Is anyone obsessing about this so early on like me?

If we have a boy the top contender is Alexander. We'd call him Xander.

I'm not so sure about the girl's name. My dh and I have a hard time agreeing. He doesn't really want to think about it until the end of my pregnancy anyway. He's no fun!

We didn't find out if DS was a boy or a girl, so we had a boy and girl name. Only one girl name, we would name a girl after DH's late mother. And we had several boy names that we liked, so either way we are good to go for this baby!

Alexander is a great name! It's DS's middle name. :D

For a boy we like Logan James (James is for my maternal grandfather and my paternal grandmother). For a girl I have a bunch of names I really like but DH has vetoed all of them. Our girl name when we were pg with DS is out - I know at least 3 little girls with the name and it's become realllllly popular!

grrr, DH always shoots down my names!

The only girl names he's OK with right now is: Ella, and Delaney, oh and Kira.

As for boys, I LOVE Corbin, but DH isn't thrilled w/it. He likes Liam.

Who knows what we'll agree on :dizzy:

We consider naming a very important and very fun job. It's most important to us that our kids don't have 'common' names, or anything in the top 100 at least. We really love the boy name Simon, but it's on the top 10 lists in Scandinavian countries, and while it's about 250 on the list here, it's gaining in popularity. We like Ignacia for a girl, but it's not set in stone. I like a lot of names that DP doesn't like, such as: Oscar, Finnegan, Imogen, and more.

Hello, my s/o and I tossed names back and forth in the Freightliner like a beach ball... from old to new and foreign. I started the name game just about as soon as the test screamed 'positive' at us. We played 'name vollyball' until our 5 month.... at least for the first name... Serenity. Now the middle has taken a little more time. I really liked "grace" and Terry liked "Angelita" which using Angelita will make her initials S A D. Still punting to put a hyphen and add the grace but I don't think there is a chance. Terry heard of Angelita after I was told to get out of the truck due to health issues.... and he really likes the translation... 'peaceful little angel'. (roughly)

This is fun!! Great reading what you other ladies are thinking/doing!!

Well... I have already thought about names!! It helps me when I mediate on a strong and healthy pregnancy and baby!! :) Also we name our children after a family relative. My son's name is Alexander William.... and we were thinking if we have another boy.. Jacob Christopher or if we have a girl..... Kaitlyn Elizabeth. :)

Just my thoughts!! :)

Good luck ladies! :)

We don't tell anyone IRL. With ds, we were thinking "Jared" and mentioned it to my parents. They decided that's what they were going to call him, even though we were just thinking about it. Well, we abandoned Jared because of that, and have kept our mouths shut since. With dd, we asked a couple of aquaintances "how would you spell this?" or "how would you pronounce this?", but I generally don't tell. And if someone tells me what they're thinking, I never say "oh, I knew a so-and-so and she was such a b----!" Seems people were always saying that to me with ds.
I looked on a baby name website last night. got through the d's, and....nothing. (Was only looking at boy names.) We have such a hard time with boy names.

LOL, we kept our name for our first a secret too...With the 2nd I think we told some people, and didn't tell others, with this one, for a girl we like Nevaeh and Anjalie for a boy we like Romy and Nasir...nothing's set in stone yet. I liked Nasir for DS#2 before I found out for sure that he was a boy, once I know he was, Nasir just didn't fit him...

We don't tell anyone IRL our name choices, and we don't find out the sex ahead of time either. We had both names picked out but have changed our minds recently. On our trip out of town this weekend we discussed.

Top contenders for a girl are: Autumn, Ariel and Amber

Top contenders for a boy are: Adam, Aaron, Maxwell and Oliver

We also have a middle name list for each, but that gets more complicated.

DS was named completely for family, so this time we are just picking names we like. It's fun :)

If it's a girl, I'm pretty sure her name will be Autumn. So appropriate with a September babe.

Is anyone worried about agreeing on a name with their DP? I brought the topic up yesterday and my DH is first of all just not that interested and then after some urging his suggestions were terrible! Oh no I think he has awful taste! But only in names, :lol!

