View Full Version : Aromatherapy for dental visit?

I'm preparing my 4 & 5 year olds for some dental work on Thursday (5/8) I read about using some Young Living oils to calm them before we go and feel prepared.

One more concern, my 4 year old is very sensitive to taste and smell. When I was talking about the 'clown nose' for nitrous, her first question was 'what does it smell like?'

Is there something I can do to create a good smell 'space' for her? I don't want to interfere with the nitrous and don't want to make her so stinky that the folks at the dentist office have problems. I was thinking about maybe some orange or lemon essential oil scent.

Do you think this would help? How would I apply? In a cream below her nose (a la Vicks Vaporub?) Is there a product that may combine calming properties with a scent that would overcome the latex smell?

p.s. the dentist office doesn't use scented masks for the nitrous
