Hi,

Sorry - I'm having terrible problems with my bottom and *severe* constipation. I need to go but I'm so constipated and have to strain, but still nothing happens! Then I get a really bad pain inside my bottom and have to stop and get off the loo, and there is a really sore bump just inside my bottom.

Is this hemorrhoids from straining so much? It can't be can it?! If it is, what can I do to make it go away really quickly? I'll never be able to go with constipation and now this.

Thanks for your help.
Emma.

I have never had hemrroids, but I know you get them from straining. I have always been told that its a big NO NO to strain when pregnant. My midwife ordered me to eat prunes, 3-4 in the morning and the same at night. I was only going once every three days. Changing your diet a little can make a big difference. When I eat fruits daily I have no problems.
I don't know about the hemrroids though, I'm sure someone here can give you advice on that!

its a hemorrhoid ;) No big deal, welcome to the club! Start taking a stool softner everyday (I take 2 colace every night) and increase your fiber intake. Drink lots of water. As soon as you control the constipation your hemorrhoid will probably get better or go away.

Like the other PPs said, try not to strain and drink lots of water. I find that eating lots of fruit, esp. cherries and watermelon also helps. Good luck.

yeah, loads of water, stewed fruit (especially prunes) and also a high fibre breakfast can help.

If I have something different for breakfast I end up very sore and constipated.

I have had problems with severe constipation. In my case, stool softener did NOT work. The only thing that worked was FiberCon, combined with AllBran every day for breakfast, and several prunes every day. And so much water I pee every 30 minutes. The most important factor for me is the FiberCon - that stuff is wonderful.

it's hemorrhoids. welcome to the club. :o The recommendations are a high-fiber diet (not necessarily what you think: search the mayo clinic's list of what foods have how much fiber, i was surprised!), lots of water, and exercise of the lower body (even just walking).