We're in a bit of a hard spot because the name would preferably be pronounceable in all our languages - that's 4. And can I mention that I like names that are not so common.

I guess we have 9 months to come to some sort of agreement and hopefully one that suits our baby too.

Anyway just thought I'd share my anxiety. Oh btw I like the name Liliana for a girl and Kaedon for a boy. And my feeling is that since I'm carrying the baby my opinion should count more, right? I just don't want to name my baby Jan as his family expects us to or Jana for a girl....

We have a hard time agreeing as well.

My dh puts a lot of emphasis on the meaning of the name and that can make things hard.

Even though my dh doesn't show much interest this early on, I'm still badgering him with names. I like the name Liliana a lot too. And Lydia (or maybe Lidia).

I always feel like my opinion should count more too. DH has never much cared for that argument! :lol

Yes! We totally have this problem. We have very different tastes in names, so we do a lot of back and forth.

LOL.. I posted this yesterday in the Aug DDC on our name thread...

Well, we were pregnant over the summer, so we thought up some names then that we didn't get to use, and I think are still on our short list.

For a boy, my favorite (God, I'm almost hoping for a boy to use this name!!!) is Alexander (nickname Xander) Zachary (I just love the aliteration of Xander Zachary.... how much fun will that be to shout across the house???). We are pretty open as far as middle names go for a boy, since we used Arthur for DS, and that was the only family name that we found that <a>ran in both families and <b>we both liked and could agree on.

we didnt decide on our dd's name until almost the very end.

DH doesnt even want to talk about this ones name yet....

I like Adrienne or Allison, both of which were on the short list last time.
We never did come up with a definitive boy name last time, but both of us feel strongly that we are only having girls...so....

We didn't tell anyone IRL our daughters' name until after she arrived - Dacey Allyse.

For this one, if it's a boy (which I *think* it is!) he will be Mack Edward (both family names).

If it is a girl - sheesh! We are in trouble! We could just barely agree on Dacey. We would each write lists and we both hated the names on the other ones' list. I just really, really hope it's a boy! :D

Well, last time we thought we were definitely having a boy so we had the name "Joshua Michael" picked out. We had a very hard time coming up with a girl's name last time around.

So if this little one is a boy, it will be that but if the little one is a girl, I have no earthly idea!! :lol

It's weird actually, other people already have "our" names picked out. A boy will be Logan Douglas, which was our boys name for Skye. A girl will probably be Willow- we were thinking about Autumn as a middle name though.
We told people our name choices last time, and my ex named his son Joshua Logan :( It still bugs me- just a tiny bit.

Love all the names you have picked out!

I'm currently loving Audrey/Aubrey for a girl, and maybe Aaron for a boy. Boy names are really hard for me - there just aren't very many I like that haven't already been used by someone in the family. But I have a ton of girls names I love!

My husband is Portuguese, so I felt it is important that we name our children Portuguese names. We don't live near my in-laws and all their Portuguese friends, so I thought it would help our kids feel connected to a culture that's very important to their father's family.

My DS's name is Diogo Victor (Victor after my grandfather). I felt SOOOO sure about my boy name with my first, so it was great when he was born to learn we were having a boy. I love the name Diogo, and all his little friends call him "go-go"- he will be three late March.

This time I can't find a boy name I like, but we have a girl name! I hope that means we are having a girl. Mara Floriana (Floriana after my husband's grandmother). I also like the name Sofia, but that is so popular right now. As for a boys name, maybe Xavier?

What will we ever do when its time for a third. It is tough to pick out a Portuguese names that my family can pronounce:-)

I was obsessed last time and it was the first thing I started researching, even before midwives!

This time I have a feeling I'll be more laid back about it and everything else for that matter... I have so much going on right now I'd like to save thinking about that for this summer when I have some real relaxed time to think about it. We don't plan to find out the sex either so that makes twice the work!

We haven't thought much about names yet. Have plenty of time to decide. Although I love the name Ryder! I also like the name Wyatt for a boy but with my DH's country slang it sounds like he is saying the color "white", so that won't work. So I have the following names I like:

Boy:

Ryder
Wyatt
Carter
Adam
Josiah

Girl:

Abby
Emma
Olivia
Rebekah

Although I am leaning more biblical since our 4yr old is Noah & 2yr old is Jonathon.

we also keep our names a secret.

