Wheee!I found a tribe!!!
I have two tattoos, a sun on my ankle and pawprints (of my two cats) on my lower back.
I have my nose, ears, bellybutton, tongue and clitoral hood pierced. I was gonna get my nippes done but I may wait until after this pregnancy and BFing...

I haven't done anything yet, still researching the piercings. And I'm thinking about stretching my regular ear piercings I've had for ages. I have only worn ear wires for years so I'm guessing that is a 20 gauge from everything I've read. I've never stretched anything before, is it true I should stretch to an 18 gauge and then put in earrings that size and wait a month or so before going bigger? I don't want to stretch alot total anyway.
But now I'm leaning towards a bettie page pin up on the outside of my calf about 8-10 inches I think. I still need to work out what clothing I want her in and what props I want her to have.

I needed to brag about 18yo dd's birthday tat, which she got today. She kept changing her mind between a lower back piece and an armband and finally settled on the rose-and-thorn armband that we both like, so part of her present was my promise that i would NOT get one because matching mother-daughter tats would be just too cutesy.
She wanted five roses, which was what I would have chosen, and for some reason I knew which arm it was going on before she told the artist.
She was not prepared for the pain, but the way she handled it was just beautiful. It was like a little glimpse into the future watching her face and imagining her birthing and I'd never really thought about being present at the birth of my first grandchild but now I so hope that she will want me there.
It seems odd to say that watching my child handle pain was beautiful, but it was.
I had to leave for work before the tat was finished but I thanked her for letting me be there and accepting an eighteenth birthday present that will be a part of her forever.

Im in!! Ive got 8 tattoos and 4gauge earring holes. My tattoos are:
Lower back - ohm coming out of a lotus flower in smoke (make sense? lol, I cant really xplain it!)
Shoulderblade - a butterfly
Back of each upper arm - nautical stars
lower left arm - uh...2 sparrows, ones good with a halo and nice wings, the other is evil with batlike wings and horns, a cartoonish boy skull with a big cherry blossom behind it, and a large dagger through a girl cartoon skull with pigtails. lol, they look better than they sound! All in color. Luckily I took my nipple piercings out a few months ago!

I've got my nose pierced and a small tattoo on my left breast of a shamrock/heart.
I want to get another tattoo and DH and I have considered some kind of marriage/unity tattoo. Anyone have any ideas? We're totally into Japanese waves, fish, asian designs. I've also considered the snake eating its tail...

Im in again :lol I jumped on here awhile back and never kept up, so back again. I have 5 tattoos (one's a coverup) A "Coop" Devil on my left outer ankle, a tribal on my lower back (gonna add roses in color to it soon), sun w/ a yin/yang symbol in the middle on my right upper shoulder blade, and a dream catcher w/ a bear claw (one of my totem animal guardians) in the middle. The Coop Devil is a cover up of a cow skull w/ an arrow and a tomahawk criss crossed behind it in black n wht. Can you tell I went thru a little native american theme phase. :lol
Im currently thinking of getting the dreamcatcher one covered w/ a Bettie Pin up. Can't decide which one I like, although her in this pirate costume (http://cgi.ebay.com/Sgnd-Olivia-BETTIE-PAGE-PIRATE-TREASURE-ROGUE-PinUp-MOP_W0QQitemZ120092499290QQcategoryZ4948QQrdZ1QQss PageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting)rocks ! i figure I can hide the dream catcher in her hair as its very light. Got it over 15 years ago. My tattoo will be 2 cherries on a stem on top of my right foot. Im definetly sticking w/ only traditional 50's/Sailor/Traditional themes and religious tattoo's from now on. I don't my body to be a mish mash of themes yk?
But now I'm leaning towards a bettie page pin up on the outside of my calf about 8-10 inches I think. I still need to work out what clothing I want her in and what props I want her to have.
That sounds awesome! Besides the above mentioned pirate Bettie, I also like the Dominatrix Bettie w/ her riding crop. Thats gonna be a great tat!
It seems odd to say that watching my child handle pain was beautiful, but it was.
Not odd at all. :wink I totally understand. What a neat experience to share with your daughter. The glimpse of her giving birth gave me the goose bumps. Thats awesome!

Do the Betty Pirate!!! I LOVE IT!!! I wish I could get a pinup. It's just not...me... I guess. I am just not feeling it for me. I LOVE them though. I would totally get that one if I were you. I know about the mis-mash thing. I am trying to stick with the theme of birds/trees/nature, etc...but I think the traditional and 50's theme- especially cherries and pinups are hot.

REALLY?!?! I like the 6-point stars in the pic. I think 6 point look softer, more feminine. Am I wrong?

Hi! I'm not on MDC much but I was researching VCH piercings and google directed me here. :)
I currently have 2 tattoos (a tribal dolphin on my left ankle which was a statement of independence after I got married; a Celtic mother's heart below the nape of my neck in remembrance of the baby I miscarried), normal ear piercings, and a small stud in my left nostril that I've had for about a year now. I used to have my navel pierced... but fluffy belly doesn't go well with a navel ring and I took it out after 6 months because it wasn't healing properly. When I get down to my goal weight I will have it redone. The nice thing about my pregnancies, though, is that the scar has reduced significantly during my pregnancies so that it's not as noticeable anymore that I had a navel piercing.
The VCH... well, that's a new one. Never considered genital piercings before but I came across a thread on another board and now I'm intrigued. But I'm also 32 weeks pregnant and I guess I can't get it done now, huh? I noticed some of you mentioned no piercings while BFing...why is that? Just curious because it could be a while then until I can get this done.
I also want another tattoo on my lower back, but not until I'm done having kids. I want that one to be in honor of them.
No tattoos or piercings during pregnancy because your immune system is weaker, and it would take longer to heal which could lead to higher infection risk. I don't think there's a problem while nursing as long as you go to a clean and reputable piercer or tattooer.

Isn't it cool!! I would get it today if we had the money! Im starting w/ the cherries cuz I can get those cheaper. Plus Im gonna do some other small ones (the blue/red roses, kinda like this w/ no lotus (http://www.prickmag.net/sarahmpic25.html)at my current tribal on small of my back) while I save up $$ for the big Bettie Pirate. She would be on my back on the left side w/ her hair/hat covering the dreamcatcher on my left shoulder blade and coming down my left side. Im sooo stoked to get this tattoo!!!

