look at the sign's bad habits and try to break free from them. Being in the 11th house, you are trying to break free from social causes and dependence on friends or social groups. The north node in the 5th house shows you need to focus instead on learning to be creative and vital. You need to make a special connection with children and other creative people.
Chiron (the bridge between the body and spirit; the teacher; the healer): Taurus I once read the best description of Chiron from somewhere.I copied it but dont recall its origin" Chiron is the wounded healer. Many people who have had a painful childhood grow up to be psychiatrists or therapists so that they can help other people get through the same things that hurt them. Parents who have lost children to drunk drivers go on to form support groups so that other parents know they are not alone. These people feel the influence of charitable Chiron. It can be healing for a person to help others cope with a pain that they themselves have lived through."
With yours in Taurus you seem to have pain of neglect or perhaps that what you have and do isnt enough. Perhaps due to your parents being stingy or needing more all the time or because of actual physical hunger or lack of necessitiesand this causes pain spiritually. Taurus yearns for security; food, physical affection, and nourishment as well as indulgences. Rather than wallowing in what you lack, appreciate what you have. Share the gifts you have with others and in their appreciation for what you have, you too will appreciate it more.
Mercury in the 4th house
Books! Things that help your mind expand. You contemplate yourself a lot...try to undersatnd your deeper self. Be careful not to get too wrapped up in your own views.
Sun Conjunct Mercury
You have a good mind and enjoy talkin to people with good minds. You have a very hard time when people don't take you seriously. You take yourself very seriously and want people to see you ever-working mind.
Mercury Square Uranus
You enjoy challenging other people's ideas and beliefs. SOmetimes you may hurt people by this strong need to challenge their views.
Mercury Trine Neptune
You're extremely creative which enables you to see beauty in the world when people can't see it. You express this beauty through writing or art. You dream of a better world and sometimes lose touch of the truth.
Sun in the 4th house
Security is important to you, especially at home. You need your place to retreat. You're a quiet person with strong feelings...strong emotions. This makes you keep to yourself a lot. You have no need to be famous. Rather, you prefer to live up to YOUR own expectations.
Sun Conjunct Saturn
You always seem older than you are due to your seriousness. You can be hard on yourself .. demand too much of yourself. You may feel lonely or cut off from people.
Sun Square Ascendent
Others might seem to challenge your efforts at pursuing what you dream of doing. Look at this as a test. Its a test to ask yourself honestly, "Is this really what I want to do." If through their lack of support you still want to do your dream, then do it. By pursuing your own goals, you win respect.
Sun Trine Moon
You have strength in approaching hard times. You don't strain yourself at what you doo. You work on resolving problems in your life and don't cause battles within.

At first, I was concerned enough about having a Leo child that I was wanting to TTC at least a month or so earlier to avoid it. It wasn't the Leo possibility alone, though. It was the possibility of a fire Leo born during the year of the fire Boar. Ugh! and Apheared! and some expletives! :D
But then I did some research on what people born during the year of the Boar are supposed to be like (I fit all my astrological signs to a freekin' T) and I realised that a) a Leo Boar is probably the best option between a Cancer, Leo and Virgo* and b) Leo is just one part of the overall astro chart. So I gave it a rest and now I'm looking forward to it! I've really gotta stop myself from picking out names that mean 'fire', though. I think that's asking for serious trouble!
*Boars tend to be overly generous, which, when paired with Cancer can make for someone who gets taken advantage of often (as was the case with my dad, a Cancer Boar); they also tend to be perfectionists, which is not something I care to see paired with Virgo. Being a Virgo, myself, (with a Leo moon and Cancer rising *grins*) I can attest to the annoyance of perfectionism -- can't. let. go. must. be. just. so. (oy vey...)

This is interesting for I wanted a baby with a leo sign. OK I might be biased as I am a leo but I am a more shy leo. Hubby is a sag and I just knew our child would be a fire sign. Only way to keep up with mom and dad. One thing about leos they get along better with more signs than other signs do. Read that somewhere long ago. Sun sign is only part of the equation you also have moon and rising. They sometimes can have more influance so don't worry. I am sure things will be OK. :Hug

Not in you DDC but just wanted to say . . .
I used to not put much stock in astrology at all. I'm saggitarius but I hardly behave like one. I started to believe a little more when I met DH, a typical Cancer. And I totally believe now after having DS, a total and complete leo. He is such a handful--lots of fun and all, but strong-willed (stubborn if you will) and just a.whole.lot. He doesn't know the meaning of calm. LoL. I am very serious about not having another Leo if I can help it at all.

I'm a bit concerned, too. I don't know any Leos, at least not well. But traditional wisdom says Aquarians and Leos aren't great together. And the traditional wisdom holds true for me about not getting along well with Taurus and Scorpio people. Oh, well, at least s/he should get along well with my Sagittarius DD and Gemini DH.
And maybe astrological indications other than sun sign will be more favorable.

What are the date splits for the signs.... I know that Leo is most of August, but if I'm due at the end of August, what sign is that? I don't even know what sign DS is (November 24th)... I know that I'm Pieces and my DH is a Sag (and the only reason I know that is cuz I dated somone with a similar birthday prior to him)....
Anyway, I don't take too much stock in it, but I enjoy reading my horoscope occaisionally... usually to get a good laugh if nothing else. I am curious though, what signs the offspring are/will be...

Depends on the sign. The split for Leo/Virgo is the 22nd Leo and the 23rd Virgo. They are cusp dates though so the person will have traits of both signs.

