Mamas! We finally got our own DDC!!! I just noticed it now; wonder how long it's been up--probably not too long. Let's check in here, even those of us who checked in in the main DDC forum. It'll be good to keep info all in one place, especially for those just joining us (and hopefully there will be many!)

Just provide whatever information you'd like!

Name: Melissa
Age: 26
Previous Pregnancies: 2--resulting in 2 DDs, ages 5 and almost 3
Due Date: September 1
Birth Plans: Planning a first HB, second unmedicated with a MW.
Location: Ontario, Canada (gotta love OHIP funded midwifery care)
Current Symptoms: Tiredness, cruelly coupled with sporadic insomnia (it's 2AM here), nausea, irritability, bloating, feeling very hungry.

I'm a social work and law student, and both of my previous kids were born while I was studying. I plan to continue my studies part-time when this babe comes. We are not planning to find out the sex of the baby, as I found it very exciting last time to not find out until DP told me after delivery.

I am very excited to get to know you all over the next 8 months.

Hi, I'm Renée. I am due Sept 3. So far I am a little urpy, crampy, super tired and right now, feeling a little nervous.... Has anyone else seen the faintest of lines on the pg test? I've taken 3. They all have very faint lines, but they are there....What gives?

We are not finding out the sex of the baby. We hope to have a HBAC this time around. We have the most wonderful dd who will be a great big sister!

Nice to meet you all!
Renée

Renee, check out my "2 lines" :lol .

http://jemm.dyndns.org/whatdoyousee/

There really were 2 lines.
I took a digital after that that was -, but wasn't an early detector like this one. I ended up feeling anxious until 3 days later when I retested with a digital and got my +. In the meantime, I did a total of 11 POAS tests and they never got much darker than the one in the link.

Here's a repeat of my intro:

Name: Becky
Age: 31 (32 next month)
Location: Just north of NYC
Due Date: around September 2, 2007
Previous Pregnancies: 1, ended in miscarriage in October 2006 at around 5 weeks.

Other: It took a lot for me to feel ready to start a family. I've always wanted kids, but emotionally the thought of being a mom was totally overwhelming and scary to me. My husband, however, was more than ready for kids when we got married in August 2005. In May 2006 I went off the pill and started charting, just to see what my cycles looked like. Found out I had a short LP so I started taking Vitex, which worked like a charm to not only lengthen my LP but also to move up my ovulation date. We decided to start trying in September and got pregnant immediately and I was happy but terrified. I started miscarrying only 5 days after getting my BFP. My cycle went right back to normal after that ended. With this cycle, I felt such happiness and peace right after we conceived, I just knew that I'd be pregnant and that it would stick (I hope I'm right about that!!).

Symptoms so far: Extreme thirst even before I got my BFP (that was my biggest symptom last time I was pregnant), which has partially subsided, getting tired early and feeling like my heart is beating faster -- I read in my Mayo Clinic book last night that this is common and comes from the increased blood volume. Interesting!

Welcome, Heidi! I love the Big Brother t-shirt idea. Some friends of ours did the same thing. We were thinking of getting a shirt like that for our cat, since we think of him as our child :D but then I'm worried people will just think we're getting another cat! :lol

Sabo!! Did I know you were pregnant? Anyway, congrats! I'm excited to see you here. Thanks for reminding me about that book -- I've been meaning to get it for my husband, but couldn't remember the name.

Welcome, Renee! I think some mild cramping in early pregnancy is normal. Also, my first two pregnancy tests at 12 and 13DPO were very faint.

Arelyn, nice to have you here. I'm also glad to hear that this pregnancy feels different for you -- it also feels different for me and that gives me hope that it will continue normally.

Welcome Andrea -- sorry you're having such severe symptoms already!

Name: Heidi
Age: 30
Previous Pregnancies: 1 - DS is 16.5 mo
Due Date: September 2(ish)
Birth Plans: Planning a HB again (first HB was scrapped due to pre-e)
Location: Houston, TX
Current Symptoms: exhausted but can't sleep (argh!), some very slight nausea, hungry all the time but nothing looks appetizing, nipples are getting pretty tender and nursing is quite a chore already... my first real "symptom" was my totally irrational and b!tchy attitude last week. I even snapped at DS! Thankfully that has subsided and I'm actually feeling pretty good. :)

I want to thank everyone in the other thread who reassured me that twins are a blessing. I'm actually pretty excited to think of the possibility, but right now I'm just so overwhelmed at the prospect of just ONE more baby that TWO is completely flabbergasting!

We told my parents last night. It was so much fun! I made DS a t-shirt that says "I'm the BIG Brother!" When we got there my dad wasn't home yet, so DS kept his sweater on. After dad got home, I took off DS's sweater and told him to "go show mimi (my mom) your new shirt." She bent down to look at his shirt and I could see this puzzled look cross her face, and then she literally started screaming and jumping up and down. :lol She was SOOO excited. DS got a little freaked out - like he couldn't understand why his t-shirt was so upsetting to his mimi LOL. My dad took a moment to catch on but then there were hugs all around. My sister (the one who is currently expecting twins) showed up a little while later and her 3yo DD was so excited about my "twins." :lol I had to explain to her that it might be just one baby - she seems to think all babies are twins now. :wink

OMG, Melissa. That is hysterical! Mine were only slightly darker. I found out that my last test was less sensitive than the first two I took! Doh! I am fighting the urge to take another. My dear best friend told me this: Your period is late (it's never late), you are feeling symptoms already, Dd said that your "muckie is yucky" and you saw lines THREE times (albeit faint), YOU'RE PREGNANT! <<yell>>

Oh, Becky, thanks for the tidbit on rapid heart rate. Mine was rapid as well, although I am not sure if it's due to the holiday caffeine/sugar withdrawl or anxiety over NOT SEEING DARK LINES!!!!! :lol

Congrats all the way around!