I got tattoo'd when I was pregnant, but I wasn't showing or anything. I didn't have any healing issues. I think they just limit it out of paranoia and as a CYA thing.
and yeah that pirate is awesome!
I think they just limit it out of paranoia and as a CYA thing.
I wouldn't say paranoia. It is a genuine concern. Most preg. women will not have problems, but there are quite a few who will. It's not worth the risk. Tattooing and piercing is my dear brother's bread & butter and it's tough to carve out a living doing it. (excuse the pun) and he genuinely does care about the people who sit in his chair. I am totally behind tattooers and piercers who feel they should cover their a**es because they work on a commission and it can be tough. They need to protect themselves- and their clients. It is always better to wait than to take any chances.

:yeah:
my SO is a tattoo artist. if someone got tattooed by him and lied on their release form that they weren't pregnant and something happened they could sue him. most women's immune systems are not at top speed during pregnancy, which means it would be harder to heal a tattoo which means they would probably need a touch-up which he would have to do for free (and pay for materials out of pocket).
Hey, Melody- you're in Dallas! I'm not far from you. Kule.

FTR I didn't lie on my release form, I had had numerous negative pg tests so I didn't think I was pg. Low and behold I was.

I can definitely wait until the baby comes. I totally understand the concerns about healing and I've read articles that explicitly said you're best not to have your navel or genitalia pierced while pregnant because those are areas that change with pregnancy (and therefore there could be healing and placement issues later). I was really just wondering about what I read about no piercing while nursing either. I mean, if you go to a reputable establishment, the risk of hep. and other nasties should be nil. Maybe there's a myth of heightened pain? Like those who say it hurts more to get waxed while pregnant? I don't know... I think it's a good idea to have to think about it for the next 8 or so weeks so I don't rush into anything, I would just hate to have to wait the next couple of years. Especially since we'll probably be TTC again once the baby on the way is around 1 year old.
And yes, I agree that any tattoo artist/piercer who is concerned enough to at least cover their butt even though it cuts into profit is one I'd want to give my business to.
FTR I didn't lie on my release form, I had had numerous negative pg tests so I didn't think I was pg. Low and behold I was.
I don't think anyone meant to imply that you lied. The op said she knew she was pregnant. (and the question was tech. about piercings- which take longer to heal) I was about 8 days pregnant with ds when I last got tattooed. I had NO idea. I healed up well, but I did have a little scarring and flaking that I had not had when tattooed before. Here's a picture (http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l18/zlee1976/Photo245.jpg) so you can see what I mean.
I am going to have it touched up when I go in for my next one.

Hi everyone!
My name is Dayna Martin. I am a long-time Mothering member. LLL Leader, Doula, Natural Birthing Advocate and Educator. I am in the process of writing a book about Birth called "Birth Rocks". This book is a manual geared toward couples and has a unique flair to it, which is all my own.
I am looking for pictures to include in the book of couples with Tattoos and piercings, and Dads with long hair, or a "rough-edge" look supporting Mom through pregnancy, labor and birth. Myself and the publisher have a very specific vision. Some things we are also looking for are photos of a close up of a pregnant Moms belly who has a naval-ring or pregnant Moms with tattoos. I think you probably get the idea that I am looking for cool photos having to do with pregnancy and birth for a book entitled "Birth Rocks".
So! Any wild and crazy couples who would like to be part of this book in photos, please email me your photos and descriptions to include and I will be in touch as to whether they were accepted for publication.
Thank you so much everyone!

Hey all,
This is my first post here, I just found this site and have lurked for a few weeks and like what I have read.
Okay, my peircing ? I have had my nose peirced 4 times before, but alas I must have an allergy to the metal. However, I LOVE the look of them, so if you all can give me some advice on what material would be better for me to try I would really appreciate it.
TIA
Perhaps you should contact a piercer. They would be able to tell you your options.

not just any studio--there is a LOT of piercers and a LOT of jewelry out there and the majority of it is crap. soooooooo, if you can find an APP studio (Association of Professional Piercers), you will find the highest quality jewelry there as membership requires a very strict standard of quality. find a studio here and read about jewelry material as well:
www.safepiercing.org
from the site:
Jewelry: Materials
Acceptable materials for wear in body piercings include:
* High quality surgical implant grade stainless
steel (specifically 316LVM ASTM F-138)
* Niobium
* Titanium (specifically Ti6A4V ELI, ASTM F-136)
* Solid 14k or 18k white or yellow gold
Good luck to you!

Hi Everyone!
My name is Nicole and I just moved up to Humboldt county from Fresno. Does anyone on this thread happen to be from Humboldt? If so, can you recommend a good tattoo/piercing studio in the area?
Oh by the way: I have no artwork yet (every time I find something I like I can't get it because i am PG or nursing). I Used to have my belly button and both nipples pierced, but I took them out when I found out I was expecting DD #1. I do still have my tongue and both ears done, though. And I LOOOOVE my tattooed/pierced/sometimes blue-haired hubby (who is looking for an artist to do a backpiece of me as a pin-up on him!I am so excited!)

Hey Ladies,
I have never posted here before because I am not exactly heavily tattooed or pierced. (I do have a couple tats and just the regular old ear holes until recently.) But now I have a question I thought some of you could help me with.
I got my nosed pierced a few weeks ago and I think it may be getting infected. It has been totally fine and didn't even really hurt right after it got done, but now all of a sudden a little raised area is forming to one side of the hole. It almost looks like a little bubble. Some people I know said they have seen this before, but when I asked what the person did, they said they just took out the piercing! I don't really want to do that. Any advice for healing something like this?
And then of course I got freaked out because my son got sick the next day. He never gets sick and now today he has a fever and says his ears hurt. I remember being told to watch for infections because it can get into the bloodstream and thus into my breastmilk. My husband says I am crazy and it would have to be a much worse infection, but I would love to hear it from you all that there is no possible connection!

I think that what you're describing is fairly common,I have a friend who got these red "bubble"bumps around her nose piercing for a long time. She finally just started doing sea salt treatments. It's a little awkward, but basically you're just going to try to either with a saturated cotton ball or even dipping your pierced area in a bowl of sea salt water for probably a good 15 minute treatment or so.I'm not sure of the sea salt to water ratio,I just have always poured a scant amount of salt in the bottom of a shallow bowl then added warm purified water. She also has done these treatments with Dr. Bronners.
Good Luck!

