Anyone here in San Antonio??????

Hi, just wondering if anyone here is from San Antonio....I'm not a completely natural mama, but I do believe in attachment parenting and am definitely open to new ideas and suggestions. I am trying to change a few things in our household (like switching from disposable to cloth diapers for our 18 month old), but my husband is resisting. Suggestions????:(

I'm actually live a long way from San Antonio, but I am from Texas, and DH's family lives there. I have been there many, many times!

And I'll be there again in about two more weeks for yet another visit!

As for the cloth diapers, I too just made the switch - dd is 9 mos. Dh was also reluctant, but he's seeing how excited I am over them, and he's coming around.

Give him lots of info about the benefits, a little time, and I bet your Dh will warm up to the idea soon.

Hi! I'm from San Antonio, too! I recognize your "name" from the diapering board. I don't have a lot of advice, but I'd say to gently teach by example. Maybe as your dh sees how great cds really are, he'll slowly warm up to it more.

I have 2 children, one 7 months and a 3.5 year old.
We homeschool, non-vax, and try to live as naturally and AP as possible (What does that really mean anyhow? LOL)

I am soooo glad to find some more AP parents that live in San Antonio! I truly figured I was the only one in SA who read Mothering. I'm not as good at the natural part as I am at the AP part. I live off of IH10 and DeZavala. Parks are good. My kids love parks. If we drive past one and don't play, it's like the world has come to an end. :bawl Definitely give the details about the messaging board. I'm interested!!!

My husband was anti cloth dipes, too. I just went with it and promised him he didn't have to change poopy ones.

I'm in SA too! I just started visiting this board, and I'm excited to find some other SA mamas. I'm up for getting together sometime! Parks are good - parks in the morning before it gets scorching hot are even better. :thumb

My DH wasn't very excited about cloth dipes either, but now he loves them. I broke him in easy with velcro fastening AIOs.

Yes, the list can be very quiet for prolonged periods of time then we have a spur of chit chat. I've found that lately, a lot of NON AP mamas have joined. That's fine with me, they need companionship and I can show them by example how I parent. But conversely, the latest conversations about homebirth or whatever can become a bit heated or people take offense :confused: But, another of our members is starting up a local chapter of API here...that's exciting and I'm looking forward to making some of the meetings.

I have been so floored by the group lately, members have been bringing me dinner and taking care of us since my mom died on Monday...it's been such a blessing.

Really, we must all get together so I can show off my Fuz to people who will "oooh" and "ahhh" not say "What!?!?! You paid what for that?!?!:eek " It's always nice to meet other cding mamas :D

SquirelNutkin, were you able to find a doctor? I think I pm'd you the name of a possible ped, but of course I since deleted it. I need to find one now. If anybody knows of one who will actually partner with me on vaccination decisions, I would love to get the name.