Well, I'm officially in the August DDC, but I figured that I'd post a bit here as well, since I'm expecting to be late.

My name is Mindi, I'm 35 (advanced maternal age... HA!), and I'm expecting my second child sometime end of August or Early September.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. :)

Hello!
I think I belong here - I ovulated about December 11, so I think I'd be due in September.
So, I'm Jeanine. This is my 4th pregnancy. I have 2 dc's and I had a miscarriage in August, so I'm really nervous (you can see I haven't changed my siggie yet.) I have low progesterone, so I'm taking progesterone suppositories 2x a day, yuck! I'm 35, so I'm sure I'll be "advanced maternal age".
Ds is 5 1/2, and dd will be 2 in April.
I've been ever so slightly nauseous. Dd had a stomach bug a week ago, so I figured I was getting it, too, but then I took a test and saw two lines!!!!!!!
I'm going to have a hospital birth - we live in the boonies and there is one midwife to choose from, and if there's a problem you go to a rural hospital that is not equipped to handle a problem. If we lived in a city I would love to have a homebirth, but I'm not comfortable with it where we live. I'm hoping for as intervention-free as possible.
Please send sticky baby thoughts this way, and I'll use my Jedi mind powers to send sticky baby thoughts your way!

Birth Plans: Really want a homebirth, but having difficulty finding a mw in my area

Yeah, so I am officially due the end of August, but I think I'll be late since this is my first. I'm predicting this moment that I'll give birth on Sep. 9.

Symptoms: Tender breasts (starting to get a little veiny), a little bloated, occassional nausea, and periodic backache. Oh and the one I like: my skin looks very bright.

Becky: I think I posted my BFP about 2 or 3 days before you got yours. By the way, my dh loved the book and just finished it.

Hello Ladies!

Name: Nicole
Age: 36
Previous Pregnancies: This is the #1
Due Date: September 1ish
Birth Plans: Would love a home birth
Location: MD
Current Symptoms: Really, really sore boobs, tiredness, hungry every couple of hours and a littel irritability and some cramping

I just POAS first thing this morning. It came as a huge surprise as we were taking a break from paying attention to charts, etc. And just decided to go with the flow. I decided to myself last night my boobs were too sore to be normal and AF was past due by 5 days. We still can't believe it! I don't even know where to start. I bought some RR tea today. I don't really have a midwife or gyn. I have a friend who is studying to be CPM but lives in another state. She says I really don't have to see anyone right now but should start thinking about what kind of birth we want to have before we start our prenatal care.
Wow, I'm just still taking it all in. I look forward to getting know you ladies and for the threads to come.
Peace and Congrats to all.

Oh twins! Wow, exciting! I am definitely not prepared for that as we intend for this to be our last baby. I'll be relieved after the first u/s. I think twins would have been great for the 1st or 2nd pregnancy however!

Nice to meet you, Mindi!

Welcome, Jeanine. I ovulated Dec 10th and my due date is 9/02/07, so yours is probably 9/03. I've also had a recent miscarriage, so I totally understand your apprehension. Will you be having bloodwork done?

Welcome Betsy and Nicole!

I tested today and got a faint line. I read on peeonastick.com that the +/- tests aren't to be trusted or have false positives or...anyway...

Anyway, I bought another test tonight and will test again tomorrow before I officially join.

The kicker----my hubby is 2 years post vasectomy. We may be one of the 12% of failures.....

Anyway, I might see you around!
I want to ask a question quick... what are your cervix positions like?

Mine is medium, tilted back, and a bit "crispy" (firm but the rest of my cervix is medium)

Becky,
I had HCG tested today (don't know the results) and will test again on Friday to make sure it's increasing appropriately. The nurse said the doc may want to test weekly after that, but I'm not sure at this point. I have an u/s scheduled for 3 weeks. The thing with the progesterone is, if the embryo stops developing, my body won't expel it while I'm on the progesterone, which I'll have to take for 10 or 12 weeks. I want to keep my "eye" on it, so that I can stop the progesterone, if need be. (Happy thoughts, happy thoughts, everything's going to be fine.) I'm scared to get my hopes up. I'm actually a little surprised that I posted here.
:grouphug Congratulations to everyone, and sticky baby thoughts all around!:sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky :sticky

Ok, I took a second test, I used a cup, and it had the same light line. But it was the same brand test that gave me the light line yetersday.

Anyone know anything about the +/- tests?? I read they were no good on peeonastick.com or they had a high false positive rate.

I got the negative on Answer Quick and Simple. I still have the cup. Should I try a different brand?? FRER or something??

Megan,
I read about the false + stuff at peeonastick.com as well for the +/- tests. I actually ended up using those tests this pregnancy, and I've gotten positives. Even prior to getting a positive, I was pretty sure that I was pregnant, though.