I had those alot the first year or so after getting my nose peirced. I notice a few things. 1-they always went away on their own, and faster if I left it alone. Although sea salt treatments wouldn't hurt if it's really bothering you. 2-It almost always occured when I was around someone sick or fighting off a cold or something. I still get a little irritated in all of my peircings occasionally if me or my family are fighting off colds, it's my little "sickness" gauge. So it's possible you got it because your son is sick, not the other way around. Take some extra Vit C and some echinacea to boost your immune system. And for heavens sake, son't take your peircing out! If it IS infected that would just spread it around.

yes piercings do serve as a sickness gauge, i agree..they get grumpy when you body is fight off illness. and yes those are common. first i suggest always calling your piercer first thing whenever you have a question--think of them like a piercing dr, and blake always gets annoyed when people say "this has been happening for a few weeks...." there is no harm in calling as soon as something comes up. it is fine to use a tiny bit of neosporin for 2-3 days (if you are not sensitive to it) but sea salt soaks do make for a happy piercing--make sure you are using SEA salt in very warm water. as for taking it out--DON'T!! it is always best to heal a problem first before taking out a piercing. it's true that healing a piercing can take a lot of babying, esp the nose which is cartilage and takes many months to fully heal. hang in there and good luck to you!

Thank you so much everybody!
My little "pimple" has continued to grow. That really is what it looks like. My mom doesn't have any sea salt, so I went ahead and put some warm, regular salt water on it - hope that was OK. (?) It seems to have opened it up, as it bled and drained a little after that, but the skin looks healthy.
I know I should have also called my piercer but have been too lazy to hunt the number down since I am on vacation. I will try a dab of neosporin tomorrow. Thanks for mentioning that, Leah. I was afraid to try it as my care instructions said not to use it. Also, good to know my piercer (should) be happy to hear from me. I had been noticing a few days before this happened that my skin felt a little odd, but I would have never called about it, being a newbie and thinking I would be a pest.

Lisa -- I had that same thing a couple weeks ago. I got my nose pierced at the end of January. I considered taking it out but I just went back to twice a day sea salt rinses (stick your nose in a cup of warm sea salt water and blow bubbles with your nose). That seemed to really take care of it. Mine also kind of leaked and then just went away. Oh, and my piercer who is great did say that it must be sea salt, not normal salt. I don't know why though! GL!!

sea salt is great, neosporin is bad. it can trap infection into your skin.

Hi everyone. I mostly lurk on this thread, but I have a question to ask, and hopefully someone will know the answer! :) I know that there's some controversy about the safety of getting pierced while pg. For me, it's not worth the risk, so I won't do it. I'm wondering though, what about stretching? I've been thinking for a long time about stretching my ears a bit (one of them is already big enough for a small plug anyway because it's stretched out from always having a hanging earing in it :lol), and last night DH said that he wouldn't have a problem with it (shocking, because he's never been in favor of stretching anything in the past). I'm 6 weeks pg though, so I'm wondering if it would be safe to do it now, or if I should wait until after the babe is born.
I LOVE it! I am trying to think of something to honor my children. Can't come up with anything for 4 kids that I like, tho. :shrug
I'm planning to eventually do something with Psalm 127: 3-5 (the quiverfull passage). Not sure how yet...I keep wondering if it would be ultra-cheesy to add an arrow to the quiver everytime we have a baby...

Bout time I get around to joining this tribe. I got piercings #10 and 11 four days ago - my nipples - and I have one tattoo. My piercings are 1-4 lobes, 5-7 cartilage, 8 horizontal clitoral hood (migrated and gone), 9 should have been a triangle but ended up as a deep horizontal hood, and 10 and 11 nipples.
I love my new decorations! Of course, it's hard to keep them safe with a rambunctious 2-year-old around the house...

The Association of Professional Piercers stance is this:
What is the APP POSITION ON Body Art During Pregnancy?

sea salt is great, neosporin is bad. it can trap infection into your skin.
true that b/c neosporin is petroleum based it had a plugging effect and can trap infection. however, Nomad normally recommends using neosporin sparingly for just a few days on the common small bump on a nostril piercing as a preventative measure as these are sign of pre-infection. another reason this would be recommended would be for a navel piercing before entering a swimming pool--again preventative. :wink
as for salt:
Dissolve 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized (iodine free) sea salt into one cup (8 oz) of warm distilled or bottled water.
hope that helps....

Any advice for healing something like this?
they are really common, it's from trauma and they are exstreemly annoying and hard to get rid of. I have one too and i also really don't want to take out the piercing. a friend said she used a few drps of pure tea tree oil for a week and it went away so i'm going to try that. thought i'd pass it along to you.
EDIT: i started using tea tree oil on my bump 4 days ago and POOF no more bump! and its not nearly as red any more!

Hi all, I had another sitting last night. It was 'only' 4 hours but he got a lot done. It looks quite a bit different with the swirls in the background.

I got my nipples pierced two weeks ago. It was a great experience. They barely even hurt afterwards. However, the past three days, the left one has been very tender. It doesn't look red, it's not oozy or crusty, it doesn't look swollen, it just hurts. If it gets hit or I move the barbell, it's a VERY sharp pain, especially today. The right one doesn't have this problem. I've been hoping it's just irritated and I'm trying to sleep on my back, but I keep waking up on my stomach.
Does this sound like it's getting infected, or it's just irritated from being slept on? If it's irritated, what can I do to help it recover? I've been using H2Ocean several times a day and washing it with antibacterial soap when I shower. Would a salt water soak help? I have epsom salts - is that the right kind of salt to use?

sounds like you're overcleaning it. stop with the antibacterial soap (nasty stuff anyway) and use just the H2Ocean or salt soaks, both is overkill. if you do salt soaks use sea salt, not epsom or table salt. make sure you're wearing a clean bra and not moving or touching your jewelry.

should i not "wear" my 14mo a few days after getting my tat?
although i have 2 tats, theyīre not as big as the one iīm getting on saturday and i didnīt have a 14mo to carry!! iīm getting it on the right side of my back, from my shoulder to my waist. athough i only have enough for 2 hours, so we wont get too much done. the guy told me that itīs better if i donīt carry him so long the first few days.
how did you girls do it with kids? i mean, i carry him in a sling, ergo or just on me...how many days should i not "wear" him?

You don't want anything rubbing the tattoo as it's healing. Especially not anything that will apply strong pressure. Maybe you can adjust the sling so it doesn't rub?