We had Micah Breckenridge (goes by Breck) and Jordyn Justine (our loss) picked out while we were dating...

We have NO clue this time. We also won't find out the sex early, so we have awhile. DH has a name he wants for a boy, but I am refusing. So we have to keep looking.

For those looking, I LOVE Isaac, which means "laughter" but DH hates it, so feel free to grab it. :)

Hi all! I love reading all of your name ideas.... and it's amazing that there don't seem to be too many doubles yet.

I've been a total grump to my husband about the fact that we agreed to name our first son after his family line. All the 1st sons in his family are Roberts with a "C" initial middle name.... His name is Robert Clayton, which I do like a lot. What I hate is "Bob and Bobby" which is what everyone in the fam will call our son. Just too plain and ordinary for me. At least we get to be creative with a middle name. I think we'll either stick wth Clayton, or go with Caleb or Carson.

For girls, right now we are really loving Ruby or Maisie and having fun coming up with good middle name matches. Feel free to comment! :)

We decided on names before we even started ttc!:lol

Girl: Sadie Madeleine (hopefully I can add Luna, or Norah -- Norah was my maternal grandmother, Madeline was my DP's middle name & grandmother's name -- when his name got changed, we said it'd be our daughter's middle name, with an added "e")
Boy: Justin Andrew Ingvar (Andrew, from my DP's family, Ingvar for my grandfather that passed last October)

There are other names floating around too, so we'll see what we end up with!

For a boy it's Luke Evan, for a girl Annabelle Katherine. DD is really wanting it to be Annabelle. I hope she's not disappointed!

DP and I have had so much fun discussing names. So far, for a girl the contenders are: Anneke, Dara, and Solana. For a boy: Rowan, Curran, Thane.

Middle names?? It's hard enough picking FIRST names. We'll probably go with family names to honor those who have recently passed away.

My grandmother's maiden name is Curren so I have a cousin named Alexia Curren, but I really like it as a boy's name!

We have been talking about baby names for the 5 years that we've been together! For a boy, it will almost definitely be Ezekiel Steven (Steven after my dad who has 4 daughters and 3 sisters!) If, as dh suspects and my niece is predicting, it is twins, we also like Jonas William for a boy.

For a girl, we love Ezri Mae (Mae the middle name of my grandmother and 2 great-grandmothers). We also both like Georgianna after dh's grandmother who passed away 3 years ago. How cute to have a little girl we could call "George"! :love

So here's a question: What have/will you all say to people who have something negative to say about the names you pick???

We've had our first names picked out for a while but we're keeping them a secret. Sorry. Is anyone else doing this or am I the only one?
The real names are a huge secret! No one but me and DH will know. When people begin to ask about our name choices, we're going to answer consistently, "Wayne for a boy, Barbara for a girl." Because those are just about as far away as you could get from names we would choose (no offense meant to anyone who digs them - I have lovely relatives with these names).

If it's a girl, we plan to name her after my father's mother. I can't imagine telling him ahead of time, it will ruin the surprise!

Do any of you go by your middle name? Or know someone who does? We're considering using my Granny's full name, but having the babe go by the middle name (for example, Hetta Jane going by simply Jane). I'm wondering if this will cause confusion her whole life, though?

I am neither pregnant nor TTC and I already have several names picked out although we aren't going to decide on anything until we have seen her/him.

Girls:
Olivia
Bailey
Alexandra

Boys:
Jack
Alexander
Max (This is actually my favorite, but my fiance hates it. However, I said that if I have triplet boys that one WILL be called Max. He agreed that he wouldn't feel right telling a woman who birthed triplets that one couldn't be called Max).

Two of my siblings do. My sister Rebecca Brooke goes by Brooke and my brother Arnold Paul goes by Paul.

The only confusion caused is when my brother put his filled out some paperwork incorrectly on some official things so now in his work place he must go by Arnold instead of Paul...but in his social life he's Paul.