I think that if you're getting a questionable line, trying a different test is worth it. You can get pretty cheap and reliable tests at the dollar store these days. Are you charting? Being late can be caused by so many things, most often (if not pregnancy) than by a delayed ovulation.

I don't know, maybe your best bet is to wait a few days and test again if AF still doesn't show up.

Good luck, and I hope you get some happy results soon!
=Mindi

its_our_family
12-28-2006, 09:07 AM
See, I'm not just testing cause I'm late. If I was jsut late I'd just move on. But it is the other stuff....

3 or 4 days late, heartburn whenever I eat, the charlie horse muscle spasm issue, dull low back ache, cramps that are mild, cervix is closed firm and tilted to my spine--like with Bryce, the increase in what I can express, sore breasts, and this morning my boobs are too big for my bra

Last night getting in bed my husband said, Um, is your period here yet cause those look like pregnant boobs.

More than likely this is jsut a "late" issue. But when I took the test and got that light line...I started to freak out a bit :lol

Mindi22
12-28-2006, 09:10 AM
It certainly sounds like some pregnancy symptoms there. I think it's entirely possible that you are pregnant, and just not producing enough HCG yet to get a consistantly positive test.
Waiting sucks, though....

hi! my name is sarah, and i am a (mostly) sahm to my ds, 18 mo old. dh and i have been planning on two babies, close together, since before we ever got pg the first time (one miscarriage april 04 11 wks). i AM A MOTHER, always have been-just knew i would somehow/someday be a momma, even as a little girl (yeah, i was one of those....).
i love, love, love, more than anything being a momma to my boy, and can NOT believe how sad/confused/scared/worried i am about being pregnant again..... (ok, :( crying). i did not expect to feel this way at all, and i dont' know how to get past it (just took a test this morning, AF 4 days late).
i'm sure a lot of it is MONEY. we just admitted/realized two weeks ago (right after TTC!!!!!) that we could not afford to be a one income household anymore, and i have been really stressing and sad about having to leave my dear boy or share him with other kids that i would be babysitting, etc. and now i have to worry about how to do it with two. i know this sounds really lame and wimpy (i can't WORK and have BABIES? people do it all the time!). but this so does not fit into how i wanted to parent...... i don't WANT someone else to raise my kids. i don't WANT to have to bottle feed my baby, or at least not be able to feed on demand all the time...... i want her/him close to me all the time, wrapped up, mine all mine, and i don't know how to do that AND share my boy AND work AND and and. i really need some emotional guidance and some light brought on my situation. i am crying so hard i can't type. isnt' the depression supposed to show up AFTER the baby is born!?:gloomy:
sorry to bring this thread down. i fully expect to be happy, glowy, wonderfully excited after i can get past my worries and figure out how to be a WORKING mom to TWO. i just need a little help. (should i post this elsewhere on the board as well?) you know, just to spread the cheer a little..... thanks for any words of encouragment......sarah

Columbus:

I'm sorry you're feeling so down. It's so clear how much you want to be a mama to your babies, more than you could be if you worked outside your home all the time. And what a gift to be such a natural mother; I wish I could feel so motherly!

Are you part of the SAHM forum on MDC? I wonder if some mamas there can commisserate with you, or give you ideas about what you can do to SAH longer? Or maybe WAH? The frugality section on this board is a great resource for learning to conserve to help you out even a little bit if it's possible for you to cut back any more than you probably already have before coming to this kind of conclusion.

And, I totally don't want to downplay your emotions because your concerns are very valid and your feelings are real, however I know that when I'm pregnant I tend to feel my emotions more strongly than I did before. Has this been your experience in the past?

What options can you think of to either increase your income or decrease your expenses? I can imagine it must be hard enough to be a SAHM on your own all day every day, but what if your partner worked a second part-time job 2-3 evenings a week so that you could stay home? Or maybe you could find something that is 3 hours at a time on the weekends or evenings so that your partner could be home with the kids while you're away.
I know there are reasons against all of these suggestions, so it's really up to you to decide what you can and can't do.

:hug

Sarah, I wish I had something encouraging to say to you. This is all too new and exciting for me. I hope everything will turn out ok. In fact, I'm sure it will eventually. It's just the waiting for "eventually" to come that's hard.

Becky,
I hope your levels are going up, up, up! Keep us posted!

Thanks for thinking of me, Jeannine! My hcg on Tuesday was 700-something, I'll find out tomorrow what it's doing.

Sarah :hug I'm so sorry this is so stressful for you. The first time I was pregnant all I did between when I got my BFP and when I started miscarrying was worry my butt off. I was crying because I didn't think we could afford for me to be a SAHM, because my parents don't live anywhere nearby to offer support and help, because I really do like my job and what if I'm afraid to give it up, etc. I freaked out over everything. I wish I had some great words of wisdom for you to help you out right now, but I don't. For me, I'm not letting myself get ahead of things... I'm not even 5 weeks, the big stuff will still be there for me to worry about later. :hug I'm sorry, sweetie. How does your husband feel?

welcome, Jessie!

Wow! I must say I am still a bit surprised to find myself here. We were planning on #3 but not for another year or 2.