Arduinna is right. You don't want to rub it at all. I either wear a very loose top or no top at all for the first few days after a sitting (and I stay at home :lol)
For me the healing goes like this....
the first day after the sitting it hurts in a burning kind of way. The next day the pain is more painful and less burning. The damaged skin will start to flake on about day 4 or 5. Kind of like a snake shedding it's skin. This is the time that you REALLY don't want any rubbing. You do not want to knock off any of the skin. It will fall off on it's own. You want to start to grow new skin before the old skin falls off. Thus hilding onto the most ink. By about day 8-9 the flaky skinn is usually falling off by it's self. This is the itchy stage for me. I hate that stage more than the painful one, lol. When all the flaky skin is off new skin will grow to replace it and trap the ink. The new skin is very sensative and will hurt if you scrath it or rub against it. This also itches for me. By about 14 days I usually 100% healed and ready for another sitting. There was one sitting where he really 'dug in' to get some really dark shadding. It beld a little and when the new skin was growing it scabbed a little in a small spot. That spot still looks great.
YMMV but that is how it has been for me. 7 sittings since Dec. I am getting pretty sick of sleeping on my side though. I am a back sleeper all the way.
I don't know if that helps with the question of wearing your ds. But I thought I would sahre. :shy

CANDIPOOH the tat is awsome! it wonīt be that big, but itīll be the biggest one yet. the other ones are pretty small, so the pain and stinging...i donīt remember!
i guess iīlll take it easy for that week...the worst thing about this is that exactly 7 days later, my mother flies in with a friend and weīre going to italy to visit my uncle. i donīt want to tell her about it, until itīs finished... and iīm worried about how iīll be those days. especially the fact that i canīt reach to the middle of my back to put the cream on...i may ask my uncles wife... all of this makes me nervous!
anyway...fortunatelly a firend gave me one of those tricicles that have a handle at the back so the kid is sitting in it but you are the one that moves him...anyway he oves it so iīll try to take him inthat everywhere.

Hey mommas,
Had my nostril pierced last night abnd thought some of you guys could answer a couple ?s. #1 - It's just a small stud but the part inside my nostril looks almost like a fish hook and it's HUGE and driving me up a wall cause it's occasionally touching the other side of my nose; anybody know if I can take some tweezers or something and squeeze the hook a little more closed or am I doomed to foul it up? I can just sense it in there and it's buggin me. Feel like if I could bend/squeeze the hook a little might help. Plus do all of them look like this fish hook thing? Or is mine just weird? #2 I forgot to ask my piercer but ( and this is a little yuck) like when I have a cold or blow my nose or something do I expect all to be the same or does it get gunked up in there sometimes? Gross I know but wanted to ask :lol .... Thanks for any and all advice. This is the first piercing of this nature (navel and lots of earrings prior) and I haven't had a tat in a couple years so I think I'm out of practice :shy

they leave it huge to account for any swelling and such. mine felt weird at first too in some ways, although it felt like it was ALWAYS a part of me. leave it alone for now.
as for nose blowing, you should be able to blow your nose with ease in a few days. sometimes it feels like i need to blow harder on the pierced side, and yes, i have had a bit of snot get caught on it. i took a pair of tweezers and grabbed it out.
enjoy your piercing!

I do sit with my back on a chair but try not to wiggle or move around because I want NO rubbing on it at al (kind of like when you get out of the shower and you dab dry vs. rub dry) . But when it is at a really ouchy stage I don't lean back at all. I make my dh drive so I can sit funny in the passenger side.
You know...this last sitting (the one on last Monday) has healed so fast. Faster than the other 6 sittings by far. I am actually really surprised. I wonder if it is the color? Do different colors heal faster than others? (meaning that it takes less pressure from needles to get optimal skin saturation)

Hiya. I'm looking for some experienced advice, and although I haven't posted on this thread before, I thought this would be the right place to ask. I have a new daith, I got it on Thurs, April 26 so it's 1.5, almost 2 weeks old. The jewelry is implant-grade black niobium, I think it's probably from Anatometal. My favorite piercer at my local shop did it for me, and it didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would. I could even sort of sleep on it if I was careful after the first day. For aftercare I was spraying it with H2Ocean a few times a day, and rinsing it out in the shower. There really wasn't any discharge to speak of.
Now, I flew to Chicago on the third of may. Piercing was still fine, no pain or redness. Oregon to Chicago has a pretty big time difference for my kids, they haven't been sleeping well so neither have I so there's some extra stress happening. One night in my sleep I remember waking myself because I was monkeying with the jewelry and it turned a little, OUCH, and the upshot is that now it's all red and hurts a lot. I can't tell if it's actually infected. I've been cleaning it with Satin soap not more than twice a day (I've done it three times. It started hurting 2 days ago) and now that the spray is gone, the best I can do is rinse it with warm kosher salt water.
I've never had a cartilage piercing before, so I don't know how painful it's expected to be. I have a tendency to be allergic to metal, definitely nickel, cheap surgical steel will do it to me for example, but before I stretched I could wear most higher quality french hooks and studs. Right now I have redness, a small amount of swelling, a little bleeding, and some cloudy whitish discharge as well as the pain, which doesn't necessarily throb, but I feel it sharply when I smile and it's making me cranky unless I keep taking Ibuprofen at which point it is tolerable as long as I leave it alone. I'm not noticing any odor or excessive heat to the area.
I'm concerned that I might be reacting to the metal, although usually that starts right away if it's going to happen and niobium is supposed to be inert. If this is just normal cartilage healing stuff, then I'll keep cleaning it and taking ibuprofen until it calms down. So, I thought I'd ask for opinions here. I'm in a very affluent, preppie/yuppie suburb and I'm not sure where I'd go to find a piercing shop (although there is a tattoo place in walking distance so that might be a lead...). Last time I lived here I would have gone to Wicker Park or maybe Clark and Belmont, but that was 13 years ago and I have no idea what the right neighborhood is anymore.

Ok, clean it with liquid Dial 3-4 times a day, and I would recommend using SSS 316 grade. It is the implant grade, and I never had anyone come back to me and complain about a reaction. I use the yellow Seabreeze to clean the crusties, but that does not work for everyone. Different piercers will give different advice, so that's just mine.:wink

i cannot heal cartiledge piercings if i use soap of any kinds, satin and provon are particularly bad. i have to just use hot water and really leave them alone.
dial is bad. 316 is not the good SS, 316 L is. there is a difference.

