What's cost of living like? Where's a good area to live? Good doctors, etc... I am a complete country bumpkin. Have never lived in a city before. Are there reasonably priced apts with w/d hookup? If no is cd still feasable? What about safety? What would be the minimum income you would recommend for a thrifty family of 4? Thanks so much!

I live in Montgomery County , MD - just outside DC. Are you planning to live in DC or the burbs?

The cost of living is pretty high in around the DC area a 4 bedroom 2000sq ft house will run 300,000 or more depending on which community you choose and what kind of commute you are willing to accept. If you are looking for country living, consider the Maryland side, Va is so built up you are looking at a 1 hour commute out of DC just to see some country. There are littlepockets of more rural communities in MD. This is not to say that it is country living like you are used to, just saying is possible to find some small homes whose neighbors aren't right on top of you. baby fussing so will be back