I am 32. Due sometime around the first week in September if I am guessing right. This is my 4th pregnancy. The first was ectopic and the 2nd and 3rd are my 2 beautiful boys.

The birth center where I birthed baby #2 closed so I don't know what my birth plan is. Dh actually suggested a homebirth but I don't think we can handle it financially. I absolutely do not want another hospital birth.

I can't button my pants. I thought it was holiday related. DS1 told me my belly is big because I have a baby in there and her name is Annie. We haven't told him about this pregnancy yet. No other symptoms.

I am really excited about this surprise. I don't feel any of the guilt I felt with my last pregnancy. I don't have the fear of the unknown I had with the first 2. This time around I know how incredibley hard it will all be but I am content. Maybe it hasn't really sunk in yet.

Sarah, I completely understand how you feel. I have a two year old and one on the way and I work out of the home part time. Even if we scaled and cut back everything we can't make it on one income. I grieved a long time about this BUT I have come to the conclusion that this is how I can help take care of our family. Fortunately dd does not go to daycare, her daddy stays home with her on the days that I work and he works extra late on the other days to make up his hours. I also work 8 hours from home (naps and before dd is up in the morning). It IS hard, it IS challenging, but if you have to, you can do it! Don't let other people bring you down because they feel that you "should" be at home with your children. You feel enough guilt on your own...you don't need other people to give you more. Good luck!

I am feeling nauseous nowadays <<sigh>> I don't remember this starting so soon.

Does anyone follow the Brewer/Bradley diet? It's really a lot of food and I don't need that much food quite yet. My last pg was complicated d/t pre-e and I really don't want to experience that EVER again!

Hi, there. Here are the two places that I have found this online: http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/ifyouarepregnant/index.shtml
http://www.bradleybirth.com/PD.aspx

My main issue right now is that I don't need all this food! I will gain WAY too much :lol Is it true that during the first trimester I don't have to eat extra calories, just during the second and third? I am mainly concerned b/c I am overweight and I don't want to overburden my body with unnecessary weight during my pregnancy. To be clear, I am not worried about gaining weight, just too much. Right now I am following the diet, but I am finding that I am eating when I am not hungry at all and sometimes I eat past comfort just to meet the guidelines. That's NOT healthy!

So...any advice, anyone?

Renée

I'm no expert but I'd definitely reiterate that it's not healthy to eat past your comfort level. I think one of the most important things to do is make sure everything you eat is nutritious, good quality food. And make sure you get enough protein.

I can tell you I followed the Bradley diet with my second pregnancy and not my first. With my first pregnancy I was MISERABLE. I gained only 35 pounds but I had a 58 inch belly and swelling and just ICKY! I was totally ready to have a preemie jsut to be out of misery (not really but you know the feeling). My second pregnancy I gined 50 pounds (I was heavy both times) but I felt glorious! I could have been pregnant for another 2 or 3 weeks (and Bryce was bron 2 days before his due date) I had no swelling I was still huge :lol but I felt awesome!!! My recovery was great, it was quick for a repeat c-section.

I'd follow it in a heartbeat again.

So is the purpose of the Bradley diet to feel good and not have excess swelling in your pregnancy?

Is it true that during the first trimester I don't have to eat extra calories, just during the second and third?
Correct. But even when its time to eat extra calories, its not that much, basically like an extra serving from each of the food groups.

So is the purpose of the Bradley diet to feel good and not have excess swelling in your pregnancy?

Not necesarily. It is to make sure you get plenty of protein which is supposed to help with delivery. It also gives you plenty of good stuff in your diet for you and the baby. There are a lot of nurtients in those foods. Yeah, you can get them from other sources but this way of eating makes sure you get them.

The added protein also gave me almost no nausea in the first trimester.

I think one of the reasons I healed so quickly with my second is because my body was healthy and had everything it needed to repair itself.

My weight came off really easy too. I was still carrying weight from my first when I got pg with my second.

Very interesting!!! Never knew about this!!! I have a question.... I can not drink milk or eat cheese becuase I am allergic to dairy. However, I drink rice milk, but definitely can't eat cheese.... can I still follow this? Also, just wondering if any one has heard that it is not good to use tums during pregnancy???? I get a lot of my calcium from those.

Mindi22
12-29-2006, 02:36 PM
Rachel,
I know that they say that Tums are a great source of calcium, but that is basically BS. Calcium is absorbed best in an acidic environment, and Tums are an antacid - ie, they reduce the amount of acid in your tummy. Basically, the calcium is in Tums just like they say, but almost none of it gets absorbed because of the form it is in. If you're looking for a calcium suppliment, try to find one that has calcium citrate... basically anything other than calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is the cheapest form of calcium available, and therefore in the most calcium suppliments. It's just also the form that is least absorbed by our bodies.

I know my MIL got a liquid calcium suppliment from Costco of all places that I believe was almost entirely calcium citrate - there may have been a few other forms of calcium, but none were calcium carbonate.

I hope this helps.

-Mindi

PS. You can still follow the diet. I disagree that dairy is an important ingredient in any diet, regardless of gestational state. There are too many people with dairy issues and there is too much crap in most dairy products to make them essential for anyone. So, if cow's milk is bad for you, maybe try some of the other products out there, I know there is goat's milk (which is almost bio-identical to human milk, or at least a lot closer than cow's milk), I've seen water buffalo yogurt, too). If you are lactose intolerant, I know that sometimes the other sources are different enough to not cause the same response that cow's products do.