OK, I'm kind of sensitive, so I'm guessing that I should cut out the soap. How about hot chamomile tea? I've got some...What do they feel like when they're healing normally? That would be good information. Is the 316 L better than the niobium or titanium though? Also good to know...
Thanks, guys!
eta from reading this (http://www.faqs.org/faqs/bodyart/piercing-faq/jewelry/partA/) it sounds like there is not nickel at all in the implant grade titanium, and maybe I should have the jewelry switched out? If I go anywhere here, I'll have my kids with me. Drat.
Of course, if this painful itchiness is normal for cartilage, I'll just try quitting the soap and bathing it more. I am having a freakishly hard time leaving it alone right now, it itches like a UAV. And it hurts to smile, which sucks.

Sorry but salt soaks are the only thing you should be doing with any piercing. No polysporin, no H2Ocean, no "after market" products, no nothing but salt soaks and preferably sea salt no iodine salt (or table salt). Do this about 3 to 4 times daily and let air dry. Watch out for keloids (scar tissue that forms in a ball - can only be surgically removed), watch out for migration of the jewelry and infection that is red and spreads from the origin (your piercing site) in red lines.
If you see migration, the piercing is rejecting, take it out, let it heal up and try again if you didn't end up with a keloid.
Good luck

Yay! I knew their had to be a piercing and tatt tribe on mdc. :D
I've got 5 piercings; 2 rooks, 2 in my nipples, and um..1 lower.
I'm still mulling over a tatt. I've wanted a huge cherry tree just starting to blossom across my back for several years. Lack of Money and balls have kept me from it thus far. lol
Glad to meet you all!
Hera,
I'll second the salt soaks. They will do wonders. And NO SOAP! Not ever. That stuff can leave behind residue which will only compound your problems. Keep your hands off of it too, the more you fiddle with it, the more irritated the area can become, and also the more likely you'll introduce and infection.
I used liquid Bactine when I got my nipples pierced the first time, which helped lots. I don't know what all is in that stuff, so I won't recommend it to you. Bayer's website was completely unhelpful about that.
BME (http://www.bmezine.com/) has been around for years and years, you can generally find some useful info there, too. Good Luck! :thumb

Witch Hazel is a nice non-soap alternative for healing piercings. I had a very unhappy rook piercing, didn't have the patience for salt soaks, and didn't want to use soap. Witch Hazel cleared it up beautifully. I swear by it for little cuts and zits now.

Thanks, I did quit the soap right away. It's feeling much better, but now I'm all freaked out because I thought I was supposed to get the crusties and blood off. From what I've been reading now, it sounds like that needs to stay on there to be a bit of a scab. I can't really see in my ear with the mirror the way it is, and I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is normal healing or that skin tube thing you can get with these. I'm afraid I messed with the healing skin too much.
Well, it doesn't hurt all the time now, just ouch if I bump it and a little twinge with a big smile, so that seems OK. I'll be home and able to go have the piercers look at it on Thursday.
The worst thing, though, is that I can't scratch my ear if it gets itchy. It's driving me nuts! :lol

can anyone help me out there?
i had my belly pierced and it was fine (never rejected)-though i took it out during pregnancy and its closed up now.
but here is what i dont get....i got a nose stud and my tragis done, both my 2 different people, and they both rejected and grew huge disgusting keloids? whats up with that? would a different metal prevent that? im really sad about it bc i had to take them both out.
and as for the belly, can i re pierce that myself with scar tissue there or is that a no no?
thanks for any feedback!
In my understanding, the tendency to have keloids is genetic. However, bad jewelry and bad piercing technique can really mess you up. My belly never healed, for a number of reasons. 1 being jewelry that I was allergic to, 2 being a crooked piercing, and 3 being that I didn't have the right sort of anatomy to make it work well. You need kind of a thin flap of skin for it to heal well. 4 being bad aftercare instructions, they told me to use hibiclens.
I really have no idea who the good piercers are in Chicago, (you've got Illinois as your location). I asked at Skin Abrasions in Oak Park, and they said they couldn't recommend anybody in the area, although they do have a guy that comes through every 8 weeks or so.
Do not try to pierce yourself.

I've been having trouble with my cartilage piercing (unfortunately, done with a gun). I've had them for about 2 1/2 years and the right one has given me trouble the whole time. It's got a good bit of scar tissue - enough to bother me, but not enough to be noticable unless you're looking really hard for it. It's irritated almost constantly and closes really quickly (a problem since I can't wear earrings in cartilage at work). I'm considering letting both ears close up and getting them redone with a hollow needle. I thought that maybe leaving them alone for a year or two would help the irritation go away and maybe smooth out the scarring, then using a hollow needle would take away some of the scar tissue and it would heal more quickly since I won't be at this job and I'll be able to wear earrings in them constantly.
Does this sound feasible?

Hey I was wondering if any of you have ever purchased jewelry online. I have my nostril pierced and I am counting down the days till I can change it out to something a little different. If any of you have any links from purchases via the web I would love if you could share them. Plus do I need to check with my peircer as to the gage on my starter stud? I have heard if you get a different size it won't go through the hole without pain. Or are these things pretty standard? It's just a plain old flat CZ stud with that evil :irked: L shaped part up in my nose.
Oh and another question while here: If you have a nostril piercing is there a particular type of jewelry you prefer or believe is better? Like bone vs nose screw vs evil L shaped thing up my nose :lol TIA guys!!
You have to watch who you buy from if you get jewelry online, the metals aren't always safe. I had a nasty reaction from something once, now I only buy jewelry through my local shop.
My daith is doing the hypertrophic scarring thing now. :( I've been giving it chamomile teabag compresses and lavender eo (allergic to tea tree, and have a sneaking suspicion that lavender is more indicated) I'm going to try to go see the piercer today and find out if they think I should change to titanium.

The [I]only[I]type of nose jewelry I will use,and I've been pierced for 6 yrs now,is the kind with the little "ball" on the end.Is that the "bone"type? I've used the other screwy kinds and they drove me crazy,or always got turned around and ended up hanging out of my nose! To be honest,I just always buy mine at a franchise type jewlry store, here it is Claire's. I'm able to get 3 studs in one packet for like $6. I've never had trouble with them at all.I've bought bigger gauge by mistake before, but the bigger gauge also seem to have a shorter shaft on them, and they don't seem as secure in my nose.
Good Luck!

I'm not tattooed, yet. I've been wanting one for a while, just couldn't figure out 'what'. A friend wants me to get one with her in a couple of weeks. I know I want something with my two boys initials, but other than that I am at a loss! :dizzy:
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any ideas? I don't want roses or butterflies, but I do like dragonflies and other girly things. I want something that isn't too common, but means something to me (hence the initials).

