I had a great time!
Let me tell you...it has been a couple months since I have just sat and talked (amongst getting up and running after my kids) with other mothers, and for me, it was a needed activity for my mind. I felt really good when I got home.

Should we pick a time in January to meet? and a different location, so the others could make it?

A recap of what we did:
Katie and I got busted for not paying for a ticket on an NS train that went forward and backward lasting 20minutes to go 2KM (or something like that).

We all met at the Train museum and had introductions.

We walked around a little and went on a motorized ride on which Sarah broke :lol just kidding...she just happened to be on it when it broke, and had to be led on foot out of the exhibit.

Then we went outside so the older kids and Katie's totally confident 1.5yo could ride on the train and pull themselves accross the water on the boats - no one fell in, yay!

At lunch time we just hung out, ate, :bfs , and talked...until the one of the employees was inappropriately rude to Katie, and she had to write him up - HA!:p that'll teach 'em to mess with MDC moms.

Jennifer, thank you for providing the delicious crackers that my DD ate all of (I think I saw them at Naturwinkel a couple days later, too).

The 1.5 y/o's actually interacted a little throwing a ball around.

Then we said our goodbyes!

I had such a good time with you guys! It was so nice to just sit and talk about homebirths and homeschooling and eating well and adjusting to life here. And all the while nursing and letting them run around free.

Sarah, thank you so much for forcing us to commit and find a day that would work! You are the reason this fabulous visit actually happened.

Jen, I know you were a little worried about the age difference, but I'm so glad you and the boys came! Anneke was still talking about them when we got home. She really liked following them around and loved the pictures of them on the train together.

Krissy, your kiddos are so wonderful. I won't even attempt to spell DD's name, but she is the sweetest 3 year old I've ever met.

What I noticed is how happy the kids were--there were a few sleepy moments, but that had to be the most content, free-spirited, well-nourished group of kids I've seen in a while. Did anyone else notice this? They just played and climbed and were so content, and no one was getting yelled at or having to be coerced to do anything. It was nice...

I have to report though that we went back to the Spoorwegmuseum this week, and they didn't seem to take my suggestions that 1) maybe such a fabulous children's museum didn't need a tv right in the middle of it, and 2) maybe if they moved the humungous rack of candy away from the tv playing kids' videos they wouldn't need an employee to stand there and yell at the toddlers. Ah well...at least I tried.

Happy holidays you guys! We'll see you sometime soon!

Katie

We had a lot of fun too and look forward to getting together again soon.

I thank Sarah too for getting everyone together. We should scout out another venue for our next outing. :wink

We had a great time, too.

So how about we propose a date now? Katie, you're not going to back until February, are you? Please let us know your schedule. For me, some time in the last week of January or later would be best because I'll have my brother visiting in the first part of January.

I have two more moms/babies that I'm going to try to recruit for next time.

So, everyone please post with your schedule and let's try to get something on the calendar.

Sarah

We're now supposed to be back the last week of January. It's kind of up the air though (due to DH's work schedule). Whatever you guys decided on, I'll join if we're back in town.

I'm sooo sad I missed it, sounds like you guys had a great time! Can I join in next time, pretty please? Our calendar late jan/feb is still wide open, so it shouldn't be hard this time. I would love to get to know some more like minded mamas around. People here seem to think it's totally amazing I'm still nursing (and pumping for) my 4 month old :dizzy:

Hanna and I had a wonderful time meeting up with all of you! It was so neat to see so many bilingual American children in one gathering.
We hope to see you again.