We're joining the club for number two!! We are two moms, Megin and Katie (megincl and ktcl), who have a son, Quinn who is 3 1/2. We found out on Christmas Eve morning that we are indeed pregnant. It was so exciting because I had a major temperature dip on like day 13 after ovulation, so it seemed like that was it...I was about to get my period. And then the next day it was high again, but we didn't want to test for fear of jinxing it or something.

So september is the due date! Yipee! Congrats to all of you too!

Mindi22: Thank you for the great information!!! I really appreciate it!! Do you kno much about Vitmain D and if we could take too much? Rachel,
From everything I've read, it's pretty difficult to overdose on Vitamin D, especially since in general, Americans are pretty deficient in it. Dr. Mercola has an interesting article on it. I hope that helps. http://www.mercola.com/2003/dec/27/vitamin_d_quiz.htm

I agree with Mindi on dairy. I cannot drink milk (cheese is fine).

I thought, for some reason, that TUMS were linked to kidney stones.

I've actually resorted to TUMS the last few days because at this poitn I have heartburn from everything! including the TUMS!!

its_our_family,
I'd try to eat some things that are really soothing to the digestive tract, like miso soup, well cooked stew, and if you can tolerate it, aloe juice (though I've been told it tastes pretty horrid)... the miso soup especially is really good for healing the GI tract, and anything soft/well cooked will allow your body to rest and not have to do a whole lot for digesting it.

thanks so much for all the heartfelt replies. i am almost to where i am able to feel celebratory and not so worried. it's just that we realized we could NOT go another month without more money coming in, and i was just starting to really "research" and grieve leaving my son, and try to organize a whole new life for us when i had a new little life to worry about as well. i honestly NEVER EVER EVER thought i would feel any of these (negative!) emotions concerning any pregnancy or child..... and having to grieve that was a whole other source of guilt, concern and sadness. so thanks for letting me talk it out!
all the usual "solutions" don't work for us here- dh works ~9am to 11pm (so no second job there!), and cutting back any farther would have us moving in with our parents or something. i am not so worried about the "cost" of a newborn- just LEAVING a newborn, which i will certainly have to do unless we save up enough of a nest egg over the next nine months!
thanks again, and i promise i won't write again until i'm ready to just bask in the babyness! sarah

RachelS - Nursing is fine during pregnancy as long your pregnancy is "normal". I'm probably worrying for nothing!

My LP was super short the last two months (I just got AF back 2 months ago), and I think it was linked to the nursing, because it never was pre-DS. That's why I'm a little concerned. I'll rest so much easier once my midwives reassure me. :)

Sooooo, sorry to be a bummer to the rest of you (I always hated hearing/reading m/c stories when I was pg), but I am afraid that this is over for us. The midwife said to just let things happen. Hi all, I just got my BFP today(12/31/06) at 10DPO and am pretty excited!

My name is Kailia, DW is Heather

This is my 2nd pregnancy, 3rd child

I have 2 sons, Kesar is 2, Treyden is 1, My wife carried and birthed our older son, I had the younger.

I currently work part-time as a postpartum doula, supporting new moms in their role. I also am working as a labour doula, and attending a few births here and there as an apprenticing midwife.

This was my first true cycle since giving birth, I brought on my O with vitex and tried last ovulation with fresh sperm, but this cycle, we decided to just use the same donor(IUI/frozen sperm) as with our current sons and tried 3 times, once way too early, twice apparently right on the money. I am 10DPO today and since feeling a funny pain when coughing/laughing, I decided to test today, BFP came up quickly and clearly on 2 different tests. Same happened with my 1st pregnancy.

Fertility Friend puts my due date at September 13, 2007. I'm assuming I'll birth closer to Sept 20, 2007.

This will be my 2nd homebirth, my son Treyden was born in my bed last August, and this one will hopefully be too(or in the pool ;) ).

I don't think I'm having any symptoms yet...crampy, but that is the same that I had with ds, maybe emotional, but that could just be me!

Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Thank you for the welcome :) (I followed you over Rachel ;)) and Welcome to you AugustLia23! My son is an August baby too.

Congratulations and Welcome, Naturegirl. I am on progesterone, too. What kind are you taking?

I am taking Prometrium 100 mg orally until Tuesday and then I will be doing the suppositories. I couldn't get the suppositories since they were closed on Saturday and need to wait until Tuesday :rolleyes.

I was on the same suppositories, and then switched to the drops under the tongue, with ds.

How about you?

Hey everyone! I'm posting this cautiously, as I just got :+ today after 8 months of trying, at 12 dpo.

Name: Stacy

Number of preganancies: This is #4. I had a late m/c, then two girls 5 and 3 1/2.

EDD? September 11th. I told dh that and he told me we were NOT having a baby on Sept 11th. That would be preferable for me too. :o

Birth Plans: Man, you've got me there. My last birth was an unplanned, unassisted birth in our minivan on the side of the road. I think that if my last labor was 45 minutes long with an uncomplicated delivery, we should have this one at home. (Its my dream!) DH though is adamant that we will not be having a home birth. I am still going to meet with a midwife, though, and he has promised me he will meet with her at least once and then decide for sure. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because if I don't have a hb, I would most likely have to be induced, because even my very pro natural childbirth dr told me he wouldn't be comfortable doing a spontaneous labor with me.