*peeks in* I have my ears pierced twice, my nostril pierced, and my navel pierced. I also have two small tattoos, one on my leg by my knee and one at my waist of a pentacle. I feel like I get more weird looks since I got my nose pierced. But people do tell me its cute. :) Anyways......
So, my navel seems to be healing, but there is like this area beside it, just on one side, where the skin kind of sticks out some and is dry and hard. It doesn't come off, it kind of looks like a bubble but its not an air bubble. It's right near the wound. What the heck? It makes the piercing crooked!

My nose piercing is still pretty new, about a month, how long before I can feel in the safe zone for keloids and such? Anybody know how long they can wait in hiding? I worry because my crazy kids have wacked my piercing a few times when we were playing and wrestling and I caught it and about pulled it out when I was using a cotton ball to apply the sea salt mixture. I have heard that aggravating/ injuring the site can cause keloids.............

my nose didnt get a keloid until like 2 months after i got it pierced. it kept getting bigger and bigger, i used tea tree oil which was only a temporary fix. it got more and more painful and just got to be too much, so i had to take it out. i also had to take out my tragis as it was being pushed out (rejected) and also had a HUGE keloid forming.

Well the skin, its like white and hard and dry, like a callous. It looks like a build up of dead skin. No pain and no itching.

So, he told me it was irritated, that crusties had gotten stuck on the jewelry and been turned (accidentally) into the hole and that was bugging it. Also that traveling and going up and down in elevation can irritate piercings. Hindsight it 20/20.... he gave me H2Ocean and told me to use it a lot for a week. Either it will be better, or they'll take it out and let it heal, then re-pierce.

not a keloid, it is hypertrophic scar tissue. it is easily taken care of with a jewelry change or a different aftercare regimin.

make sure you have jewelry that doesn't move a lot. my cartiledge heals best with no soap or anything, just some hot water. the soap might be irritating it.

moonfirefaery,
My piercer said soap as well but also about 1/4 tsp NON-iodized sea salt and water mixture with about a cup of water. Then I use a cotton ball to soak it up and squeeze the mixture onto my piercing (which happens to be my nostril). The salt is supposed to purge the piercing of irritants. You might try it. I have also not had trouble using Dial soap but others here often prefer not to use it and do the salt mixture only. Goodluck!

minkajane--I just read your post about your cartilidge piercings. I had the same issue. I couldn't wear earrings more than 5 minutes with my ears itching, swelling & feeling as if the earring weighed 10lbs!
I just found recently that titanium earrings are perfect in my ears. I guaged to a 14 (so not noticeable) and have been able to wear these for 2-3 weeks with no problems now. So maybe try titanium, or bone, or amber earrings?

But...the tat looks great. I think it will be done in two more sittings. So w are very close.
I will have dd take a picture of it so you can see.

Joining! I have 3 holes in my left ear (an 8g, a 10g, and a 14g), my lip and my tongue pierced.
I have 3 tattoos and hope to start sessions on my full back piece this summer (I was supposed to start on it 2 summers ago but found out I was pg with DS 3 days before my appointment!).
My first tattoo (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/moonprysm/new015-1.jpg). I still have to figure out exactly how it's going to be incorporated into my full back piece.
Number 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/moonprysm/5mo055.jpg). I plan on having my current artist redo this one for me. The rainbow is totally uneven all around (in some places as thick as an inch, in others as thin as 1/4 in or less) and the ankh needs touched up a bit.
Number 3 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/moonprysm/newpics/dipestat007.jpg). I've been a cutter since I was 12 years old. This tattoo was a present from my husband when I made it 1 whole year without cutting (we're now going on 2 years). :)
My full back piece is to honor the children that I've lost. I got inspiration from the ICP song "Crossing the Bridge". The left side of my back will depict earth - somewhat barren and lonely. Running down my spine will be a river - the river of tears that are cried when someone passes. There will be a bridge crossing the river, and sitting on the bridge will be 3 crows (one for each lost child). On the right side of my back will be Summerland - gorgeous flowers, lush plants, ect. I'm hoping maybe DH will let me go get started on it for my birthday in August, as that was supposed to be my birthday present the year I got pg with Ds. lol

Can I jump in here and ask you all a question? I have two tattoos and DH is going to get his first soon. I really want to go with him and he is fine with it too. I would have to bring the baby (14 months) as she is nursing but leave the older two at home. My plan was to stay for a little bit with Marah in the Kozy on my back, if she got restless take her out, at some point meet up with some other MDC mamas near the tattoo studio and poss have lunch/park day if any was game for that. Then check back in occasionally with DH and the progress. Well I just talked to the woman who is doing DH's tattoo and she said it was not a good idea to bring a baby. I guess I just don't see why and am irritated. Then she says if you can find a sitter I could touch up your tattoo after. She knows I am nursing cause I asked her if it was ok with her if I had a tattoo touched up while nursing. So I said well since I can't bring the baby it will be a while before I can come and get my tattoo done since she is nursing and I can't leave her. She did not really say anything after that and just said well give your DH the message.
I guess I am just bummed that I can't see his tattoo happen. Tell me why it is not a good idea to have a baby there? I am thinking that it will be obvious once you all point it out to me.
ETA: She said it was cause of the noise of machines and I don't remember them being that loud at all.

AllisonK - hey mama, sorry that it is a pain but i think there are more reasons to not bring a babe in. IIRC it is b/c babes can cry and be disruptive. not sure what the others are LOL but some experienced mamas can probably shed some light. good luck!

not a clue why a nursing babe wouldn't be welcomed.
I've taken nursing breaks and had my kids around when we were getting tattooed.
Is there smoking at the shop? That's the only thing I could think of.

I don't think so, I don't think DH would go there if it was. I have been trying to think of other reasons and just can't. I mean its not like I am gong to let her run around and get in the way. She'll be in arms when I am there and I would leave if I needed to. Well I will be leaving for a lot of the time any way as I don't think I could sit there and watch for four hours. :lol

hi allison!
so that is annoying and you and i know that you would keep babe happy and safe. as a shop though with general rules, they try to set them so that everyone is protected. we all know there are some.....um....how you say....really irritating clueless parents out there, and it's easier for them to just say 'no babies' then ride it case by case and have to say "hey your baby is being disruptiv--can you leave?"
this is purely an assumption though. i know you want to be part of the experience and that is disappointing. did you say you might meet up with some mamas nearly by. do you have someone that your baby is pretty comfortable with? what if you guys brought strollers and packs and they walked around the block a little bit while you sat with dh....?
let us know how it all turns out!

