Ok- We are desperatly in need of boys names! :dizzy: We had pretty much agreed on Noah William and then found out that it was the #6 name in 2006 (so far), so it's out! Other names we like are Isaac, Liam and Dylan.
Factors to consider... Our last name has two syllables, starts with a "shh" sound and ends in "er" so we are avoiding names like Sawyer and Hunter, which sound too sing-songy. Our daughter's name is Avery, we like gender neutral type names. My Dad was born and raised in Scotland, so we do tend to lean towards Celtic/Scottish names and finally, we would like to use William as a middle name (after grandfathers on both sides). Ideas, please! Thanks!

I am a fan of Dylan. That's my brothers name and he's a good guy :)
If I remeber correctly, it's a Welsh name though.
We also leaned toward Celtic/Scottish names. If you're set on William as a middle name I wouldn't go with Liam - it's essentially the same. Kieran, Rhys, the ever popular Conor/Connor/Conner, Colin, Devin, there are a lot of great ones out there.

I should have mentioned that! Liam is to be used "instead of" William, middle name would be different, probably James or Robert! Not Liam William though :lol

One of my fave all-time boys names is Killian, it's of Gaelic origin.. means "small, fierce" and it's not a hugely popular or trendy name.

We really liked Noah too, but like you think it is much too popular. If you like gender neutral names how about Jamie, Cameron, or Robin.

I like Dylan William. You can't have Liam William, it's redundant. Dylan is definitely gender-neutral; Isaac, not so much.

Hope you dont mind me popping in..
How about Cian? Thats our little Noah's middle name.:wink
The boy's name Cian is pronounced KEE-an.
It is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "ancient."

You could do William Noah and use Liam for a nickname.

I absolutely love Isaac! Dylan is good but popular and gender neutral. And Liam is good, but not w/William.
Good luck. It took us months to settle on a name.

I love the name Cullen - but then again, that's my DS name. :lol It is Celtic and means young animal or cub, so his nickname in the family is Cub (or Cubbles).

A caution about Liam, Isaac and Dylan. If you're looking for less than popular names, all three of these are within the top 100, but perhaps more notedly all in the middle of a big spike in usage - which means any of them could be in next years top 20 (well, Dylan is this year.) A good link to see trends over time:http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html
Popularity aside, I love all three, so you might consider dropping that concern altogether and naming the baby whatever your heart settles on regardless :)
I'm agonizing over boy names myself. On my bad days I can be nearly in tears over the fact that my son to be (due jan 31/feb1) still has no name despite my best efforts, LOL. Popularity isn't so bad, but nothing has been calling to me. Some people say wait and see the baby, but if I had done that with my daughter I think I'd have named her Pumpkin, so that is perhaps not my best strategy. I need at least a short list! Good luck with your efforts. Maybe I can steal your name later :D
Edited to add: My sister has been pushing Alistair too... I tell her, what a name geek name! lol

I'm in the same boat. We are having a boy and I have no good boy names. Every name I like it gets the stink eye from my fiance and every name he likes I am not fond of. It took us the very day of my daughters birth to agree on a name "together" anyway,
here is my list so far:
Blake August
Bowen Zane-----we can call him "Bo" for a nickname.
Nash
Torrence
Torin
Talon
I like names that are not so common, but at the same time not to flakey soundiing.....:dizzy: I'm gonn have a hard time naming my son....lol
Here is Hubbys list so far:
Blaze
Graysen
Ps: my friend just had her baby and she named him Liam....Its a cute name.