Symptoms? Well, my nipples are a little bit sorer than normal, and I've been sleeping like a log with crazy vivid dreams. Other than that, I'm really, really nervous. Having had a loss before even though it was years ago, still is on my mind.

We're not telling anyone irl for a while, so of course I'm blabbing it all over the internet instead. :lol

Thank you for the welcomes - and welcome to so many others! So sorry to see people leaving already.

Also thank you for the book rec. My mother is a shopping fiend. After telling her the news today (and warning her about stickiness percentages), she went out and bought me a Winnie The Pooh blanket and a pregnancy top. This means two things: 1. It's time now to have the "what we really need and don't need / want" talk, and 2. Take advantage of her shopaholicness for once and request a good book! I heart Dr. Sears, will likely be checking out his and Martha's pregnancy book tomorrow.

ATD_Mom: Welcome!! You're still on the NYM (http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=585966) member roster. You should pop by and let them know the good news! They'll be thrilled!! You Mom sounds just like my MIL! We still haven't told any family yet. DH's folks will be so thrilled they'll buy us a whole designer nursery right off and my parents' responses will be...um...interesting. We want the holidays to pass before we tell them just in case things don't go well. My mom, thinks having children before thirty five is wasting the best years of your life...sigh. :(

On a slightly embarrassing note, I knew nothing of how to figure a due date. I honetly thought it was nine months from implantation, plus a little since it's the first baby! I found out otherwise last night and I'm actually due in very late Aug!! I'll stay here though as I'm betting on baby being late!

I am on 400 mg suppositories 2x a day. I started those the day I got a positive test, before that I was taking an OTC progesterone cream (without the doc's knowledge).
With dd, I was taking prometrium, but using them as a suppository, not taking them orally.
They have under the tongue drops?

Wow. That's a pretty strong dose isn't it? I think I am going to be on 200 mg suppositories 1-2x per day. There definately are drops (sublingual). I took them with ds. I can't remember why we switched from suppositories but I think it was because my prog. levels weren't going up like we wanted and the drops seemed to work best for me.

I am so thrilled to be preggo again! We've been trying since dd turned one, although in retrospect, I dont think I was really fertile until she was at least 18 months old. I think the 3.5 y age differnence will be perfect for our family, though. Yay! I am so happy :)

I'm a little freaked since I am working on my Masters and am supposed to do my field ed this fall. This was a big suprise. The first test I took in the after noon had a line so faint I didn't think it was a line so I retested the next morning and it was negative. I retested with a more expensive test New Years Eve (since I have never been late unless I was Pg and the plus sign was dark before the urine even got to the control window. We haven't told anyone yet and we are waiting a bit, but we wont be able to wait for long as I am already popping out (Yes, at 5 weeks! Isnt that pathetic?) I already have maternity jeans on. Ugh! Oh, I am nursing the 33 mo old and have been nursing or pregnant since DD14, I have tandem nursed almost everytime and once for a short while had 3 nursing. I'd love to do cloth dipes this time (I have tons of fabric and patterns and a snap press) but DH is not so keen on that. If there's anything I missed, just ask.

Has anyone had any kind of watery (sorry, tmi) cm before they got their bfp?
I am on cd29 (af was a no show today so far!!), and for the last 5 days I have had a sort of wet feeling "down there", with lots of water cm. When I checked my cp today, it was very high and medium. I don't want to get my hopes up, but has anyone had that at all?

I'm terrified of a miscarriage... is this normal? I'm trying to think only happy thoughts, only happy thoughts...

If it's not, then I'm abnormal too! I'm quite worried myself as well. Now, due to a recent incident and resulting early u/s, I'm also worried about a chemical pregnancy. Though, I likely have nothing to worry about-it's likely that it was too early to see a fetal pole. Can't stop worrying though.

M/C in 2003, fabulous baby girl in Sept 2004 :o
I think I'd like a natural birth as I planned with my daughter, but ended up with a c-section...that was actually okay, too, but might like more of a natural birth experience. ALthough I will say here in Mexico a hospital birth doesn't suffer from so many of the negatives of a US hospital birth.

Symptoms: Not yet, really. I guess I have been going to the bathroom more lately.