Mamas I have a a couple of questions
#1--where do you buy your earring jewelry for gauged ears? I need titanium or natural earrings that do not cost too much since I am still gauging.
#2--I had this dream that I got 2 tiny star tatts on the outer corner of my eye. DH says NO way (probably b/c of the pain?) But I have a pretty high tolerance for tatts. What do yall now/think about facial tatts?

I have seven tats, 'vae victis' on writst, a dead head on back of right arm, girlie skull on the back of left arm, a swallow on each shoulder blade and a tramp-stamp that says 'Idolless'.
I have taken all my piercings out though, I am left with the lobes, and they are enough maintence for me these days!

This is true. Shop's all have their own rules about children. I have worked in several shops, and all of them were very strict about "no children under 12". Some of them would only allow the children in the lobby, some not at all in the shop. Part of it is because of the annoyance factor to the artist if baby is crying or fussy, part of it is because some young children get scared by all of the sounds and all the blood, the last part is the health department. The health department does not want babies or young children in tattoo shops because of the risk of infectious diseases from being around needles and blood/body fluids. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) they can't discriminate from parent to parent (even though you know how to take care of your baby and wouldn't be disruptive). HTH, I know it sucks...

Wow- that pregnant lady tat is amazing! I love the colors and the design.
Okay- my nose piercing is acting odd. I got it a month or so ago and last week, a bump came up right beside it (it is actually on the backside of it- meaning it was on the side towards my face so I didn't see it since it was hidden from my view by the nose ring)- I had no clue it was there (as in no pain or itching) until dh mentioned to me that I had a "pimple" coming up beside my nose ring. So I used some tea tree oil on it (we were out of town so it was all I had on me at the time) and it dried up and went away for about 2 days- now today it is back. What should I do? I've never had a problem with metal sensitivity and it's not painful at all- should I keep on with the TTO? Maybe order a titanium nose ring (not sure on the gauge to order though). I'm so sad this is happening- I waited so long to get my nose pierced and now it is acting all wonky.

It sounds like you have a keloid (a build-up of scar tissue). It's very common. They way to treat it (without going to the doctor) is using TTO and clove oil and doing salt water soaks daily. This usually works, it should shrink, but it may take a while. If not, you should go back to your piercer and see what options they suggest.
As far as the gauge goes, the standard piercing gauge for a nostril is 18, though a few shops use 20 (very unlikely). I wouldn't change your jewelry out unless it gets a lot worse. Sometimes that can irritate it more. HTH

Can I join? I have a couple of tattoos and cartilage piercings, and I just got my nose pierced last week.
And can I say that I have never felt so "conspicuously invisible" as I have since getting my nose pierced? Maybe it's because I have a CBR in it. This is what happens when people notice it at, say, the grocery store:
1. quick double take
2. eyes averted to avoid staring
3. a few seconds of avoidance, in which the person pretends I do not exist
4. gaze returns, looking at a point somewhere over my shoulder, as if to indicate, "I'm not staring at the ring in your your nose, I'm looking at that very interesting display over there," while they stare at my nose
I will get my DH to take a pic so I can post it (or snap a self portrait).

Most places wont tattoo you if your preggers, I was talking to the women who did my last tattoo and she said there is no risk envolved places just dont do them because in can increase your heart rate. But if she knew the women well and had tattoo her before she would be fine tattooing a pregnant women.
To resond to the face tattoos, I want stars on my face too! alot of my friends are part of the "star face gang" so more people then you think have them :)

I found myself at a tattoo convention on Friday. I've never been to one, but DH's band plays regularly at the Queen Mary (a historical, permanently docked boat here in So Cal), and there happened to be a convention going on right accross the hall. A few friends and I went and walked around, and it made me want new ink SOOOO bad! Not that I would have been tattooed there by someone who I was not familiar with, but I wanted to call my artist to schedule something right away. :rolleyes I'm a dork, I know.
I plan to get tattooed and pierced shortly after the babe is born, before something else happens to keep me from doing it! :lol

Someone else here will probably be able to give you more direct information on this, but I wanted to chime in anyway. :) The risks associated with getting any kind of body modification while pregnant is the risk of infection. That risk is always present, pg or not, but you don't want a nasty infection in your bloodstream while you are supporting a small, fragile life inside of you.

Most definitely not. I've been going to the same guy for the past 5 years and have never had an adverse reaction. However, there's always the first time and I wholeheartedly agree it's not worth it. If we do conceive it's NO INK for moi. :crying, but

It definitely was. Unfortunately, I spent so much of my time analyzing, planning, and preparing all the food I put in my mouth (home/social events/etc.) that I personally found it difficult to just let go and enjoy myself.
I would get stressed watching others eat dairy, etc. It just wasn't for me I guess. :duck:

Hi decorated mamas!
I am going *next week* (YAY!) back to Sanctuary Tattoo in ME to see my amazing artist, Jennifer Moore.
She did this piece for me last fall~ http://new.photos.yahoo.com/zoedogberry/photo/294928803763849944/2
I am getting a companion piece, one cherry blossom in a swirl of wind. Each of the blossoms in my leg piece represents a family member or beloved animal~ the new blossom I'm getting is "just for me" to represent this big year of change and transformation in my life... so, I want to get it somewhere I can see it all the time, yk?
So, asking for advice/ first thoughts~ should I get it on my inner forearm or on the side of my neck? It will be fluid, so I think we can make it work on either space... I keep flopping like crazy back and forth!:dizzy:

Hey mamas!! I have two tats and am ready to get another, I just don't know what it will be yet. In the meantime I have a piercing question:
I've had my nose pierced twice before, the first time (in college) I took it out for a summer job and let it grow over. So I had it pierced again and got a huge keloid, I think I managed to keep it less than a month. I had a hoop both times, can't remember gauge or type of jewelry. I really want to get it pierced again, but what are the chances of another keloid? I just want a stud this time and I was thinking the other side of my nose instead of the original piercing site. Any advice?? I really can't afford to waste the money if I'm just going to have to take it out in the end.
Thanks!!!