I am worried about a leo child...i have never gotten along with a leo..friend wise, mom wise...lol
I am a pisces with very aquarius like tendencies...
DP is a true aries....
DD is a tarus with aries tendencies.
DSD is sag all the way.....
DSD and DD DO NOT get along at all....
IF baby comes early, she'd (hoping) be a Leo...if she came on time, a Virgo (my sister is a virgo and we are sooo opposite...)....
LOL...I am worried about everyone getting along and what I get along with well and not the fact that I need to fit an infant seat and toddler seat in the back of our small car in addition to dsd's booster when she is here with us (5 days at a time 2x/mo)...

I'm a Leo, but definitely not a typical one- for example, I'm an INFP, was very shy when I was younger, much more inward-focused, and am affected a lot by what others say or think. I think I have more water sign tendancies and never really identified much with being a Leo or liked them. Anyhow, my DS is also a Leo and though he is more outgoing in public than I was as a little one (but balanced, not running away all the time or clinging to me), he is still very giving for a 2 year old, gentle, and concerned with how others feel (pats owies, etc). I don't know if this has anything to do with his sign, but he is also very speech delayed with expressive communication but understands and follows instructions well. But, this doesn't stop his love for people as he gives a big smile and wave whenever he seems someone (even strangers).
I'm not too concerned with this baby also being a Leo, as none of the Leos in my house seem to have what I think of as the 'bad side' of being a Leo (overly self-centered, stubborn, rash, etc). Like PP stated, there are so many other variable that come into account when interpreting your sign- you may not exhibit all or even most of the traits of the sun sign.

My mother displays every negative trait about a Leo that's ever been noted... She's the poster child for scaring away potential Leo birthers. And she keeps insisting that this little one is going to be a Leo, "just like grandma". Man, I sure hope not!! On the other side of the coin, my dearest friend, her dh, and her older brother are all Leos as well, and they are the most awesome, talented, and wonderful people you could imagine. Maybe if this little one spends enough time around the three of them, the good Leo traits will be easier to assimilate... :rotflmao just kidding, mostly. :wink

Both my sisters are Leos, my co-workers are Leos... Plus I'm a Capricorn (earth sign) in a family entirely built of air and fire. I would really really really dig a Virgo. :lol I'll probably get it as my due date isn't til the 18th and there's a family history of going late. I don't really expec babe til the 25th at the earliest, and the 1st of Sept would be cool too.
Keeping my legs crossed!

I am a virgo and I have children of all signs but my hardest one is my Leo that is almost 4. This time I am due with twins and just know I am going to have 2 more Leo's. I am due Aug. 7th but might be induced early.
My Leo I have now is very very loving and loves to always cuddle with some one and love mom's lap the most. He also has the worst temper and is always saying or doing stupid stuff just to get a rise out of me. He is so strong minded and it's a constant fight with him, I get warn out by him. My husband who is a Aries get's along with him so well and they are like two pea's in a pod.
I guess we will see what happens.

We will have 2 Leos in the house when dd2 is born! I am a Leo and I wonder how that will work with her and I. My dd1 is a Saggatarius, which I was thrilled about. I've always thought Sags were the best, so smart and energetic! I've known a lot of other Leos in my life, even dated a couple. It's always been very intense, good or bad, just intense! My dh is a cancer who does not handle emotions well (typical of male cancers with bad childhoods). It'll be interested to see how he handles a house full of emotionally charged girls under fire signs!!!

I'm a Pisces and I get along with everyone except Virgos!! lol So I'm just glad my baby won't be a Virgo ... hoping he won't be anyway. My due date is the 7th, but since I had my daughter a week early, I'm hoping I don't go too long with this one.

Not pregnant but my dd was born last August and is a Leo. My DH is also a Leo (as is my brother).
I am a Pisces, and a very typical one at that. Really, myself and my DH shouldn't work at all together, but we do :lol
As for DD, she is a little diva Leo but such a cutie. While she is mid-Aug and DH is end July, they have both got similar laid-back and nice diva and strong personalities.
As for me, I just sit back and let them (mainly DD now) take the attention and enjoy the limelight. I shine in my own talents but I bask in theirs.

i am sagittarius with a moon sign aries and a rising sign leo... triple fire! i know, my poor dh! :)
i am completely excited about having a leo, so excited that i pray that i don't deliver early and have a cancer! i can understand though being concerned, i would be the same way if my child was going to be certain signs (not saying which ones because i don't want to offend any mommas!)....
my dh is a pisces and although sag and pisces isn't described as the ultimate match, i have had many close friends that are pisces and i love them! i think it is more than the sun sign and you really need to consider the whole chart before getting really concerned!
that said, my DH thinks it is a load of crap... LOL!

Oh no! I'm virgo, and dh is cancer...
A little OT, but I found it really cute to read a daily horoscope for an infant, things like "challenges today with management" and "your love interest shows you favor.." are hilarious!!!

At first I was a bit worried about having a Leo child, but my husband eased my worries by reminding me that I will be her mother, and our natures will surely influence her in turn. My husband is a Scorpio, I'm a Capricorn, my eldest son a Virgo. So we'll have our first (and last!) fire sign in the family.
My husband has a strong personality and he's a water sign, so in a way I think he has the potential to clash more with her. However, why do we think about clashes when the Leo has so many wonderful qualities?
I do know a Leo baby who's the most delightful, sunny child. A classic "easy" baby (if there was ever such a thing).
I'm having my baby around that same time, in the beginning of August.
Good luck!