Thank you everyone. I am feeling better today, emotionally. Physically, I feel pretty much the same. I don't think that it's strange to worry about having a mc. It's totally normal to feel that way and it's very common to have them. I have never had one before, to my knowledge, so I was not at all worrying about it which is why it was such a shock. I never thought it would happen to me. As it turns out, it wouldn't have been the best time anyway to be having a baby, so we'll try again when the time is really right. Ok, so no more spotting today which is great. Saw my chiro today and she is only the second person we've told. I figured I had to tell her and it was soooo nice to tell someone. We are painfully waiting a few more weeks to tell family, etc.
However, the day went slowly down hill. My first day of every pregnancy sign all at once, most of the day. On the way to the chiro, already having a slight headache and slightly nauseous, the exhaust system to my car fell apart. After the appointment I took it into the shop, the whole thing needed to be replaced. I walked home, not a bad walk normally, but hungry and still quizzy. Later, after dropping a ton of money on a credit card for the car fix, DH and I decided to order out. The order came, half of it was wrong. So I called and the person I was speeking with was misunderstanding what I was saying, i was loosing my patients but trying to be cool, DH is trying to take the phone from me, I waved him away. Just a note: I'm not usually pleasant when I'm too hungry. I think the pregnancy has kicked that up a notch. Anyhow, DH tells me he would have handled it differently. I blew up :splat telling him he had no idea how or what I was feeling, that I tried to be as pleasant as possible, etc. I'm just so :hopmad
Doesn't he get it?:bang Unexpectedly, I've had to quit smoking cold turkey (I was working on it), give up my couple of glasses of red wine, can't keep my eyes open past 9pm, pee every 30 mins, you know what I mean. Please, don't get me wrong, all for good cause, I'm just a bit overwhelmed today. DH and I kissed and :Hug but I'm not sure he's putting it all together. It's all good (and now that I've had some food... ) but I just hope I don't loose myself like that and I also hope DH won't pick on me.
Anyhow, sorry to bore you if you got this far. I guess the only point I had was to vent. Thank you so much.

So sorry you had such a bad day - all those symptoms at once! I can't imagine trying to quit smoking at the same time. I watched my stepmother try to quit (while not pregnant) and she was just ... well, she wasn't very pleasant. I felt so badly for her at the time; just couldn't control her emotions. Birthplans: Have not even thought about it...Just want to get through first three months.
Current Symptoms: slight cramping, lots of gas, tired, skin break out initially but that has cleared, sore boobs

So glad that you created this thread!

Stacey, it'll get way more confusing ;) Add an US into the mix and the fact that EDDs are a work of fiction anyhow and you have great fun.
nikkihoi, I'm so sorry your day was so bad- but you're doing so well giving up smoking.

Stacey - My first was "due" on Sept 27th and I spent my entire pregnancy focusing on that single day. Then, what do you know, I go into labor naturally on Sept 7th, he's born on Sept 8th and he was normal, average weight and everything.

flapjack and Maylea_moon I am preparing myself for a ride as I know hardly anything about this pregnancy thing!! :dizzy:

I have a TMI question: This morning I woke up with really intense stomach pain, and ran to the bathroom. I ended up going to the bathroom painfully but felt better immediately afterward. My husband was saying that something intestinal was going around his work. He had it yesterday but felt better after going to the bathroom several times. I feel much better and have had no bleeding or anything. Do you think this was just a bug of some sort?? DH thinks I am being very paranoid but this is my first time so I don't know what to think??

I appreciate your help with this.

Yes. :gloomy:
I have the eternal flu. :fever: But it's pregnancy, not the flu.

It sucks so much. Life is going on even though I'm incapacitated. My house is falling apart, my kids are eating prepackaged (though organic and additive-free) food, and I've been going to bed on average at 7pm, which is before my children. I hope this gets better soon.

Becky: you are so lucky!!! :)

Melissa: I feel you!!! I am an organization freak and I also cook almost all our meals.... well not so much right now!!... things are not so easy for me either.... I am so sorry that you are going through this as well.... HOWEVER..... there is a wonderful little blessing at the end of the tunnel!!! It makes it all worth it! :)

Rachel, this is a DDC. The reason it exists is so you can ask that kind of question and not embarrass yourself somewhere that will get 10 million hits a day, like TAO. And to answer the question, yes, I get profuse flows of vaginal and cervical goop during pregnancy too, but I haven't noticed it yet, actually. Very odd. (And the dog goes rooting through the laundry basket for my underwear during pregnancy, too. Nice, huh?)
I'm not that tired either. Sick as a dog and I have pregnancy rhinitis, but I can stay awake. Weird, huh?

RachelS I also have a ton of CM, it's a little strange. This is my first pregnancy so I'm watching myself like a hawk. I don't have too many symptoms, my BBs have gotten bigger and are sore. And I'm salivating more which in my mind triggers thoughts of good food.

One thing that I noticed yesterday, I was on some emotional rollercoaster, one moment laughing and loving my DH next crying and wondering if we should even have kids together. That for me is STRANGE, I'm usually pretty stable :lol. I even noticed it myself yesterday and so I'd be feeling like crying but catch how ridiculous I was acting and start laughing. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? I've got a pretty bad cold so maybe that's affecting me too. Oh and I'm tired... my house is in desperate need of some cleaning but I just can't be bothered.

Thank you flapjack and hazieluna for your words!! :) Flapjack....:lol your message made me laugh.... very funny!!! :) hazieluna... I am very emotional too!! Everything makes me cry! And I usually do not cry very much! I definitely was not like this with ds.

Thank you again ladies!!! :)

hazieluna, I was like that last time. What takes the edge off it for me is supplementing with omega-3s: if you think about it, you're growing the brain of a mini-genius, plus supporting your own. That can take a lot out of you.
(the old wives tale says that if you're weepy and emotional it's a girl, btw.)
Anyone not having sore boobs? DD is still nursing, though I'm trying to persuade her to nightwean and my girls are still much as they ever are.

Welcome Diane! I had my son early too and figure this one will probably be also.