I've had 4 seperate surgeries to remove keloids from my earlobes, so I'm no stranger to the dreaded scarring. I'm glad you brought up keloids because I know of only one other person in my life who got them. I would venture to say the risk is very very high, especially in the same area. Another thing you need to be careful of, is that any new trauma to the areacan actually make the keloid larger and you may need surgery to remove it.
Know what I did? Gave up the piercings for tattoos! No problems at all! :lol

Thanks!!!
Are you sure it was actually a keloid and not just an infection?? Is it still there? If it's not there anymore, it probably wasn't a keloid. Infection usually looks like a small keloid but it's actually filled with pus, like a zit. If it was truly a keloid I wouldn't get any more piercings. If it was just an infection you could go on the same side but since you've had it done there twice you have a lot of scar tissue anyway and I would go with the other side. Also, if it was an infection and it happens again you should absolutely not take the jewelry out! All that does is trap the infection because the hole closes and that was the escape route for all the nastys. Hope that helps.

No, it went away as soon as I took the hoop out. It never drained or anything, just felt like a little bump. So maybe it wasn't a keloid? That would be great. At the time I re-pierced my nose I had 2 belly-button rings and multiple ear piercings and I never experienced any problems with those. The first nose piercing healed well too.
We're in a different city now so I have to find a new piercer. I'm assuming a good one will be able to help me figure out if I should pierce or not.
Thanks everyone!!

Before doing any more piercing, I'd recommend going to a plastic surgeon to just have them look at the area. I learned through the entire keloid process that piercers and doctors in family practice don't know :censored about keloid detection, reduction or removal. If you have insurance, just go for a consult. I almost had to lose both my earlobes from the enormity of my keloids and could barely hold a phone to my ear (I had 3 piercings in each earlobe).
Thankfully, I found a great doctor the last time and he excised them without any noticeable damage to my ears and then followed up with steroidal injections for several weeks after to ensure that they did not grow back. If you have any suspicion, see a plastics guy! It's not worth damaging what I'm sure is a very pretty face!

I'm looking for design ideas for a half sleeve. I have a moon, stars and cloud on my shoulder (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2757786620021367563OPvxfm?vhost=good-times)and I'm debating between creating a scene that uses that piece or covering it. I'm not really thrilled with how this tat came out, but if it became a sleeve I'd be fine with it- I just don't like it much on it's own.
What do you think?

YES! i'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!!!! :lol
I've got 1 tattoo (just over a month old) and 10 piercings.
Tattoo: a "13" on my left wrist (me and dh's annivesary... don't do names.)
Piercings: 1 cartilage, 4 lobe, 1 eyebrow, 3 belly button, and 1 hood.
I just took my eyebrow out, about a month ago (cleaned it, got busy, couldn't get the darn thing in though i've had it for 3+ years!!!) so i'm considering leaving it out....
DH is tattoo'd and pierced too. He's got a 13 on his left wrist also, and 4 other tats and 2 piercings.

you can take your jewelry to a piercer and have them taper the hole and get your jewelry back in....

I think you should go to an artist you like and ask if they're interested in drawing something for you, let them decide if the peice you have already will work with it or not. Just let them know what you like and show them some peices you're really into and I bet they'll come up with something kick ass...

I have 48 tattoos, myself, working towards that big 'start with one, end with one thing" I suppose. lol

I think what would be rad with that, would be like, a big night sky theme all down your arm- ala starry night, maybe? Or, or..ooooh see I love this type of thing- maybe a full color/black and grey mesh of a night sky theme going down into a reverse stars sort of deal near your wrist?
Its kind of hard to see that pic, a little blurry, to be honest. If I were you, I would do like the above poster said, go to an artist- tell them what you are thinking, be prepared for a deposit and let them draw you some things up. In the meantime, you can kinda look around for images you *might* like to encorperate into the sleeve, and bring them with you when you go. I am currently drawing up my own sleeve and its HARD. lol

I have 6 tattoos and this one on my shoulder is the only one I didn't draw/design myself. It's tricky now because it's not my style of drawing, so I don't really know how to add on to it...
Good suggestions about the celestial theme. I was thinking about that.

I really want to know how facially pierced mama's manage to keep their DC's hands off of them - I had a vertical labret, and it was constantly pulled at. I would love to get another, but am rather scared that my 14 month old and 28 month old will grab at it, especially during diaper changes, or after they wake up (we co-sleep).
How do pierced mama's deal with this?

I have a nostil piercing, labret and septum piercing. I imagine it will take several painful episodes and lots of consistant redirection. Scary, but true...

I had to take my genital piercing out the other day. It was a triangle and it kept getting irritated and just kind of got in the way. It was so pretty though! *sniff* This is the second one I've lost - the first was a horizontal clitoral hood and it migrated. No more genital piercings for me, I'm afraid.

Yes $2,000 was actually a really good deal. This was a newish artists (is only 23 and been tattooing for about 3/4 years) first big back tattoo. He had no clue how long it would take and guessed 4 sittings. It took 11 sittings and about 40 hours.
And yah, I want to walk around topless, lol. I wear lots of tank tops that show the top of it but the bottom is rarely seen. I have been surfing on ebay for a backless shirt. I want to buy one to wear at a convention that is the end of the month. This (http://cgi.ebay.com/TYT-Sexy-Chinese-Silk-Embroider-Halter-2322_W0QQitemZ330141449538QQihZ014QQcategoryZ11522 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)one is pretty but $18 shipping. I like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/TYT-Sexy-Satin-Embroider-Chinese-Halter-0254_W0QQitemZ330141449469QQihZ014QQcategoryZ11521 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)one even better.

I was at target a few days ago and saw the cutest tattooed mom. She had both arms done (half sleeves) her upper chest and some on her neck. I didn't wan to look like I was gawking so I didn't see what the actual tattoos were though. She had another lady with her that was inked and a man with tats. She was pushing her daughter (looked to be about 4) in the cart and when she turned away from her daughter to look at something a little way away (like 10 feet) she said to her daughter "sing to me" The little darling started to sing "I love rock and roll" really loud. It was so dang cute! And what a good way to keep an "eye" on your child in a busy store.
So were any of you in Target in San Bernardino a few days ago? :D
I had my tat covered so I couldn't giver her the "hay I am a tattooed mom too" smile. :lol

Tattooed- black triquetra on my back between my shoulderblades.
Pierced- ears 4x. I used to have my nipple and navel pierced but they closed up.
Definitely ISO more of both, though. If anyone needs a recommendation in the MA/RI area, I know a great shop!
