Wise papas:
My brother is becoming a father this year. The baby is due at the end of October. He and my sil have not discussed whether they plan to use any ideas from attachment parenting....I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for a book on new fatherhood that I could gift him with~
TIA

I've read a book called Real Boys. I forgot the author's name, but it's really good. It supports a boy's need for his mother in the early years...etc. It's awesome!!!! Another is Dr. Sears' baby book. He rocks.

Thanks for your suggestions! I may just give him the baby book and "Playful Parenting."
I checked out "Becoming a Father" on Amazon and am concerned about the reviews that mentioned some of the book's advice: the man being the decision-maker and a "love the sinner hate the sin" attitude toward homosexuality.
Since I am a lesbian mom I wouldn't feel comfortable passing that on....
Are there any other books you experienced dads really like~

One of my friends gave me "the new fathers panic book"
when he found out my wife was pregnant. depending what type of person he is, this book might be quite informative. Some guys i know dont realize whats going on with women when theyre pregnant.i found out just by asking her and reading some books of my own. it talks about almost EVERYTHING involved with the pregnancy. things she might want while in contractions, foot massages here and there, and generally how to be there for her.
my wife had no problem telling me what she wanted when we had our daughter in our room. it was a water birth involving a midwife, and she was pushing in the birthingtub when i said " ill be right back! ill set the video camera!" lucky for me i was in mid-turn when she quickly grabbed my shorts and said stay, other wise i wouldnt be looking forward to another child someday:)
Anyway, i think this book would be a GREAT help in getting men prepared for things. the author is gene b williams
good luck!!