Excessive cm...I think your body produces more mucous to create the mucous plug at this stage, so it is very common to be "gooey" down there. ;) I think I am too but it is hard to tell because I am taking prog suppositories and those are gooey themselves. :o

flapjack, I do not have sore boobs either. I have a pretty frequent nurser and so far his nursing hasn't bothered me at all. (Other than wondering if everything is okay because they AREN'T sore!) In fact he is nursing right now.:toddler:

I remember being more emotional with ds. This time I just get ticked off easier.

I'm not sore, either. (Sometimes I think I must have nipples of steel.) And I'm not bigger either. I don't get bigger when pregnant, I don't get bigger when nursing, and apparently I don't get bigger when nursing and pregnant.
Naturegirl, I totally understand about wondering if everything's ok since they're not sore! I'm in that boat, too!!

I'm not really sore either:) My dd still nurses as her main sustenance so she nurses a lot! I seem to be a little more sore, but I think its because she is teething and her latch is gettig lazy:dizzy:

Hi Mamas!! I'm Resa, I just got the BFP Friday night, so I guess I'm a bit behind... Great to meet you all though!

Name: Resa
Age: 31
Previous Pregnancies: just 2 I have Delaney who's 5 and Brenna who's 2
Due Date: September 9
Birth Plans:Praying for a beautiful VBAC
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Current Symptoms: Oh please, please, no nausea this time, please! so far so good!

I'm A WAHM, I babysit a 17 month old little boy M-F, and will be adding one more in Feb. She'll be 5 months old. I'm gonna have my hands VERY full!

Dh and I have been together 12 years, married 10 1/2. He's a computer guy. I used to be a jury clerk for the federal courts before I had Delaney. Now I homeschool her, do all the other mom stuff all day, babysit the little guy, and try to sew. Oh, and occasionally manage to slip in a little computer time! LOL

I'm plus sized, have lost weight throughout 2006, and recently started a 85% raw food lifestyle. I'm anxious to see what lies ahead with that while pg!

I think that's it for now!

Nice to meet you all!

Hi mamas! Is it too late to check in? :D

Here's my info:

Name: Megan
Age: 29
Previous Pregnancies: 1 - DD Dacey turns two at the end of this month
Due Date: September 11
Birth Plans: No idea yet - I really want a VBAC and have just started doing my research
Location: San Marcos, TX
Current Symptoms: exhausted (could just be life with a toddler? LOL), nausea, crampy

I am a SAHM who used to teach high school English in my life before Dacey. I am thrilled to have just gotten a BFP after our first month of trying. It took us the better part of a year to get preggo with Dacey, so we are both still quite in shock.

With my first pregnancy, I was part of a more "mainstream" birth club. My life and philosophies have changed drastically since then, so I look forward to learning more about natural pregnancy and natural childbirth from everyone here!

I am still nursing my toddler. I need to get on the ball with eating a lot more consistently. I am really excited to be pregnant and hoping this baby sticks around.

Second Pregnancy, I have a 16 month old dd
Due Date: September 14 i think
Birth Plans: will have to be a repeat c/s -- dd was transverse and then had the cord around her neck such that they had to do a j-incision to get her out
Location: Colorado (digging out from all the snow)
Current Symptoms: utter panic (i didn't think i o'ed last cycle), a lot of shock :lol and my nipples are killing me, but that could also be because dd is getting 3 molars and an eye tooth at once and is nursing a ton

Age: 37
Previous Pregnancies: 2--resulting in 2 DDs, ages 8.5 and almost 2
Due Date: EDD is September 9th
Birth Plans: I want a natural homebirth as my 1st 2 were either OK or bad experiences in hospitals...
Location: Detroit Michigan
Current Symptoms: extreme fatigue, feeling "blah"

I'm am a SAHM who also homeschools. I still nurse my youngest and co-sleep, too. Not sure how we are going to go about everything... it was so easy with DD2 pregnancy as DD1 was so self-sufficient and independent. I literally slept through the 1st trimester but DD1 was old enough to "fend" for herself... however am I going to stay awake to care for DD2???

We're excited though.. well I am... DH is gone on a business trip so he has no idea... :)

Age: 32
Previous Pregnancies: 2--resulting in 1 DS (3/04), and 1 M/C 10/06
Due Date: mid September
Birth Plans: Either birthing center or HB, first pregnancy was unmedicated birth at birthing center.
Location: just moved to Chapel Hill, NC from California
Current Symptoms: Tiredness, bloating, little uterus and breast "twinges", gas.

Mommas, I am so VERY happy to be here. It took a while for my body to get pregnant after bfing my DS for his first 2 years. Then, when I had an early miscarriage, we were so very disappointed. I became pregnant after my first cycle following the miscarriage. I'm grateful it happened quickly.

I took 3 pregnancy tests this past weekend with faint, faint lines. It was only after confirming it with a midwife today that I am feeling better. I am going to work really hard to stay positive, but I really can't wait to get through my first trimester. I almost hope for morning sickness like my first pregnancy as a source of confirmation that all is well.

Best of wishes to everyone, and congratulations!!

Debra, I'll be happy to send you my morning sickness! This morning my whole family gathered in the bathroom. Me puking, my hubby asking me if I wanted water and Abby asking, "Mommy burping in the potty?" It was a party!

See, I'm due late August/early September, but using the 14th as a due date to keep me positive. Last time round I gave up counting the days to my due date and started counting days till Christmas instead: because Christmas, unlike my babies, always comes when you expect it.
