I just ate a bunch of baked goods (bad, I know) and now I am very conjested. What am I reacting to? The sugar? The flour?
For dinner I had a beer and some pasta, both of which can also make me congested but I am just noticing the conjestion now.
Is this an allergy?

Could be. You could eliminate all those things from the your diet (the ingredients of the baked goods, the beer, the pasta, the pasta sauce) for a few days and reintro one ingredient at a time for a 3 days and see if you react to one singularily.

If you normally get congested after eating pasta, I would suspect wheat allergy (beer usually has some wheat in it as well.)

Some people get congested after eating sugar if they're not used to having a lot of sugar (and maybe more people do, but don't notice b/c they're used to eating all that sugar.)

I do eat a lot of wheat and sugar, I am afraid. My stomach was a wreck this morning as well.
I have been curious about possible food allergies/intolerances in me and my nursling... I was thinking dairy (there is a family hx) but perhaps I should think about wheat as well.
When doing an elimination diet, is it better to eliminate all suspected troublesome foods and then reintroduce one at a time or eliminate and reintroduce one at a time? I am also avoiding soy, so whatever will I eat if I do this?????

Eliminate all troublesome foods at once for about 2 weeks to give your body time to heal and introduce one at a time. You can eat turkey, chicken, beef, veggies and fruits.

If you're vegetarian, beans are fine. :) Potatoes, millet, rice, sorghum, any fresh vegetable or fruit, meats, beans.

I have a rice cooker--the cheapy $20 one and it works great. Perfect rice every time. Add an extra level of water or broth to brown rice. For dinner most nights we have steamed or stir fried veggies and rice, either w/ a little meat or some beans or lentils. We use coconut milk in a lot of stuff to replace dairy, like in soups and desserts. Also coconut milk in rice is very yummy. For breakfast, we usually eat cereal, but on weekends, I like to make pancakes. You can find gluten free mixes and use egg replacer and water in place of eggs nad milk. They turn out just fine.
