So we are going on a cruise with my DH work. Not my usual style, but it is free and it will be my first trip alone with DH in 9 YEARS! My midwife gave me the go ahead (I'll be 15 weeks). Any advice for travel?
Thanks
Heather

I went to the UK at around 9 weeks and my doctor just told me to make sure I got up to stretch every 2 hours while on the plane and other forms of transportation (trains, buses, etc.) in order to prevent blood clots. If you start feeling tired, just stop and take a break if you're walking a lot. Make sure you stay hydrated and all should be fine. Basically, just listen to your body. It will tell you if you're doing too much.
Have fun!!!! :)

We drove "up north," an 8 hour drive, at about 4 months pregnant. My midwife said to get up and walk every two hours, to drink extra fluids and to take Vit C. I forget the why on the Vit. C- maybe to keep swelling down?

i'm 37 weeks and took a 2 1/2 hour drive to visit my sick grandma in the hospital. my MW said it was fine but didnt really give me any special instructions.
the #1 thing i would recommend... see if the cruise ship has a professional massage therapist. sometimes i wish i sent DH to massage therapy school instead of having him go back for computers...
#2... go on finding your tribe and get the name and number of a mw/dr you can go to in an emergency.

I took a trip to Europe by plane with my toddler when I was 20 weeks pregnant. The flight was 20 hours in total and I had to change planes once. I don't really recommend flying pregnant with a toddler on long flights, it can get really exhausting and taxing.
Just make sure you get plenty of water and eat healthy nutritious foods/snacks while you travel. I found eating well very important because when you are traveling you still need your good nutrition but you may forget about eating/drinking. I bought some healthy food alternatives at the airport because what they tend to serve during the flight was not working for me. Make your dh aware that you are a special needs person and need extra care.
Enjoy!

I travelled to Hawaii (holiday) by myself at 7 mo. pregnant.
I second what the pp said. Make sure you have snacks for yourself. Lots of water.
I don't know if you're big enough to need extra pillows etc. yet, but that is something to consider bringing.
Oh yeah, and have fun!!

Definitely lots of healthy snacks. I always get the munchies in the middle of the night and having to walk around a cruise ship to find a snack at 2am does not sound fun!
Other than that, enjoy and have fun!

You should be fine.
I traveled from NY to Japan at 24 weeks. I wore support hose and took along a copy of my medical records, along with lots of snacks. It was fine. Last week (at 30 weeks) I traveled to Florida. The 3 hour flight was no problem. Just stay hydrated, and you should be fine!

I've had three trips in the past three weeks, two for buisness, and have travelled a few other times since pregnant. I'm 27 weeks. I highly recommend that you stay ultra hydrated, wash hands a lot, and keep away from sugary foods as much as possible. Your immunity is compromised due to the baby and being in a new place hightens your chance of catching an unfamiliar virus. I've caught colds several times travelling so far. The plane ride might be it, this old office building might be it, the holidays and general increase of circulating viruses might be it. Dunno, but I brought my own box of tissues this time (I'm out of town this week for my last business trip) and am heeding my own advice.

I traveled a lot for work when I was 2-3 months pregnant. My midwife recommended the Airborne product to keep you from catching anything. Also, if you are prone to morning sickness or motion sickness take some ginger root or a homeopathic for naseau. I got very motion sick on the airplanes and I can't imagine being on a ship!
Have fun!

I was concerned that with 5000 of A in my prenatal, and 5000 of A in an Airborne, and a typically rich diet, that it would exceed my daily dose of A, a vitamin that isn't good to exceed.
I didn't ask my doctor because I assumed the answer, is Airborne okay in this circumstance?

at 15 weeks you should do great! Hopefully you'll get lots of rest. If you will be flying or sitting for long periods of time, just get up and walk a bit every 2 hours or so, even just standing and kind of doing some quick squats is helpful. This is to help with blot clots, which are more common in our legs now that we're pregnant.
Be sure to drink lots of water! Have a great time!
